to an admired person. My personal definition of honor is someone who sticks to what they believe or say, or did something good and is respected for it. Such as how Carl Sagan who was honored for all the books he wrote and his show Cosmos, which The definition of honor is respect that is given still remains one of the most watched tv series in television history. In 1934 Carl Sagan was born November 9th in Brooklyn, New York. Sagan is the oldest of two children. When Carl was five his mom sent him to the library to get a book of the stars. This international nonprofit organization focused on space exploration and launched a Tv series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage in which he wrote and hosted. He wrote a book to accompany the Tv series. He then wrote a sequel to Cosmos called Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space. His work was inspired by the famous photograph of the Pale Blue Dot. It shows Earth as just a speck in space. To discuss humanity’s place in the vast universe Sagan uses the Voyager 1 probe photo. To further his political goals he uses both his statuses as celebrity and scientist. He also launched a campaign for nuclear disarmament and was a vocal opponent for Ronald Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative. He co-wrote a paper that introduced the concept of “nuclear winter” in 1983. The following year he co-authored a book called The Cold and the Dark: The World After Nuclear War. Over the course of Carl Sagan’s career he was honored several times. He received NASA’s Distinguished Public Service Medal in 1977 and 1981 and the National Academy of Sciences’ Public Welfare Medal in 1994. He is honored by many aspiring scientist, even twenty years after his passing. His Tv series is back only hosted by other people, and many people are extremely stoked about it. The creator of Family guy, Seth Macfarlane,and Sagan’s widow Ann Druyan is whose reinventing the Cosmos series. Carl Sagan’s last interview was with Charlie Rose on May 27th, 1996. He spoke about his latest work “The Demon Haunted World”. Sagan also spoke about the new aged technology and science. Sagan suffered of Myelodysplasia (groups of cancerous blood cells in bone marrow) for two years, and got three bone marrow transplants from his sister Cari. He died on December 20th at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle due to pneumonia. Carl’s body was buried at Lakeview Cemetery in Ithaca, New York. And, even though he isn't in our presents anymore him memory ans discoveries live on.
