Ethics in a business is a very important issue, especially in marketing. Customers want to be informed of products and their qualities, but they also want the information to be truthful. The purpose of a marketing department is to communicate products to potential customers so that they will be more inclined to purchase the product. This is where ethics comes into play. If a company makes their product look more desirable than it is, it is very likely that the consumers will be disappointed in the product. This satisfied the consumer’s value for lower income families as well as continuing to satisfy middle to high-income families. Value will be different for every product though, what consumers portray value as for fast food is not going to be the same value they look for in a five star restaurant. That is why it is very important to research your target market and know what your potential consumers wants and needs are.
Marketing in short is researching and promoting a product. There are many stages in marketing that a company needs to involve themselves in before they take the final steps of promoting the product to their target market. To engage the customers you want to sell to, you first need to find your target market and know what they are looking for. For example, if you were selling to a business one of the main factors they could be looking for is a very quick and efficient logistics strategy. On the other hand, if you were selling to a customer they could be looking for quality and price. In general, there are attributes that every customer will find satisfactory but depending on who you are targeting the levels of importance will vary. After a company has researched their market, it is important to choose the best way to reach your potential consumers.
