“ELLEN MOORE (A): LIVING AND WORKING IN KOREA” At first glance it looked like that the main problem about this case would be Korean’s team and their lack of qualification and expertize in this System Implementation (SI) project, therefore without taking drastic measures and improvements they are not going to be able finish it in time. But the more I read, the more I understood that lack of experience is just one small piece of problem set they had there. They had strong Cultural differences between Asia and Western thinking, in way of acting, communication differences, language barrier, used working hierarchy and most importantly different standards and values. * If she saw that the team member is not experienced and not working as efficient as expected then she should have asked for extra people from USA, especially when she realized the situation. * Or Ellen could take absolutely different approach and at the moment when she realized that Jack is lacking a lot of things, just talked it all through ( with good logics and persuasion skills) and offered him a chance to learn from the expert (her) in actual project how those things should be done. If she could explain, convince and not feel him threatened he could probably listen to her and accept her offer, because that is a free field practice in a real project with feeling as a leader and being paid for
