A very serious and deadly shooting has recently occurred in the now scarred town of San Bernardino. Some law enforcement officials in California commented that there are two prime suspects that were shot and killed during the altercation. Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik were the two suspects that were killed by the police during a shootout. They were only 28 and 27 years of age respectively.
WHAT HAPPENED AT SAN BERNARDINO?
December 2nd, 2015: this is the date that all citizens of San Bernardino will remember with sorrow and disdain. On that fatal day, men with black ski masks entered a building for the disabled and opened up fire. The law enforcement officials reported 14 people were killed in this awful travesty. As of right now,
The “Shootings at Columbine High School: The Law Enforcement Response” case, in Richard Stillman’s Public Administration: Concepts and Cases, Ninth Edition, covers the Columbine High School law enforcement response to the mass murders committed by Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. Columbine High School is located in Littleton, CO, which is situated in the center of multiple jurisdictions. The case raises management communication
March 25, 1911 about 145 people were killed due to a tragic fire. The fire was called the Triangle Factory, it was one of the largest disaster in New York before 9/11. Before the fire there weren’t many rules that aided in the prevention of massive fires, and a lot of people died because of that. Since the fire new labor laws and fire safety laws.
When 2 young men, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, went on a shooting spree in Littleton, Colorado, killing 15 people, including
On November 5, the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, Devin Patrick Kelley shot at the church. The shooting killed at least 26 people, with many more wounded.
There was a shootout that went viral recently in Maryland and the information about it is now available for us to discuss. The young lad who was killed during the shootout is identified as Jason Hendrix who is 16 years old and was from Corbin, Kentucky. The Baltimore County Police officers, Maryland have been on a hunt to find this young lad who is a suspect of his parent’s and his 12 years old sisters’ death. Right from there his hunt was on for the cops of Maryland.
Week three I wrote about a shooting that took place in Dallas, Texas when gunshots were fired killing five police officers. It concluded with the gunman, 25 year-old Micah Xavier Johnson of Mesquite, Texas, being shot dead by the Dallas police after attempted negotiations failed. Videos showing two men shot by police in both Louisiana and Minnesota created protests in Dallas and lead to erupting fire. The gunman's house was warranted to search; bomb-making materials, ballistic vests, rifles, ammunition, and a personal journal of combat tactics were all found. The amount of shooters were unknown, but when the shooting started twenty protesters that had been carrying rifles scattered the area. It was a very well thought-out attack that took
April 20th, 1999, Columbine High School. 2 students went on a brutal killing spree, open firing on the their school. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed 12 of their classmates and 1 teacher. 18 years later, finally healing and having a glorious day off from school to mourn those who died that fateful day. Not just being a day off though, the brutal massacre held up many more legacy’s as well.
“On the night of October 1, 2017, Sunday at Route 91 Harvest country music festival at 10:05 pm shots fired in Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada.” (Lombardo, 2017). Seemingly Las Vegas longest horrific ten minutes has recently had, news around the world stated that Stephan Paddock was solemnly capable of committing such massacre. Uncovered evidence can be proven to the contrary, that one man was capable of injuring 546 and killed 59 solemnly within ten minutes. One could see this act not of a one-man but more like a two-man job, with the other man getting away and is yet to be identified.
In recent news, there has been a string of attacks all over the world; each attack has been related to terrorism. A passenger boarded a train traveling from Amsterdam to Paris, armed with a box cutter, a pistol and an AK-47 with intent to harm innocent people. Four passengers on the train quickly subdued the terrorist before anyone could be harmed. In November, Paris, France was struck with terror when three armed men set off a string of attacks throughout the city, to include a bomb and active shootings. This attack left nearly 127 people killed and wounded. Most recently, in San Bernadino, California a man and woman left from a holiday party and returned with assault rifles. The officials attributed their act to terrorism, where the
On December 24th 2012 a few firemen in west Webster, my hometown, responded to a working house fire. When they arrived on scene a gunman opened fire with a firearm killing LT. Mike Chipperini of the Webster police department. Also killing Tomasz Kaczowka of the West Webster fire department, and injuring two other fire fighters. Webster police found the gunman William Spengler dead near the scene with a Self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head (Rochester NY news). This incident hit close to home for many people because things like
The events of the San Bernardino shooting were a tragedy. 14 people were killed, and another 22 were injured when a married terrorist couple staged an attack on a Christmas party. This was an unmitigated catastrophe, but it spawned one of the most important security debates in recent memory. The FBI wanted to unlock one of the suspects phones, but were unable to do so because of security measures on the phone. The FBI wanted to brute force the password lock on the iPhone, but device would wipe itself after 10 failed attempts to unlock the iPhone. Thus, the FBI asked Apple to create an intentionally insecure iOS update, specifically for this iPhone, in order to bypass the security restrictions. Apple disagreed with the FBI, and tried to avoid helping the FBI in such a way, arguing it would undermine the purpose of security itself. Overall, Apple has the best argument, both legally and as a matter of public policy.
United States history of deadly massacres. Gun violence has always been a hot topic because of constant crimes involving firearms over the years. Recent history has alluded even more debate to possibly create or reform even more gun laws. In the story of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, the New York Times addressed what had happened. This shooting killed twenty six people, twenty in which were children ranging from the ages of five to ten years old. Adam Lanza, who ended up committing suicide, was identified as the gunman who was armed with semiautomatic pistols and a semiautomatic rifle. Another example is from the Los Angeles Times that covered a 2012 Colorado shooting in a movie theater. The gunman, suspected to be James E. Holmes, killed twelve people and injured dozens more in the shooting in a packed movie theater in Aurora. Authorities said Holmes was dressed in full body armor and used a form of tear gas on the crowd before opening fire with multiple guns. In addition, the most recent shooting occurred on May 2014 in Isla Vista near the University of Santa Barbara. This shooting resulted in seven deaths, thirteen wounded, and the murderer himself a gunshot wound to his head. He used three semiautomatic handguns and more than four hundred rounds of ammunition at his side. The recent history of shooting massacres is only a sample size of the whole history of gun violence in
The other massacre happened on December 14, 2012 in Newtown Connecticut at Sandy Hook Elementary School. A twenty year
April 20, 1999, the date then will always leave a horrifying mental scar, this was possibly the worst day any kid could ever imagine. I was in tenth grade at the time and just like every other day I was acting up and talking to my friends. In third period around 11:20 A.M. an announcement comes over the loudspeakers blaring the message, “lockdown, lockdown, this is not a drill.” I panicked as well as most of the school did, I heard girls scream in fright and everyone rushing to get into a classroom. I had no idea what was going on at the time until I heard gunshots from two different guns and explosions scattering the school halls. I was scared for not only my life but all other students and teachers of Columbine High School.
“The gunpowder was still lingering in the air as San Bernardino Police Lt. Mike Madden and three other officers approached a conference center where a mass shooting had been reported. Bodies had fallen outside the meeting room in San Bernardino, California,” what these officers experienced on that Thursday evening
