The Triangle was undoubtedly one of the most tragic events in the worlds history. The not only is the fire a horrifying event, but the factory had no safety precautions and didn’t have any emergency exits and kept doors locked. Not only did this strike sorrow on the community, but it awakened people to realize that workplace safety is a serious thing and needs to be practiced.
To begin with, I believe that there was more than one conflicts in the story. The conflicts were man vs. nature, man vs. self, man vs. man, and man vs. society. Mattie acquired all of these conflicts throughout the novel. To describe the conflict of man vs. nature, it is explained that the fever had spread through the air and it was up to Mattie to save herself from the disease. She had to “fight” nature and protect herself from the heat as well as the fever until winter arrived. Mattie also fought with herself when she had to decide to give Nell up to the orphanage or keep her in her own hands. Mattie also shows man vs. society as she defended the intruders breaking in the coffeehouse. Man vs. man is explained in the novel when Mattie would argue about doing her chores and going to Polly’s funeral in the
If you went out one day and out of nowhere you find yourself in a life-or-death situation would it be your fault? People in a life-or-death situation should be held accountable for their actions because most of the time people know that if they do something that can put them in a life-or-death situation then something bad will happen but they still do it willingly. Another person might not agree with this claim and say that people should not be held accountable for their actions. The reason he or she might think this is because if when a person does face a life-or-death situation it might not be entirely their fault. The following reasons are examples of why my claim is stronger.
* All electrical and fire extinguishers are checked annually by a qualified person and a label is stuck on the
These are the survivors thoughts on the Triangle Factory Fire. There was over 100 survivors but I choose two of the most important people who lived from the fire and I am sharing their thoughts.
SAN DIEGO- Two men who sparked the 10 day Hodge Fire, were found guilty of arson on Sept. 3, 2015 by the San Diego Court and are set to attend a sentence hearing on Sept. 30, 2015.
Could the fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory have been prevented? If the working conditions weren’t so flammable, maybe this fire could have never happened. There were about tons of scraps, and they used paper as thin as air. If the workers and managers were more aware of these things, there could have never been a fire. The Triangle Shirtwaist could have not lost 145 workers that day if they had been more considerate.
Death is what causes things to be changed whether it is for good or bad, and the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire death toll caused legislation to be enacted to ensure employee safety. This tragedy took the lives of 146 men and women and spurred an outcry for employee safety. Until this point there were very few regulation of employee safety, and this tragedy changed the scope of employee relations. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire was a tragedy, court case and legislation starter.
The Laguna Fire was said to be the biggest fire during that particular time. Because of its negative impact on the communities of Harbison Canyon and Crest it resulted in the construction of The Modular Airborne Firefighting System. This system allows for firefighters to use aircrafts to contain and stop wildfires at great lengths and one-hundred percent effectiveness. The Laguna Fire resulted in impactful changes to fire suppression and fire ground tactics. In addition, the design of the five tanks allowed for quick and effective transitions. Due to its short loading time it allows for faster preparation for when a wildfire may occur. Which is a key factor when dealing with wildfires. Furthermore, The Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System was updated to better help the firefighters when transporting the tanks. The newly developed system which is Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System II redesigned the tanks. Instead of five huge tanks they changed it and made one ginormous tank. Referring back to the article titled, “ MAFFS II Making an Impact” it mentions, “ The MAFFS II systems allow the MAFFS aircraft to be loaded at the same bases as the larger civilian air tankers due to the built in compressors used to pressurize their load of fire retardant to be forced out of the aircraft.” this is another reason why the new Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System II is extremely effective and widely used. The Firefighter’s do not have to stop at certain bases to have the tanks pressurized, because with the new development with the two compressors inside the aircrafts they can just pressurize the tanks there, and the 24-hour resource allows for better access to these military aircrafts to be used. Because they are a twenty four hour resource it means that they have twenty four hours to arrive on the scene of the fire. Furthermore, the process of
The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory took place on March 25th, 1911 which led to 145 deaths. These deaths could have been prevented if the owner’s, Max Blanck and Isaac Harris would have kept up on proper maintenance within the building. There were several reasons why they should have been found guilty for manslaughter, but the courts found them to be not guilty. The reasons are as follows; doors were locked from the outside, water pressure in the hoses wasn’t sufficient and the hose nozzle was rusted shut, no sprinkler system found anywhere in the building, and only 3 of the 4 elevators were in good working order.

There are a variety of different safety codes that your fire suppression system must pass before it is considered safe. These codes are set up by the NFPA and vary depending on the type of system and the situation you use. Check out these guidelines to get a feel for whether or not your fire suppression system is currently up to code.
The legislation carries on to say that “Any non-automatic fire-fighting equipment so provided is easily accessible, simple to use and indicated by signs.” (The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, page 11, 13 (1) b.).
Fire suppression systems are popular in commercial buildings, but they aren't quite as common in the home. This does not mean that it's not worth looking into installing a system in your home, however. These are some of the main reasons why this can be a great investment.
The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health will not change legislation regarding safety in the near future.
