Case Study Analysis
A number of underlying problems rose to the surface when Carl Robins faced his current situation. Procedures that either were in place but not followed or never defined require attention to avoid this problem in the future. The problems span over several departments. The lack of communication between the parties involved is the main problem. New hires need to know what paperwork is required and when the paperwork is due. Monica Carrolls needs to know about any problems that surface that have to do with the current hiring process. The human resource department must make sure that adequate materials are available and up-to-date. The various departments must put forth a concentrated effort in order to handle this

Contact Monica Carrolls
Contact Monica Carrolls to inform her of the possible delay in starting the 15 new hires. Briefly explain to her what has happened and that she can be confident that the new hires will be ready for work at the beginning of July as earlier stated. Explain to her that each new hire is aware that he or she is each responsible for making sure that all files are complete and current. She will be kept posted on the progress of the paperwork and any other problems that may arise.
Contact Human Resources
Carl must contact human resources regarding the missing and incomplete orientation manuals. Explain to them the need for at least15 complete and up-to-date manuals before July. If this is not possible, HR must supply 15 complete existing manuals by July for the new hire orientation. In addition, Carl should request a number of extra orientation manuals and any other necessary paperwork required for future hires to keep on hand. Let the HR department know that Carl needs to receive any changes or revisions to the orientation manual in the future. Assure the HR Department that when the company does more hiring, HR will receive a call as to prepare enough materials for handing out.

This report reviews the possible outcomes and implications of work conflict which is a product of miscommunication and mismanagement. The following case study discusses the particular problem of Carl Robins, a campus recruiter for ABC, Inc. Robins is faced with organizing across multiple departments and coordinating the schedules 15 new hires. Of particular note, is that this case study proposes that solutions include changes in both the conduct of the employee Robins and his supervisor Monica Carrolls. Robins failed to carry out his specific job duties and should be reprimanded. However, Robins also could have used the assistance of a more involved supervisor who set up deadlines which needed to be met along the way.
As the top managers of their company, there are many issues that Bert and John must deal with. New issues arise on a daily basis when managing any organization. However, I believe that Bert and John have already encountered and dealt with the issues that were a threat to the company’s success. Such issues may have included; the business outgrowing its staff, developing a system which best fit the company’s needs, and also implementing a system the company will not outgrow. At the beginning stages of the company I believe the most important management function would have been planning.
The next key problem that arises for Carl is when he checks the new trainee files and discovers that they are incomplete. All the new recruits have gone through the interview process and filled out their paperwork. Unfortunately, the paperwork is incomplete and missing lots of valuable data. To make matters worse, some files are missing transcripts, and no one has completed the required drug screens. Problems only get worse for Carl when he discovers that only three copies of the employee manuals exist. Of the three manuals that exist, they are all missing several pages. Unfortunately, he needs fifteen complete copies.
