I am an attorney with over three years of post-law school experience and I have a long-standing commitment to the protection and preservation of intellectual property rights. I am writing to express my interest in the Attorney Advisor position with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO). I have the relevant work experience, knowledge, and analytical abilities needed to make a meaningful contribution to the USPTO. In a small group, I collaborated on legislative projects related to intellectual property rights preservation, most notable, I assisted with the production of a comment for a Copyright Office Inquiry related to Orphan Works. I have a solid academic background in intellectual property law. During law school, I completed courses including Copyright Law, Advanced Copyright Law & Policy, IP Practice Customs & Border Agency, Sports Law, Trademark Law, and IP Licensing & Technology Agreements. I used the knowledge of intellectual property law gained from these courses to produce scholarly legal articles and blog articles for the online blog of the Intellectual Property Law Brief. In the middle of my second year of law school, I was commended for knowledge of copyright law by being offered a Dean’s Fellow position with Professor Peter Jaszi, an expert on copyright law. Additionally, I have the communication skills needed to communicate effectively with trademark applicants. As a sole practitioner with no support staff, I am the person communicating with my clients on a daily basis through phone calls and e-mails.
