Meaning, travelers who want to visit the Ohiopyle and Laurel Highland region or Pittsburgh, would most likely choose the lodging establishment that is a shorter distance to where they want to visit. For example, the website for the California Hampton Inn lists visiting Fallingwater as something to do while you stay with them, but it takes 48 minutes for a 39.8 mile drive. It does not make sense for someone to drive almost an hour from the California Hampton Inn to see an attraction, when they could simply reserve a room at a closer hotel in Uniontown or on the mountain.

(FRENT, C. (2016)) While tourism can positively impact economically speaking, there can also be a negative economic impact. Prices will inevitably inflate. The cost of food will rise which unfortunately negatively affects the people who live in that community. The resources that the hotel requires will be taking away from other things that could have used those resources. For example, governmental support for the infrastructure could take away resources from more important areas such as health and education. (UNEP, 2016b, FRENT, C. (2016)) The California Area School District should not suffer over a new hotel that is not needed in the first place. An important factor to think about is that people do not want to depend on tourism to keep their community economically stable. (FRENT, C. (2016)) The main reason for this being, the tourism industry is not fully reliable. In order to have a tourism industry, tourists are needed to fill hotel rooms. Many factors affect this such as the income of the traveler. When pay cuts, lay offs, and unemployment affect people, they simply will not have the extra cash to take a vacation and put their money into tourism. A seemingly simple problem yet important to a travelers experience is parking. (FRENT, C. (2016))California, Pennsylvania offers parallel parking spots on the streets, which one pays with change to park there. This space is limited. There would be parking at a hotel, but unless there is a shuttle to drop you off and pick you up from where you want to go in California, or it was within walking distance, the need to extra parking spaces would be necessary. California University of Pennsylvania does offer a decent amount of parking, but unless the traveler is going to an event there, visiting the college, or has a parking pass, they would not be allowed to park in any of the lots, besides a pay by day lot, and would risk getting a $25 fine.
