First, the U.S. Constitution has priority over all other forms of law. This includes federal and state statutes, common-law principles, and state constitutions. In the event of a conflict, the U.S. Constitution takes precedence. Second, a federal statute would take precedence over a state constitution. Finally, the state constitution is the last priority for this set of laws. The reason for this order is largely attributable to the supremacy clause of the U.S. Constitution which states that any form of federal law will take precedence over any state law, even state constitutions. In addition, the general priority among the sources of law, in order of precedence, is constitutions, statutes, and common-law principles.

I applied for Mt. Edgecumbe in the spring of 2014, I received a can unknown call from someone saying that I got accepted into MEHS. I was so happy I told everyone and even posted it on Facebook. Despite his original intent to motivate a crowd of striking sanitation workers, Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” served as his final words of support and encouragement to a nation still struggling with social problems and to future advocates of social justice and change. The rhetoric behind “Mountaintop” reveals King as a humble yet forthright and intelligent speaker whose convincing arguments and powerful voice directed his listeners to action. Under the “five canons of rhetoric”-invention, arrangement, style, memory, and delivery- “Mountaintop” is truly a captivating speech and an essential piece to understanding King’s legacy.

There are virtually no banking services either, and only one bank operates a mobile banking unit that drives to the reservation to provide certain services on a weekly basis (Pickering and Mizushima, 2008: 16).
Imagine what it feels like for people who are on death row. Regrets are racing through their minds. Nerves are shooting up their spine. They start to feel this overwhelming guilt come upon them. This guilt makes them feel as if they deserve this punishment. The truth is they do not deserve it. No human being in this world deserves that punishment. They deserve a second chance. They deserve a glimmer of hope in their life that makes them strive to do better. The death penalty kills their hope. It takes their hope and annihilates it, leaving no traces behind. The death penalty is a punishment that should never be used because no person deserves to be killed for their actions, and it has way too many harmful statistics that affect the government and the people of America.
