Veronica Joseph is a seven-year-old African American female who was referred to the S.A.F.E Family Strengthening Program by Olusola Onagrruwa, Child Protective Investigator from the Broward County Sherriff’s Office, in order to receive therapeutic services due to allegations of inappropriate sexual behaviors. Other children reported they had seen “naked flesh.” The alleged victim cried after the incident, as he indicated he knew he should have not engaged in the behaviors. Records indicated Veronica has a history involving being sexually aggressive with other children, so she is kept separate from the boys in the classroom and seated closely to the teacher. The case of Kathryn Mc Neil deals with the issue of separation in the workplace regarding the nonperformance of a single mother whose work was suffering because of the tremendous additional burden of raising a child. The case was written in 1994 but in the intervening years significant decisions have been made by the law (in the US) protecting the rights of the single mother. The debate is no longer exclusively about professionalism versus corporate responsibility but the new phenomenon of a third gender in the workplace.
