Figure 6: A bar chart showing the job status of respondents in the company The result in table 6 above shows that, 45 per cent of the respondents working in the company are labourers, 23 per cent of the respondents reported of not being members of management team but that participates in the farm clearing. On the other hand, 21 per cent of the respondents reported of serving as first line supervisors and 6 per cent of the respondents reported of serving in the middle management. In order to overcome these negative impacts, the company should refrain from employing school going children, allow locals to have access to most fertile lands to cultivate their farms, adopt organic farming and engage in tree planting in between the sugar cane plants. Such planted trees will continue to develop to maturity even when the sugarcane plants have been harvested.
