In November, Brian voted in the presidential election at the Gayton Library. He enjoyed looking at the ballot and marking each bubble for his selection. Brian visited his parents and family for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. He stated he enjoyed seeing his family and eating all the holiday favorites.
In December, Brian volunteered for the Salvation Army and rang the bell at their donation station outside the Willow Lawn Kroger supermarket. Brian braved the cold weather and enjoyed greeting people for one hour. This volunteer opportunity was coordinated with his Ventures group.
Brian was supported by everyone with the death of his mother on 12/19. Brian knew his mother was sick and in the hospital for a few weeks but his sister in law
During the break the volunteers asked us several questions. From what I gathered all of the volunteers also need the assistance of the pantry. Many asked us how they could help us, assuming we had fallen on hard times. I assured them they we were just there to help them and donate our time. Volunteers receive each goods in their boxes in return for their help.
In 1992, not long after retiring, Dick walked down the road to visit the estate and returned home as a volunteer. “I came upon volunteering on accident,” he recalled. Dick devoted about 500 hours of his time each year until 2002 when he relieved Jack Evans as the Volunteer Manager. As he approached Evans’s record for the most hours volunteered, Dick was unsure if he wanted to unseat Evans. He cut back his volunteer time to avoid surpassing Evans, but Dick decided to beat the record because “I wasn’t ready to be done,” he admitted.
And the characterization of Brian’s life. “It had been John’s idea to invite her (mom) Lori and Brian out to the house for Thanksgiving, the first walls family get-together since Dad’s funeral”(Walls 285). Here we know that Jeannette wasn’t planning on having a Thanksgiving meal with her family. So we know the beginning of the family Thanksgiving event. Then Jeannette says that “through the crowd, I saw Mom and Lori getting out at the back of the train, and I waved”(Walls 285).
It is time to get the word out about the Smiling Soldier Project. We will depend on county’s involvement for the promotion of this project. We will request free advertising for our local radio stations and encourage the use of social networking sites to send the word out. Pounding the pavement looking for donations from local businesses will be crucial. We will depend on the church to assist in announcing our needs for donations, volunteers, and provided space for packaging. It is time to fetch your family, friends, classmates, teammates, neighbors, and church community to become

“We are Chicago's Jesuit Catholic university - a diverse community seeking God in all things and working to expand knowledge in the service of humanity through learning, justice, and faith.” In attempt to fulfill this mission as a student of Loyola University of Chicago, I decided to volunteer at the Lakeview Pantry. Personally, I believe that this was the most efficient way to effectively volunteer while being myself. I aim to either cultivate or participate in physical change, and at Lakeview, I could.
Every Wednesday and Friday, I served with the Last Call 4 Grace ministry. I helped provide meals for people who barely have a roof over their heads. First, the other volunteers and I formed an assembly line. Then, we packed food in to go boxes. On Wednesday of the first week, we packed pizza and brownies. On Friday, we packed hot dogs, potato chips, and cookies. During the following week, we packed burritos for the first day and rice with broccoli for the second. In addition to the main meal, we also provided bread, Halloween candy, and other sweets.
the united states, the salvation army served as being one of the greatest nonprofit organizations to aid in food, clothing, and shelter for those who were in need throughout all of America. “Today, the Salvation Army still operates in more than 75 countries around the globe. Including more added hospitals, donation centers, disaster services, rehabilitation centers, community centers, and thousands of voluntary contributions centers not only in America but throughout the world” (History.com, 2012). The Salvation Army prides in providing millions of families that are less fortunate with essentials that everyday middle class families take for granted. In addition, this action allows middle class people within their own community to open their hearts and give what they can, be little or nothing; would create a gigantic difference to those who are less fortunate. Throughout the centuries, the Salvation Army continues to a successful organization because they have the ability to provide a helping hand to everyone that is in need. The Salvation Army creates a gateway to wholehearted people who desire to help others less fortunate. The
There were more than a thousand registers and volunteers at that time. It was a warm Saturday morning, a perfect planning and everyone felt happy and excited for the good cause. I finished 2 miles run even though I have had a limited physical strength. Recently, I have visited the shelters and had a privilege to interview Manager who is in charge the place provided me as much information as I need. Thomas House supports approximately 135 to 150 individual per year within their current owned of 16 apartments. Last years, over 95% of their residents graduated from our program, 89% moved into their own house and 81% got full-time job. I know that many people are without deep pocket or even they work hard to make money for their lives. However, just image ourselves donate by registering for event running for homeless children. The amount Thomas House can get and they can help a single mom of two who came to US from a domestic violence. Thomas house has been able to provide her with an independent home-cleaning business. That's mean the provide them with a new beginning, and we are help her too. As everyone know no one has ever become poor from giving. Just imagine how happy she is with her children, and we feel good
Throughout my life, I’ve always had an immense interest in helping others. Being involved in the National Charity League for 5 years has given me the opportunity to be involved with charities that I otherwise would’ve never known about. I’ve had the privilege to help with over b charities in and around my community throughout my years as an NCL member. By far my favorite would have to be Grace’s Feed Our Kids that I have volunteered at every summer since my start in NCL. Through this charity, we are able to provide lunches and fun games to underprivileged kids in Grapevine during the unbearably hot Texas summer days. Each day we serve different meals, either donated from local restaurants or homemade by my NCL class, and have a variety of things for the kids to do, like coloring, water guns,
“The Winner Within” is about a life plan for team players and what it takes to be a successful team. Each chapter is based on one subject, and that subject is one of the many things that a team needs to be successful. Pat Riley shares his game plan for team players in all of life, not just on the court. All of the strategies in this book are very inspiring and motivate teamwork. I think that the first chapter in the book, ‘The Innocent Climb’, is one of the most important concepts you have to have on a team. The innocent climb is the surge that occurs within a team as they are accomplishing more because of the synergy that occurs within a team. Innocence means understanding that the team comes first and being carried along by that.
When considering different organizations, Ben searched and called around to a bunch of different shelters, and retirement homes to find us a place to volunteer at for our ministry project. After a few of our ideas fell flat on us, Ben finally got connected with the Interfaith Shelter in downtown Jackson. When Ben called there, a guy picked up and Ben inquired if they had some possible volunteer work for us to help out with for a couple of hours. The man replied with saying yes, and that he has a job for us if we wanted. Going into this shelter, we had no idea what we were going to be doing, which was the fun aspect and the real ministry part of this project.
Kerlin Diaz Government 2306 Professor Sherry Sharifian May 2, 2018 When You Win. SLO #3 In my campaign it is important to have a connection and to be supported by other committees because I will be serving with them and having same ideas is a good opportunity. For me to have a strong support of them I have to agree with almost all of their options which in this case I agree with most of their decisions, it makes my decision easier. I have decided to work with three of these communities. Those three are: 1) Agriculture, water & Rural Affairs, 2) Education and 3) Health & Human Services.
A passion for citizenship has lead my community service to veer towards assisting current active members and veterans. My great grand father, a veteran himself, inspired me to help the men and women who protect our country. One of my favorite activities I participated in was a local 4-H pancake feed. As head of the committee for the pancake feed, I made advertisement and organized volunteers to prepare the pancakes and the venue. A profit of $1900 donated to Fort Dodge, in Fort Dodge Kansas. The money was used to purchase furniture for the retired veterans that reside in the fort. Another activity I partook in was the preparation of "Golden Boxes"; the boxes contained treats, practical supplies and gifts. Unlike Stockings that are sent during
