From my own experience, our school has many problems. Kaneland has to consider some new ideas for the students learning capabilities. Our school needs to change to provide a better education. Many schools structure their day better; our school should follow their example. I think that the first change to the day would be the amount of time spent at school. We should have a later start because kids will be well rested and more capable to learn easier. Another change would be a shorter day. We should have this because after long periods of time sitting still, kids get restless. Our school also needs better class options. For example, students should be able to play different instruments like the guitar during school hours. Another thing is that only core classes should be mandatory. Some kids do not enjoy drawing or painting so they shouldn't have to. Teachers are also too strict with passing periods. Our school should change passing period to be longer because people need to do stuff like go to the bathroom. Kids also need to have a little social break so they can let their …show more content…
One problem with lunch is the food options. All of the food in the lunch lines are really unhealthy causing kids to get bad eating habits. The food is also cheaply made, making it taste unsatisfying. Another thing the school needs to take into consideration during lunch time is the students freedom. The monitors don't even let kids get up to talk to your friends. I feel like this is unfair. They also make you raise your hand to get up and go to the bathroom! If someone needs to use the restroom they shouldn’t have time to sign out. The students should also be able to be more social. The school blocks all social media on their wifi which restricts students from interacting with each other. They also block all games on the wifi too. The school should allow kids to enjoy themselves during lunch each day. Our schools lunch period should
Have you ever thought actually about how school lunches taste? School lunches are horrible. Students and even the staff from the school has complained about how disgusting school lunches are. School lunches should be improved because what the cooks and the district make isn't enjoyable to eat.
HELP! I'm dying!... because school lunches are cringing! Students should be allowed to leave class during lunch hours, and be trusted to leave and return back in time for their next class. If high schools gave students this right it would teach them how to manage their time wisely and it would help them become responsible. Students who leave campus during lunch are most likely end up going to a local business to get their lunch which is both good for the students and the local businesses. Students with special food allergies could leave campus during lunch and go to their homes and get food they could actually eat and not be worried that their food could have been cross contaminated to something they're allergic to. Students who leave campus during lunch would come back energized and ready for their next classes.
During an open campus lunch break student can either go home to get food, go to a restaurant or a fast food place. Open campus lunch is a good idea for students in high school in grades 10 through 12 and the occasionally students in 9th grade because, it would save schools money by not having to make much food, kids could have better food, it gives the students some free time, and it gives them a chance to have more responsibility and independence. It would also give students a little bit of freedom and a break from their classes. It is a privilege to be able to go off campus for lunch. If students are not back in class after the given amount of time or in their next class, punish them. School lunches
Schools should change how they serve lunches. I have a couple of reasons for this. The first thing that the school should do is change how we serve food by placing everything out like a salad bar. The second reason why I think they should change is the lunch ladies wouldn't have to worry about students complaining about the food as much.
Wandering kids. Bumper to bumper traffic. Drug dealing. Is this the picture drawn when local students have fifty minutes of freedom during lunch to do whatever they please? Students should not be allowed to leave their school campus during lunch. An open campus would lead to truancy, disturb local businesses and neighborhoods, and cause crime.
Schools are always changing and evolving with new students every year; so why not change some other things to benefit the school system. Changing and adding different curriculum in the school environment, is something that should be considered to benefit Streator High School. For example, changing the school starting time to give students more time to prepare themselves for another day at school. Another change that would be advantageous to be brought into Streator High School is to add open campus lunch. Changing up the curriculum would also be obliging. Adding a sign language class would be beneficial to staff and faculty. This would be for students to be able to interact with others that use that for their only communication with others, resulting in a closer, more friendly school environment. There would be an overall positive impact in the school community by adding these changes. More involvement, improvement in the the economy of our town, and improving the overall academics at the high school would be the result of these changes.
In the recent survey more than 54% of high school students say the school lunches don't have enough food or nutrition. Students should have the right to eat healthy and good tasting food. The district who orders the school lunches have been losing money for buying the lunches every year. Leading to a continuous decline in quality. The lunches are not enough nutritious for any athletes or the kids in general. The kids do not have enough food to stay healthy and energized. The school has lost to much money for lunches, and they are leaving kids hungry, sluggish, and miserable.
A reason why many school districts disagree with open lunches is because it gives the students an opportunity to get into mischief. With the students not supervised by teachers or adult supervision, it gives them the opportunity to do whatever they wanted. In this case students have the chance to do drugs, speed in their cars, and do other unlawfully activities. Also, it gives the student an opportunity to leave school and not come back. I can imagine many students just going home after they had finished their morning classes. Not all students will take full advantage of the privilege to go where they would
Secondly, students do not even bother to get school lunch is because the lunch lines are so long. It would be much easier for a student to buy food from vending machines, student store, or from other students selling food. Most of these easier access food are very unhealthy for the body, “...average american consumes 44.7 gallons of soft drinks” (Bad Food? Tax It, and Subsidize Vegetables, p.6). In general students do not enjoy waiting, they rather go “ straight to the pizza line then wait in the long lines for a better option” ( survey, question 2).
If you could make changes in your school lunchroom, what would they be? We can all relate, because first off, public school food isn’t the best. I understand the fact that kids and teens love junk food, but would a few changes hurt? Healthier lunches, more sanitation and a more organized relaxing place to hang around between classes.
Students should be able to leave school for lunch because it would benefit the businesses that sponsor the school and it would give the students more of a variety of options for lunch to chose from for lunch.
After lunch there is still an hour of school before students take the buses home, but that hour is useless. After lunch students are sleepy and mentally exhausted and suffer from post-lunch syndrome. If students are tired after lunch, most of them will fall asleep in class and not learn anything. That is very bad, especially if they have a class after
In my opinion school lunch wouldn't be that bad if the healthy hunger free kids act didn't make sure that school lunches are healthier. Greasy pizza, salty French fries and sauces up chicken wings are not healthy and that meals at school should be lower in fat, calories and sodium and contain lean proteins, more fruits and vegetables. But school lunches shouldn't be mostly whole grains because personally I don't like whole grain foods and since my school started serving almost everything whole grain, I rarely eat lunch because kids don't like whole grain or wheat bread. If my school and other schools should start serving white wheat bread, because white wheat doesn't taste like wheat bread, it tastes like regular white bread l, and if schools
Students shouldn’t have to pay for school lunch. Image a student trying to get lunch, but can’t because they don’t have enough money or they owe dept. The lunch lady will then throw away their lunch and provide something not appetizing. If the lunch lady gives them free lunch, the school fires the lunch lady. In New Mexico, they recently banned schools from “lunch shaming.” Lunch shaming is where students are classified for not having enough money to eat lunch. They banned it because they saw how kids were dealing with the struggles of not eating and still having to learn. No one wants a student to go hungry and no one thinks it's a good idea for students to learn with an empty stomach.
The students of our school should rally together and hang the cooks in the Cafeteria. Well, maybe that is a little too dramatic, but something has to be done about the school lunch. The stuff that they serve the students is truly awful. Students should not be forced to eat in the cafeteria because the meals are not prepared well, there are foreign objects in the deserts, and many kids have gotten ill after eating certain items.
