In this assignment, I will discuss the Atlantic Shrimp Company EEO policy and determine if the company is in compliance with the Federal Government laws pertaining to discriminatory policies in the workplace. I will provide information about what the federal laws are pertaining to hiring workers in the United States; and what requirement are mandated. I will highlight what agencies enforce discrimination in the workplace and what statues and regulations The Atlantic Shrimp company are obligated to enforce. The Atlantic Shrimp company has been found to employ all Caucasian’s workers under the age of 40, and have stated all employees or applicants are required to have a minimum of a high school diploma or a GED.
Federal Laws prohibit workplace discrimination and are enforced by EEOC. These are passed by Congress and signed by the President (EEOC, 2017). One of the mail agencies that’s been charged with this task is The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). It’s responsible for enforcing federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee because of the person's race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.
