NBA vs WNBA Victor Zuniga Composition and Communication I June 30, 2013 Abstract We are going to talk about the differences about the National Basketball Association and the Woman National Basketball Association. Because right now the popularity on the WNBA is known than the NBA, mainly because of the excitement of the NBA brings to the fans is a lot more entertaining than the WNBA, obviously because in the NBA have more money to pay their players and to have nice venue. An interview on ESPN said that an NBA game draws over double the attendance of a WNBA game, which means that there will be more ticket sales as well as merchandise sales and endorsements. This means that owners of WNBA teams are making much less money
The Women’s National Basketball Association, more commonly known as the WNBA, is a professional basketball league consisting of 12 teams spanning across the United States. The league was founded in 1996 but didn’t officially kick off until 1997. While it’s not the first major women’s professional basketball league in the United States, the WNBA is the only league that has received full backing from the National Basketball Association, more commonly, the NBA. Now in its 20th season under the direction of league president Lisa Borders, the regular season is played from June to September with the playoffs spanning through the remainder of September into the middle of October. Although they have the full backing from the NBA, there are still a few discrepancies between the two leagues. Even though WNBA games are not as exciting as NBA games, the players of the WNBA deserve equal pay because the team mindset makes the game more challenging, players continue to show their hard work in the offseason by playing overseas, and they inspire young girls by providing for charities as a result of their work.
WNBA Goes Overseas Background “We Got Next”. This phrase is most commonly used around the asphalt when vying to play the next game of pick up basketball. Founded on April 24, 1996, the NBA Board of Governors approved the concept of a Women’s National Basketball Association. The Women’s National Basketball Association
From my perspective, studying an organizational culture requires the help from both internal and external teams. According to Keyton (2011), “a cultural analysis integrates both insider and outsider perspectives” (p. 167). Without no doubt, the internal team will focus on building the culture since they know the importance of a culture that influences the employees and have convenient access to get information. On the other hand, the external team may consider how to achieve the general, a long-term business goal, and the decision made based on an objective perspective.
So who’s really better men or women? It’s all up to someone’s choice but I have to say that women are better due to certain statistics shown throughout the essay. Everyone will all have a different viewpoint based on their preference of athletes. However, I believe that a woman can do anything a man can do regardless if it sports or an occupation. It doesn’t matter if someone likes the WNBA better or the NBA better they are both great sports and they both have great athletes.
Every paying job has different amounts of pay; whether you work at a school and get paid $37,000 or $54,000, you are still doing the same job. The only difference is the amount of years you’ve worked there, and what subject you teach. This is just like what happens to the WNBA players and NBA players, only when playing basketball, you are doing the same exact thing. Between the WNBA and NBA there is a huge margin in pay.
Dear Greensboro Swarm and the Charlotte Hornets, I am applying for the Communication internship position. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity working for your organization. I became aware of the opportunity online and also through my professors at High Point University.
History The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) was formed in 1981 when a group women coaches met at the Olympic Festival in Syracuse, NY. The initial meeting included legendary women basketball coaches Pat Summit, Kay Yow and Vivian Stringer. During the first year, the WBCA establishes a board of directors, creates a logo, and establishes Backboard Bulletin as its first publication. The WBCA started in Philadelphia before moving in 1985 to its current headquarters in Atlanta. The organization continues to grow in its influence and importance in the game of women’s basketball through educational programing, networking opportunities, information and news, legislative and rule changes, and representing a voice collectively of the membership to the NCAA and other governing bodies in women’s basketball.
Kevin Durant left the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors. This proves the theroy “if you fall down, get back up and take the easiest road to reach your goals.” My parents taught me that no matter what happens always maintain your integrity and work hard for what one wants in life. I will use my scholarship money to help further my education in the Criminal Justice degree program. I will then be capable to earn the neccesary stratigies and information such as my decision making, communicating skills to help my community as a police officer.
I do believe that it is very important to be involved with not only your school but also
Even though the New Orleans Pelicans signed Anthony Davis to 5 year / 145 million dollar extension this past off-season. The Pelicans should strongly consider trading Davis within the next 2-3 seasons because Davis has missed at least 15 games in each of his first three seasons due to a number of injuries, which include sprained right shoulder, sprained MCL and a fractured left hand. If Anthony Davis continues to sustain injuries that force him to exit or miss games he will not be able to lead the Pelicans to any real team success. Real team success for the Pelicans would be winning 50-55 regular season games and making it pass the first round. For the Pelicans to achieve this goal they would need Davis 75 to 80 games without missing big portions of games to attend to an injury. Since the Pelicans do not have another impact player on their roster that can help them tread water until Davis.
It’s no secret that WNBA players are grossly under paid in comparison to NBA players. This article will truly show you how bad this wage gap is. Sylvia Fowles is the reigning WNBA MVP and a huge contributor for the Minnesota Lynx (2017 champs). Just to give you some numbers of what exactly she did last season, she had the top field-goal percentage, second in rebounds per game, second in blocks per game and overall the fifth leading scorer in the league. Sylvia got paid an estimated $109,000 this past year with certain small bonuses coming in for being a top performer. In comparison, Kevin Durant, the reigning 2016-2017 NBA MVP made an estimated $26.54 million, with bonuses of course. How can it be 2018 and the top WNBA players only make a fraction
The NBA went from rising to declining and rose back up to what it is today. The NBA was always up there with all the other sports, but the NBA is the biggest it has been in years. The NBA is going to keep growing and become one of the most popular sports in the world. The way the players interact with fans, the playability of the game, and what they do off the court.
