Dr Peter Murphy who specializes academically in the field of tourism management, furthermore his interests have been in finding solutions for common problems. In 2008 Dr. Murphy published a book which states, to develop long term sustainable operations resorts should aim to achieve the following four objectives;  Making a profit  Developing an attractive and competitive product  Developing an attentive and skilled workforce  Becoming a sustainable operation 1) Making profit is what keeps an organization running, without this businesses will not be able to expand and increase in volume 2) To gain high profitability and increase sales, competitive advantage is essential. 3. Evaluation and control: this step monitors the plans progress and makes necessary corrections if needed over time to control the planning process. Among the above steps are the four classic functions of management, which have been italicized above and are discussed in more detail below. Planning is the first phase in the function of management, this is done by drawing out the leaders ideas and putting it on display for the local community to see. In other words this is called a vision, once this is accepted by the community the planning process begins. Many group stakeholders will be involved to achieve the desired goal. It bridges the gap from where we are & where we want to be” Organizing is the next major task. A small town can be compared to the complexity of running a modern resort, so the leaders will have to build a management and staff to bring their ideas life. According to Henry Fayol, “To organize a business is to provide it with everything useful or its functioning i.e. raw material, tools, capital and personnel’s”. Leading is the third major task as resorts need supervision, motivation, leadership and motivation for the organization to work efficiently to achieve the organizational goals.
