A list of thirty-five (35) agencies was obtained through United Community Services. The qualitative research for these questions was conducted and received through a series of phone calls. Internet research was used for qualitative and quantitative purposes. The location of the contacted agencies was throughout Berks County and the surrounding areas of Pottstown, Lehigh and Schuylkill counties. However, out of the 35 agencies that were contacted only fourteen (14) agencies participated in this research. The remaining agencies did not respond after several repeated calls and leaving voicemail message which were not returned. One agency declined to participate in this research. The results of this research will hopefully give United Community Services a general idea on how they would like to proceed in building and starting their home care agency. This research information will also assist them in developing goals, implementing services to their future clientele and strengthening their training resources for future graduates who will be hired as direct care workers. The 19% will have exhausted all their personal resources, before becoming eligible for Medicaid. Although they become eligible, Medicaid only pays a little over $8.00 an hour towards nursing home care while Medicare only plays for about 13% of the care. This leads to the question who pays for the rest? In-home care is the most affordable when compared to the other home care options. In-home care offers not only the privilege of residing in your own home, it also offers a solution to help alleviate the extra expense that comes with assisted living and nursing home
I was given my first placement in a residential care home for the elderly located next to a busy main road in a small town. Established for over 25 years, the home is owned and run by qualified nurses who specialise in looking after confused, elderly residents. It can accommodate 32 service users for residential care and also provide respite care, day care and dementia care. There are currently 18 full or part time care staff plus domiciliary workers operating on a 12 hour shift system.
The challenge America now faces is the number of people reaching retirement will double in number by 2030, and the U.S. population will increase almost 20 percent ("Our Aging Nation," 2015). The goal is for the elderly to maintain and live with independence and dignity, as well as, provide a wide range of professional health and social service expertise, home care, and residential support and services that will be needed ("Our Aging Nation," 2015). Since the number of caregivers needed for this population will not be able to meet the demands other resolutions are considered necessary.
In addition, Community Care Services provides much needed monitoring and support service to ensure the older person is able to live in their own home. They cover everything from community nursing, meals, domestic help, personal care, home modifications, transport and day therapies and support for people with cultural and identifiable needs, as well as for people with particular health conditions. For example, meals on wheels services provide a nutritional food, Vital Call service to help the aged people in an emergency case. Some of the ways may support the older people are get assistance with “home help”,
Our elderly population is living longer than ever before and not all of them are entering into a nursing home. They are choosing to stay in their own home or their caregiver is choosing it for them. Some caregivers are choosing to move their ageing love one in the home with them. Whatever the case may be, there is an increased need for some type of home health as it applies to the elderly population. “Medicare will pay the full cost of professional help only if the physician
In terms of health and social care, a care home may allow workers to have an input into what is included in the policy and making sure that it is clear to others what the policy is stating. All policies should also use a government defined definition of what discrimination is and then relate that to the
The alternative in providing care for a dependent family member is keeping them in their own home, or the home of a family member. In recent years there has been a move in market place to an idea that is much more cost effective to provide most of the same services that traditionally found in a long-term care facility in the home. It is estimated that providing these services in the home are approximately $21,800.00 a year. It is also important that these figures only cover the cost of providing skilled health care. These figures do not cover additional expenses occurred in the home such as the cost of room and board. In many instances, the idea of keeping family members in the home where their care, may be more closely supervised is becoming increasingly appealing. Many health care providers are recognizing this and providing more and more services available in the home. In today’s market place anyone can find nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and respiratory therapy companies
In these services they would usually be offered help with activities of daily life, such as eating or bathing. Some home services also give them other benefits such as residential services, personal care or case management. To give more open details on experiences of Medicaid beneficiaries who need home and communities based services Musumeci and Reaves discuss nine seniors who are disabled and who live in different states. Those include people with different kind of disabilities which can be either developmental, physical or intellectual and issues such as autism, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and their functional limitations that are there because they aged (Musumeci & Reaves, 2014). Based on interview that were given from these people to the Kaiser Commission in 2013 based on Medicaid and uninsured, these peoples’ profiles clearly show us how beneficiaries funds, well-being, status of their employment are affected by the coverage of Medicaid and the role these services play in their daily lives (Musumeci & Reaves, 2014). In the last years states are trying to work on rebalancing long-term care system by dedicating more spending to home and community care rather than institutional care. The reason is this being the efforts that are driven by beneficiaries who are

This legislation is put into place to recognise and ensure that all vulnerable adults within a care home receive a good level of care. My internship was at Cass Community Social Services (CCSS) an agency that provides shelter and resources to various individuals that have been affected by homelessness. This agency has several shelters that accommodates specific populations. I was placed at the shelter that serves male veterans who have been diagnosed with a mental illness. Clients are referred from Veterans Hospital to this agency and program. There is 24 hour on site staffing to assist residents with their needs, a social worker and a licensed nurse to assist with medications. Clients receive room & board, group therapy,
Human Services, Inc. stands by meeting the needs of the client and the community. If a client does not have insurance or no income, we still allow them to receive mental health services. They are required, being Human Services, Inc. is a county contracted organization, to fill out a liability form that ultimately determines how much is due at the end of each month for services. Most of the time, the services are covered by the county. This agency also meets the needs of the community due to accepting almost all insurances, coordinating with public transportation, in addition to coordinating with internal and external resources. This agency does not meet all the needs of the community for the reason that there is always room for

Social Care services sector’s role is to deliver social care systems which offer care equality for all individuals, while allowing people to retain their independence, dignity and control. During the past 20 years the need for social care services in the UK slightly increased. This is mainly due to demographic factors such as an increasing aging population. Therefore this means that more care and residential care homes are needed. Also, a number of women with small children, who decided to come back to work, is growing. This means that there is a need for new nursery and pre-schools, which would look after the children.
