1. According to our course text, what major considerations should you have in mind in describing other people in your report?
There are three major considerations that criminal justice practitioners must remember when describing people in their reports. Firstly, one should remember to “describe people in the same way, in a preset order (Miller & Whitehead, 2015).” Secondly, be exact when describing the person's description. It is important not guess the person's descriptions or add vague recollections later. This could potentially lead to police officer looking for the wrong suspect because the description is faulty. Thirdly, if a person cannot describe the suspect do not press them too hard for a description. This is especially true if the

When writing about property in reports, such as stolen vehicles, it is very important to document the licenses plate number, make, model of the vehicle, year, color or any peculiarities that will make the vehicles more identifiable. However, sometimes the color of the vehicle can be deceptive depending on the lighting. For example, a ford truck that appears to be white could possibly be silver. Therefore, it is important to have a closer view of the vehicle if possible when documenting the description. In addition, it is very important to identify any peculiarities, such as a dent on the left side of the back window or other damages, bumper stickers, or any customized work that was done to the vehicle. This makes the identification process easier and climates the potential of pulling over cars that fits the description of the stolen vehicle. Secondly, it is very important to identify and describe any passenger that are in the vehicle. Lastly, if a person is unfamiliar with certain kinds of property it will be beneficial to consult a catalog or owner’s manual. This will assist the person in identifying sizes and shapes that extent fro, diamonds to casting rods. One should note that reports of stolen property should be documented, even if the property is retrieved. (11
Synopsis: On 10/02/17 at approximately 0050 hours, I, Officer Artaz responded to 2124 South Main Street (Roadway Inn) room 44 in reference to a wanted person. This location is in the City of Delta, County of Delta and the State of Colorado. The wanted person was identified as Shawn Darosett (DOB 03/21/74). This case is cleared adult arrest.
To explain the crime, the criminal involved in the crime tricked the woman into getting in her car by impersonating a parking attendant. He stole the woman’s purse and car keys and drove off with the woman’s vehicle. During the carjacking, the man tried to attack the woman with a screwdriver which resulted in the criminal being stabbed. (“Antonio Beaver”). The victim gave a very vague description of the criminal, mentioning that he was african american, was wearing a baseball cap, was 5’10, had crooked teeth, and had facial hair.
We used a PD artist to create accurate sketches of the criminal, it wasn’t extremely easy. As remembering the criminal’s face and jotting down the exact details was hard. I think it was hard as my
First I would question everyone that was robed/burglarized to try and find any similarities. For example, if the thief is consistent with the item types he is stealing; it might help narrow down what part of town he will attempt theft again. Also I would try and see if I could get a description of the criminal or vehicle from the victims that did get a visual. I would ask for

Another problem is placing a label in front of a name; only adding unnecessary wording and needless work. State, "Lynn told Cole to…" Once you’ve documented who participated and to who did what, refrain from using labels. This will make the readers’ and your job easier; document all the important facts. Rutledge suggests, “Don’t use labels if you can avoid it.”
