Description of the case/ individual
Casey Anthony was born on March 19, 1986 in Warren, Ohio. Casey Anthony was one of two children of Cindy and George Anthony. “Casey was a bright, personable young girl with friends and what many thought was an ordinary American family” (Biography). Friends of Casey say that a pattern of lying began with her in high school. Casey lied to her parents about graduating just for her parents to attend the graduation ceremony and find out that she was not graduating (Biography). One of the lies Casey also told her parents was when she was nineteen years old and denied that she was pregnant when her parents confronted her. Casey claimed that she was still a virgin. Casey Anthony was nineteen years old when she gave birth to her daughter Caylee Anthony. On June 16, 2008 was the last time Caylee was reportedly seen alive. 31 days later Casey’s mother, Cindy Anthony reports to the police that her granddaughter is missing. On July 16, 2008 Casey is arrested for child neglect. On October 14, 2008 Casey is the primary suspect of the death

The question that no one could answer is how does it take a mother 31 days to report her two-year-old daughter missing? In those 31 days that Caylee was missing, Casey was seen drinking and partying and spending time with her boyfriend of the time. As mentioned, the only way Casey was able to cope with the loss of her daughter was to party and drink because that is what she was taught when she was young. She was taught to hide her emotions and pretend like nothing is wrong. Casey did not have time to deal with the abuse she experienced as a child, and taking that into her adolescence and adult life hood is what made her into a criminal. Since she was not given the opportunity to help herself recover from an abusive childhood, and having a child at a young age, is what led Casey to kill her daughter because she did not know how to be a good
Casey Anthony was put on trial for murder on May 24, 2011. The trial lasted six weeks, from May to July 2011. Prosecutors were seeking to give Casey Anthony the death penalty and allegedly claimed that Casey murdered her daughter so she would not have any parental responsibilities for the child. By managing chloroform and applying duct tape onto the child’s mouth, Casey Anthony murdered her own baby. Casey Anthony’s defense team tried to argue against the charges by claiming that the child had drowned on accident in the family's swimming pool on June 16, 2008. The defense contended that Casey lied about this, along with many other issues, because of a dysfunctional childhood. They claimed that she had endured sexual abuse by her father. Casey Anthony’s defense did not present any evidence however on how Caylee died, or any evidence that claimed that Casey was sexually abused as a child, but yet they still challenged every piece of the prosecution's evidence. During her trial; Casey did not testify.
Casey told detectives several lies, including that her nanny had kidnapped Caylee on June 9, and that she had been trying to find her, too frightened to alert the authorities. She was charged with first-degree murder in October 2008 and pleaded not guilty. The prosecution sought the death penalty and alleged Casey murdered her daughter to be free from parental responsibilities by administering chloroform and applying duct tape. The defense team countered that the child had drowned accidentally in the family’s swimming pool on June 16, 2008, and that George Anthony disposed of the body. The defense contended that Casey lied about these issues due to a dysfunctional upbringing, which was said to include sexual abuse by her father. On June 5, 2011, the jury found Casey not guilty of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of a child, but guilty of four misdemeanor counts of providing false information to a law enforcement officer. She was released on a bond of $500,000 and a Florida court overturned two of the misdemeanor convictions on January 25, 2013.
It all started in 2008, when Caylee Anthony, a 2year old child went missing. The 2 year old’s mother, Casey Anthony stated to the police that the last time she has seen her daughter was when she dropped her off to the child’s babysitter. (Timeline of Casey Anthony Trial, ABC News Internet Ventures). However, things began to escalate when reporters stated that Casey didn’t report Caylee’s disappearance till a month later. At even that time, it wasn’t Casey who reported Caylee’s death; it was the grandmother, Cynthia Anthony, who was also known in this case at Cindy. (Chuck Hustmyre, Criminal
On July 15, 2008, Cindy Anthony called the police saying her daughter Casey Anthony stole her car and some money. Later that same day the police received another call from the same person saying that her granddaughter Caylee Anthony had been gone for over a month. When this was heard, they knew they had a big case on their hands. The mother Casey Anthony was taken into custody and told many lies concerning the whereabouts of her daughter. The police began to investigate and found some interesting things that could very well prove Casey Anthony guilty of kidnapping and murder of her own daughter.
I remember this story because they played her story on lifetime, Casey Anthony didn’t receive jail time for the crime because they found her not guilty. Casey didn’t want to be a mother anymore and decided to kill her daughter and blame it on the babysitter. There were signs that she was involved in the disappearance of her daughter because she wasn’t acting like a distraught parent who had just lost their daughter. Casey was partying and hanging out with friends and posting the pictures on social media. After reviewing these photos anyone with common sense will see that this is a mother who didn’t care that her daughter was missing. She didn’t try and do anything to help bring her daughter back or even help search for Caylee. That is not the behavior of a parent who lost their child, any parent will be out
On August 5, The State Attorney's Office officially filed formal charges against Casey Anthony for one felony count of child neglect. After two months of being in and out of jail, for both case-related reasons, and other charges unrelated to her missing daughter, a Florida grand jury officially indicted Casey Anthony on charges of first degree murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter of a child, and finally four counts of providing false information to law enforcement officers (Anthony Indictment, 2008). At this point, all charges of child neglect were dropped against Casey due to the belief that Caylee Anthony was presumably dead. Casey Anthony officially plead not guilty to all charges on October 28. For two months following the indictment, Florida’s state Assistant State Attorneys built their case against Anthony. However, on December 11, 2008, the investigation into the disappearance of Caylee’s disappearance changed as officers discovered skeletal remains in the woods behind Cindy and George Anthony's house (CNN Library, 2014). Pieces of duct tape were found on the skull, and hanging from strands of hair and tissue still left on the skull. Eight days later, on December 19, medical examiner Dr. Jan Garavaglia confirmed that the remains found were the remains of Caylee Anthony. Her death was ruled a homicide, but ultimately Garavaglia labeled the cause of death unknown (Office of the Medical Examiner,
On July 15, 2011, three years after her daughter had been missing, Casey Anthony was
Nine-year old Jessica Lunsford was abducted, raped and killed in Florida on February of 2005. Previous convicted sex offender John Couey had a long history full of sex crimes. He failed to tell police after he changed residences, which made it difficult to find him. He was living with his half-sister in a trailer. Many were infuriated in Florida and surrounding communities because Couey was not known to the community as a registered sex offender and was only living miles away from
Things don’t add up in this case which is why I believe that Casey Anthony should have been found guilty. When Casey finally fesses up and tells her parents about Caylee’s disappearance she says that her nanny, Zenaida Fernandez Gonzalez, had kidnapped her. First off if you know who has kidnapped your daughter why have you waited a month to turn her in? How could you just give up on your child like that? Police found Zenaida Gonzalez and she proved that she had never known Caylee or Casey. Now think back, her friends have called her a habitual liar, and now they have caught her in a lie. Casey seems to be getting tangled in her own web of lies.
Also the whole nanny situation was a lie, after detectives went to the apartment complex where supposable Zenaida Fernandez lived records showed that no one by that name had ever been a resident there. The next lie discovered was Casey’s employment, she was actually unemployed and not working at Universal studios like she stated. Records show that she worked there years back but was fired. Detectives saw no ambition in Casey trying to find her daughter, Casey was a liar and never did she show any type of emotions of suffering while talking to the detectives. The biggest concern to police was “Why Caylee was reported missing until a month after she was last seen?”
Casey was cleared of all the charges that were in connection to the first degree murder that she was facing. Casey was also fine for each false statement she gave the jurors.
In 2011, Casey Anthony went to trial facing first-degree murder charges for killing her two-year old daughter, Caylee Anthony. Casey Anthony, despite the mountain of evidence presented by the prosecution, was found not-guilty. The scientific evidence found was analyzed in laboratories using the best technology available but was believed to be science fiction because the methods seemed too farfetched and confusing. The evidence analyzed by forensic scientists and pathologists was reviewed and examined using their years of schooling, study, and research.
A Texas mother named Andrea Yates was freed from prison for the violent murder of her five small children including an infant by reason of insanity. She suffered from severe postpartum psychosis. This form of psychosis can affect mothers after childbirth especially if they already are predisposed to mental illness or depression. During this time a mother can loose her ability to make rational reality based decisions. This is what happened to Andrea Yates and so many other mothers. How can one be accused of a crime when their sanity is in question? Poor mother. If Andrea Yates can be forgiven for her insanity of brutally killing her children, then can 't Alison Quets be forgiven for only wanting to love her children? Who is Alison Quets? She is a 49-year-old single woman from Florida. Ms. Quets said she always dreamed of being a mother even as she worked as an engineer. She underwent invitro fertilization and gave birth to twins, a boy and girl. After the birth of her children she stated she was in a lot of pain from the surgery. Sleep deprived throughout the pregnancy, as well as from handling premature babies alone. As a mother I know how tired you can become from the care of a newborn infant. I couldn 't imagine being single with newborn twins. After stating her body began to give out on her, the inability to heal from the surgery, unable to eat, and sleep, she began to consider adoption. In spite of her dream of mothering, she made the decision to give her twins up for
Additionally there was photographic evidence entered on the case which had been retrieved from the computer of Ricardo Morales, a former boyfriend of Casey Anthony. The picture was that of a poster which said “Win Her Over with Chloroform”. (DD, 2011).
She said “The next nine months, my days consisted of being hungry, of being bored to death because he talked nonstop always about himself”, She said “I mean, talk about self-absorbed. And then my days consisted of being raped. I mean, not once just once but, but multiple times a day.” (Elizabeth) Even though she was such a strong and smart girl her story came with some awful things. "Every time I thought 'OK, this is rock bottom,' I mean, my pajamas have been taken away from me and I'm being forced to wear this nasty robe, the next thing I knew they'd say, 'We're going to have you go naked now,' or I had been forced to drink alcohol, which I had never done before,"(Elizabeth) she told Cooper. "I would throw up and I would pass out and when I'd wake up I'd find that my face and my hair was just crusted to the ground in vomit. I mean, just every time I thought it couldn't get worse, something always happened."(Elizabeth) One day she woke up and decided that she was going to be a survivor and see her family again. So on March 12, 2002 she was rescued and reunited with her family. But with that being said not all children are abducted by pedophiles. More Common abductions are by family members. 150 children are abducted by a mom or dad every day. The incentive for family abduction are frequently caused by custody problems and divorce is an issue also. Normally it has a lot to do with getting back at
