On July 15, 2008 a women by the name Cindy Anthony called the authorities to report the missing her granddaughter Caylee Anthony; Cindy stated that she had not seen her for “quite some time”. The grandmother Cindy informed police that the young Caylee had been missing for roughly a month or thirty days to be exact. She was only two years old (www.biography.com), this would lead to one of the most infamous trials in history when the mother of Caylee, Casey Anthony, was charged with her murder. What raised eyebrows was Casey Anthony’s abnormal behavior after her daughter’s disappearance. Casey Anthony’s trial captured headlines throughout the news and was even being compared to the OJ Simpson trial. This paper will focus on the cases of both …show more content…
For example, an FBI analyst Heather Seubert testified for the defense that “blood, semen and other bodily fluids were not found in Casey Anthony's car, her clothing, the clothing found with Caylee's remains, the car seat in her vehicle or the steering wheel cover.” (articles.orlandsentinel.com) In addition, another analyst, Lorie Gottesman, testified “that when she examined the three pieces of duct tape there was no heart-shaped residue or outline when the evidence was placed under specialized lights.” (articles,orlandosentinel.com). This contradicted the prosecutions accusations of what Casey Anthony did to her daughter and how she disposed of the body. Not to mention, the investigators dropped the ball when they missed several searches from “Whoever conducted the Google search looked for the term "fool-proof suffication," misspelling "suffocation," and then clicked on an article about suicide that discussed taking poison and putting a bag over one's head.”. This search was made over 1,200 times according to csmonitor.com and it wasn't included as evidence against Casey Anthony. Everything the prosecution used against Casey Anthony was thwarted by witness testimonys and this ultimately led to the not-guilty verdict from jurors freeing Casey from charges of “first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter of a
On July 15, 2008 a two year old girl named, Caylee Marie Anthony was reported missing from her Orlando Florida home. The call made by her grandmother to the authorities said that she had not seen Caylee for 31 days and that there was a foul smell in Caylee’s mother, Casey Anthony’s car similar to a dead body. She also reported that Casey stole the family’s car and money. There were several false statements given about the whereabouts of the child of which were eventually put to an end. The body of the child was found in a blanket and ruled a homicide due to the presence of duct tape. The trial lasted six weeks and the death penalty was asked for by the prosecution. Casey Anthony did not testify and the jury found Casey not guilty of first degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of a child but guilty of four misdemeanor counts of giving false information to the law enforcement. She was sentenced to four years in jail in which included time that she already served. She was also fined 1,000$ per count. She served three years and one day.
Casey Anthony was put on trial for murder on May 24, 2011. The trial lasted six weeks, from May to July 2011. Prosecutors were seeking to give Casey Anthony the death penalty and allegedly claimed that Casey murdered her daughter so she would not have any parental responsibilities for the child. By managing chloroform and applying duct tape onto the child’s mouth, Casey Anthony murdered her own baby. Casey Anthony’s defense team tried to argue against the charges by claiming that the child had drowned on accident in the family's swimming pool on June 16, 2008. The defense contended that Casey lied about this, along with many other issues, because of a dysfunctional childhood. They claimed that she had endured sexual abuse by her father. Casey Anthony’s defense did not present any evidence however on how Caylee died, or any evidence that claimed that Casey was sexually abused as a child, but yet they still challenged every piece of the prosecution's evidence. During her trial; Casey did not testify.
The “performers” of the trial played a crucial role in the trial, the verdict and the informal perceptions of Casey Anthony. The prosecutor and defense both played contrasting roles in shaping their client/opponent legally and informally, in the media. The
One being that she told investigators that Caylee was kidnapped by her nanny, Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, when in fact Caylee never had a nanny. She even went as far as to tell prosecutors that Fernandez moved all the time so she wasn’t sure of her where abouts. On the day Caylee was reported missing by Cindy, her grandmother, Casey had told Cindy that she had just talked to Caylee earlier that day which ended up also being a lie. Casey Anthony told police and made a statement to ABC News saying “ I spoke to Caylee on July 15, 2008, the day Caylee was reported missing. Caylee said, "Hi, mommy" and told me a story about her shoes and a book she was reading. "She was excited to talk to me," Casey Anthony said” Hopper. Caylee was already dead. Caylee had been missing for 30 days before anyone knew she was missing and Casey wasn’t the one who called the police, her mother Cindy
Casey Anthony is an Ohio-born and Florida-raised woman that had a daughter named Caylee Anthony be born on August 9, 2005. In the summer of June 2008, following a major argument with her parents, Cindy and George Anthony, who were questioning her suitability as a mother figure, Casey left her parents’ home with Caylee. Over the next couple of weeks, Cindy kept reaching out to Casey concerned about both her and Caylee’s whereabouts. Every time Casey was inquired about Caylee, she would report that Caylee was out under the care of her nanny, Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez. Nothing seemed amiss until July 13, 2008 when George and Cindy received a notice that Casey’s car was currently being held in a tow yard. Upon their arrival to pick up the car,
evidence that I will provide, it is clear that Casey Anthony should have been guilty.
The unsolved murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald L. Goldman has become one of the most discussed cases in all of history. Orenthal James “O.J.” Simpson, the formal professional football player and the ex-husband of Nicole Brown has always been the main suspect in this case. Although found not guilty by the jury, many still believe he was the killer. In this paper, we will discuss in great detail the events that took place at the time of the murder, as well as why or why not O.J. is guilty. If O.J. isn’t guilty, who could have been the mastermind behind these murders?

The Casey Anthony trial was a controversial and a media-encompassed case that followed the disappearance of Caylee Anthony – a two year old girl who lived in Orlando, Florida. The case began on terms that were less than adequate, when Casey’s mother, Cindy Anthony, called authorities on the basis that she had not seen her granddaughter for over 30 days. It should also be acknowledged that the mother had even stated, in her own words, that Casey’s car “smelled like there’d been a dead body,” in it. Investigation led to portion after portion of evidence, along with even more questions on what had befallen Caylee after it turned out that her mother had falsified a slew of information. The original story that Casey offered stated that she had left
every lie told, to the discovery of the poor Caylee’s body, as well as the collecting and

It is difficult to believe that O.J. Simpson was once a respected and celebrated professional football player, sports commentator, and actor. However, his image was irrevocably shattered on June 17, 1994 when Simpson was involved in a car chase that lasted about an hour on California's I-405 (O.J. Simpson leads L.A. police on a high-speed chase, 2013). Dubbed the "Crime of the Century," O.J. Simpson's trial was a media circus and was sensationalized for a number of reasons including Simpson's status as a celebrity, the mishandling of evidence, and the issue of race.
