The most memorable thing that I read was your perception of how the cashier was judging you when you were buying a pregnancy test. In the ending of the first paragraph, you said that cashier’s thoughts might be that you were just another black pregnant teenager. Another thing that was memorable was your experience of getting an ultrasound. The professional looked at you as a human being that is going through an uneasy situation in life, and not as a statistic. The tying in of the cashier’s thoughts and the professional treating you as a person made these events even more memorable. Your father’s injury in Uganda also stood out to me. The misdiagnosis in Uganda potentially could have changed how he lived life. Luckily, he got the right care
The most memorable thing that happened to me would have to be when I got to see my favorite sports team play, the Detroit Tigers. This was my first time ever watching them play and I was excited to see what I was about to encounter. It was a hot summer day when we went to Comerica Park, when we went to go see them play. Our seats we right on the first base line, a perfect spot for a foul ball to come my way. The Tigers were winning throughout the whole game up on the last inning Miguel Cabrera hit a walk off home run that won them the game. Going to the game was a great opportunity for me to get to see the skills and work that they put into the game. This helped me see just how important it is to work as a team and support each other on and
The most vivid memory I recall is of the first trip I ever made to my happy place, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Nothing could ever compare to those 5 days of pure happiness, without a single worry in the world. I truly believe this one little trip shaped the way I want to live the rest of my life.
The job of a cashier involves operating the cash register, coordinating item returns, and answering telephone calls. Handling the cash register requires awareness of current discounts, since the prices and discounts of all items at Hobby Lobby are entered manually. Customer service makes up a large component of this occupation when helping customers locate desired merchandise or staff personnel and ensuring that the customers receive a friendly and efficient checkout. Other tasks included in this job such as organizing and restocking store shelves, returning merchandise to the appropriate location, and pricing items requires great attention to detail and a good memory.
For this assignment we were asked to write a memoir about a significant event in our life. We were graded on our ability to create an engaging opening, write a powerful storyline with a complex self-awareness, and create a piece with a clear beginning, middle, and end. It was expected that we followed MLA format and at least two pages long. For my memoir I wrote about a time I injured myself. I think the main purpose of the assignment was to get us to think about how events in our life impacted who we are today. It was also meant to encourage us to analyze how we reacted to a certain situation and why we reacted in the way we did. Overall it was meant to help us analyze who we are as a person and better understand how we came to be that
The biggest memories that come to me are going to church in my hometown. Every Sunday was a special schedule. I got to wear my best clothes of the week, which was usually a dress, long socks, and a bow for my hair. Once my whole family was ready we would walk to church. On our way, my mom would often stop and talk to neighbors. Sometimes I would have to remind her that we were going to church or tell her that we were going to be late. Mass was an hour or so. After mass, my mom and dad would give me money to buy an ice cream or junk food. When I finished my ice cream, we would walk home with neighbors who lived on the same street. Walking home everybody would talk about how beautiful the ceremony was and how well the priest explained the Gospel. I loved the sense I was given by my neighbors. Comforting and belonging is what I felt when I was around them. McClay and McAllister refer to this as “anchor our memories in something more substantial than our thoughts and emotions,” which is my hometown connecting me back to my neighbors at my
While reading I start to relive that night and opening my door to my boyfriend, hidden behind a giant teddy bear. That night we went out to my favorite restaurant, unfortunately, the waitress took almost an hour to come, but we were too enticed in each others company to mind. The second one is from my birthday; my friends and I ended up going to McDonald’s because our reservation to a high-end restaurant “disappeared”, ironically it became to be the best birthday I had. Both stories reminded me that some of my favorite memories are the imperfect moments in
First of all, reading is an important part of the writing process. It can be difficult to teach students who enter my classroom with different reading levels. Due to this, I use fiction stories to expose my students to a variety of themes and styles of writing. I have found it easier for my students to understand a writing prompt when I have introduced it with a narrative story. For example, we read Jake’s 100th Day of School by Lester L. Laminack for the prompt: Memories are something that are special to you. Think about a time you remember well. It could be a memory about a special celebration, a favorite sports moment, or a fun time with a friend or family member. Write a story about this memory using specific details so that the reader will understand the event and your thoughts and feelings.
The story of my history as a writer is a very long one. My writing has come full circle. I have changed very much throughout the years, both as I grew older and as I discovered more aspects of my own personality. The growth that I see when I look back is incredible, and it all seems to revolve around my emotions. I have always been a very emotional girl who feels things keenly. All of my truly memorable writing, looking back, has come from experiences that struck a chord with my developing self. This assignment has opened my eyes, despite my initial difficulty in writing it. When I was asked to write down my earliest memory of writing, at first I drew a blank. All of a sudden, it became very clear to me, probably because it had some
Memories can last a life time, so we tend to only remember the extraordinary ones. Extraordinary like the essay “The Yellow Ribbon” by Pete Hamill, in which he talks about how a person named Vingo, was riding on a, bus recently released from jail, to this oak tree explaining to some passengers that he had told his wife to leave him if she wanted, since he went to jail or to go to this oak tree and tie a yellow ribbon around it to see if she wants him to stick around and he will go and check it out. In the end, he saw hundreds of ribbons tied on to the tree. Not only is this an amazing story, but also very unforgettable one as well, because he finds out that after four years in jail his wife has enough love for him to go to this tree and tie hundreds of ribbons just to show the type of love the women had for Vingo. I have to say that, I believe this story is truly unforgettable, but I also got a story that is very extraordinary, like the time that I got my very first car. Furthermore, I didn’t just get a car, I got the love of two truly loving parents.
Firstly, when observing shopper behaviour, it is critical to understand that customers can not know they are being observed, therefore it doesn’t consciously or unconsciously influence their behaviour. Because if people know they are being watched, they will become more self-awareness, and it may change their behaviour or what they do as a result (Graves 2010, p.72-74).

Throughout this paper I will be writing about my life, starting from my very first memory and ending with my life as it is now. Since I was brought into this world I had an older sister who is two and a half years older than I am. My parents said right away that my sister was so excited to have me in her life that she did not care that she was no longer the center of my parent’s attention. She acted as if I was her baby. When I was just starting out, as a toddler was the time that I started to develop my first memories, which are not all good. Lets start from the beginning, my first memory that I have of myself would be from when I was almost two years old. In this memory I was attending my papas funeral. I remember that there was the colour red everywhere, all over the walls and even on the seats. It was his favourite colour according to what my parents tell me. From this memory I also remember my parents walking me up to him during his wake and allowing my older sister and I to put a photo of us into his shirt pocket so we would always be with him. After this memory, my next one occurs when I am around the age of two as well. I remember being in my families first home sitting in our kitchen with my mom, on her lap wrapped in my little mermaid blanket, drinking a little bit of tea with her while we watched my older sister catch the bus to go to school. This is still one of my favourite memories because I truly fell that this helped shaped the person I am today. I also
