Beginning in early 1910, Angel Island operated as a base for immigrants on their way to enter the United States. Unlike Ellis Island, Angel Island processed people from Asia and held them there for several weeks. Their severe methods of interrogation, such as stripping their occupants naked and asking multiple questions for hours on end, marked them for notoriety. Although Chinese immigrants were the predominant percentage of the detainees of Angel Island, they were followed closely by Japanese and Korean immigrants. Although much of the experiences there can be disclosed as a unity between the Chinese, Japanese and Koreans, there are stories to be told from these immigrants on their unique perspective on the famed island. Namely the Chinese and Japanese, they have marked their lives into the walls of Angel Island that will be seen and heard of for years to come.
I jumped out of bed on today, June 19, eagerly waiting when I would finally arrive at the Channel Islands National Park. I have been researching this park for some time, and I couldn’t believe that I was going to spend a few days on these wonderful islands. I got together my tent and my supplies, and I sooner or later headed out the door.

Salt Spring Island of British Columbia in the nineteenth century, was filled with hatred. For those who were not of White descent they would soon realize that there was a clear separation between the Whites, Blacks, and Aboriginals. This division is crucial to understand as the Whites were the settlers to this area meaning they took over the land and had a great deal of authority. They manipulated the Blacks into following their social and moral regulations, but were incapable of doing the same for the Indians. Consequently, a rivalry occurred since not all Aboriginals could accept being a means to an end for the Whites. In other words, there was a common ideology amongst the Whites that justice must be served to those Indians who decided to disregard the law.
The original Cape Hatteras lighthouse was built in 1803. The structure was 90 feet tall when it was built. Unfortunately, the lighthouse was too short, and could not stop ships from crashing into the shore. The lighthouse was also not kept very well, resulting in many complaints at the time it was built. In 1868, Congress decided to start building a new lighthouse, and found the money to do it. In 1870 the new lighthouse was lit, and the old one was demolished a year later.

This summer was full of tons of fun activities and places! I went to Tennessee, Mackinac Island, the lake, and went camping. I also did other things like shopping, the fair, the movies, and cheer camp! Something very big that happened this summer is that I became a big sister! Even though becoming a big sister is very memorable, my favorite part of summer was going Mackinac Island and I have so many great memories there that I can’t wait to tell you about!
The earliest inhabitants of Angel Island were the Coast Miwok Indians, who visited often through the use of handmade tule boats. They lived in temporary houses made of branches and tule, and many of them enjoyed fishing and hunting. From 1863 to 1946, the island was an United States army base which was previously declared as a military reserve on January 1850. During World War II, German and Japanese prisoners of war were detained. Angel Island had its first detention camp as a result of the Spanish-American War, holding captured soldiers and American Indians. Because of the diseases that were prevalent during the 1890's, a quarantine station was built to inspect and occasionally disinfect ships from foreign areas. The station was a success — having a staff that took responsibilities for different objectives including deporting persons with diseases such as the yellow fever, gonorrhea, and trachoma.
Only three wolves now remain on Michigan’s Isle Royale, down from nine wolves last year, Michigan Technological University reported. This means that one of the most studied wolf packs in the world are in serious danger of extinction. Wolves on Isle Royale in Michigan have fluctuated over the past 50 years going from 11 wolves all the way to 50 in 1980. But now the wolves are at an all time low at only 3 wolves. Isle Royale is a natural habitat that should not be managed by man. Nature should be allowed to take its course, even if it means the loss of the population of wolves of Isle Royale in Michigan.
In 2019 the government of pennsylvania is deciding to close 3 mile island. I have to disagree with the decision they are making to close Three mile island. They are making a huge mistake and I don't think they realize that. Power plants are taking over the world to create energy. Fossil fuels are not the way to go if the government wants to do that. Basically fossil fuels were being used used since like the 1900s and we use a lot of it and people don't understand that fossil fuels are bad for us and if we run out and we don't calculate it right then we will be stuck with nothing.

Carrizo springs, a small town that I call home, I’ve lived here all my life, since 1999. I have one word to describe about Carrizo Springs: challenging. I illustrate my hometown as challenging since theirs about 6,000 people living in Carrizo Springs. Therefore, each class gets about 140 or less kids. My class has around 120 students, some people may think it’s really easy to be in the top 10 or 20, in reality, it’s a challenge to rank high in your class, everybody is always trying to take someone’s spot. Since my freshman year and now to my senior year, I’ve worked so hard to get where I’m at, I believe that’s why I say this lovely town is challenging because it makes you want to achieve the big goals you planned since you were little. People around you want to see you fail; actually, they believe you are going to
Coney Island has served as a metaphor for countless aspects of society and life. Throughout the years, Coney has been recognized by nicknames from "America's Playground" to "Sodom by the Sea." Welcoming all race, social class, gender, and ethnicity, the land without sun is the symbol of the best of America’s democratic nature for most individuals. Although many people seem to enjoy Coney Island the way is it now, it is no doubt that it will soon come crashing down due to its hectic ways. With tens of thousands of folks attending weekly, and the number of children that get lost, it is a recipe for disaster. The openness of Coney has allowed for the introduction of a criminal component such as horse racing, boxing, gambling, drinking, and prostitution. The
