Today's media has sparked a huge interest in online dating. With the new way to find your next partner, it looks positive, but it comes with warnings. Not only do you need to be careful of how much information you tell them, but you also need to be aware if you are talking to a real person or a fake profile. It may be challenging to figure out what the truth is but along with the new age technology you can find out anything. It takes no time to look upsomeone on Facebook or Google and swift through pages of information, deciding if they are real or if you have just become the newest victim of Catfish.

In the documentary, Catfish, Nev Schulman finds himself getting close to a girl named Megan. He soon becomes romantic interested in her. Soon into their online relationship though, Nev becomes suspicious of Megan and what she has been telling him. He figures out that she copies music from people and has lied about other stuff. He plans a surprise trip to where she states she lives to get to the bottom of it. After meeting with
"Megan's mom", He discovers that Megan does not exist and everything that he has been told for months has been all a lie. The person he met, was behind everything and said that she was bored with her own life so she made up fake people.

Nev uses his experience with being Catfish, to set up a tv show with the same title, and helps people who think they too are being catfish to seek out the truth.
