So Why Do Cats Meow?
Most cat owners are troubled due to loud crying of their pets in the middle of the night. This has been a common and certainly an annoying behavior of cats particularly, those older ones. Cats often cry because they seek attention from their owners and they want to be reassured that they are not being left alone. Cats’ meow during daytime is natural, but when it cries at night, it seems more demanding and disturbing to cat owners. There are reasons why cats behave this way. It can be due to changes in the surroundings or due to transfer from one house to another. It may take some time for them to fully adjust. Cat owners need to understand this behavior carefully, and find ways to minimize problems on cat’s meowing habit.

The Kitty Genovese story is a tragic one and is a controversial topic when ethics come into play. Though she screamed for help repeatedly while being stabbed the observers from the surrounding apartments did very little to assist the young woman. One observer in specific did shout “Leave the girl alone” and that deterred the assailant for a brief moment but whether or not he acted ethically is something of a different matter. Are we going too far for our pets? How far is considered too far? And how far are you willing to go for your pets?

The author emphasizes that “you cannot get Purina sloth chow at Walmart.” The food would need to be specially purchased and made. Also, many of the sloths in America are obtained illegally.
