The average family in the United States causes about eighty-five tons in climate change according to Cleaner and Greener Leonardo Academy. That much pollution produced by just one family is already enough to harm the environment so imagine what all the families in the world produce and how much harm that is causing. In this essay I will be explaining what causes different kinds of air pollution, why they are harmful to the environment and the people living in it, and what people can do to help reduce the amount of air pollution in the air. Air pollution has many different categories and each is harmful in their own way. Almost every kind of air pollution is caused by these simple things, Energy use, fossil fuels, technology, and vehicles.
Air pollution is the type of pollution that is the most dangerous of them all. The major cause of pollution is by the emissions of smoke from automobiles that especially emit suplur dioxide, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide. These gases can play a role in creating acid rain and smog. Sulfur dioxide and carbon dioxide are greenhouse gases which are warming up the planet .Air pollution leads to people getting sick such as getting increasing the risk of lung cancer and other types of cancers, asthma, and allergies, getting headaches, respiratory diseases cardio vascular problems, and neurobehavioral disorders.
Air pollution causes great damage to the environment. These damages include acid rain, eutrophication, haze, ozone depletion, global climate change, etc. "Acid rain is precipitation containing harmful amounts of nitric and sulfuric acids."Acid
Another big problem in polluting places and things is air pollution which can make air foggy, unbreathable, and toxic. According to “34 Facts about Pollution”, the text states breathing the air in Mumbai, India, for just one day is equivalent to smoking 100 cigarettes. One of the things that can cause air pollution is releasing factory fuels and fossil fuels into the air. We also cause it from burning certain things like plastic, chemicals, and other
One of the most well known problems of the world is air pollution. It’s a pressing matter, as “approximately 3.3 million people die prematurely each year from causes directly linked to air pollution” (Hoyle, “Air Pollution”). These deaths cost the US economy about $225 billion in lost labor income. Also, “diseases attributed to both types of air pollution caused 1 in 10 deaths in 2013, or more than six times the number of deaths caused by malaria” (“Air Pollution Deaths”), which shows that this issue is something that needs to be desperately fixed. Despite many attempts to curb air pollution, it is still a prominent fixture that is not going away.
One of the reasons that cause air pollution in the United States is combustion of fossil fuels. United states known as the developed countries. For big countries, there will have many moving vehicles. Burning oil from fossil fuels such as diesel is burnt in moving vehicles cause air pollution. When the oil is burned, dangerous gases released into air and the environment. From that, if the people overuse of fossil fuel, its will kill the environment as dangerous gases are polluting the environment and harm the habitat. Because of our selfishness, other must face hardship cause of air pollution that is produced from the environment also from the human. From the source that was found, according to Rakesh from Conserve Energy Future (CEF), dangerous
There are many kinds of air pollution. The ones I want to talk about are the ozone, acid rain, carbon monoxide and toxic air contaminants. Ozone is formed when hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxide react in sunlight.
Earth is the only place in the universe that can support human life. It is very important that we realize this fact and take very good care of it. Various human activities cause the destruction of earth. Human beings can live a few days without food and water however humans can last only a few seconds without oxygen. Various human activities lead to the aggravation of the quality of air. Gases produced by human activities mainly due to exploitation of resources and industrialization cause air pollution. Green house gases mainly chlorofluorocarbons; carbon
According to National Geographic Magazine, countries around the world have undertaken and implemented measures to combat air pollution. These measures aim to limit emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that contribute to air pollution. The United States of America is one of the hundred and seventy five (175) countries that signed the Paris Agreement to combat climate change which includes air pollution. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of United States of America formulates strategies and enforces laws and regulations such as the Clean Air Act (CAA). The EPA as the enforcing agency stipulated in the clean air act that all stationary sources such as factories and chemical plants “must install pollution control equipment
There are two main types of air pollution, particulate matter (PM) and ozone. Particulate matter is some tiny dust. For example, according to a beam of light at night there are countless dusts floating in the air. They are particle. Ozone is an invisible chemical gas in the air. When these gas touch with light will become smog. Factory and vehicles exhaust emissions have become the largest cause of PM and ozone pollution in the United States. If a plant wants to run, they need to burn fuel to provide power; however, a lot of particulate matter will float in the air when the factory burns fuel. When people drive cars can
The large majority of todays cars and trucks travel by using internal combustion engines that burn fossil fuels and gasoline. A variety of emissions are polluted into the atmosphere when burning gasoline to power cars and trucks. Emissions that are released directly from cars and trucks into the atmosphere are the primary cause of car pollution but it still causes pollution the air during the manufacturing and refueling processes. Primary pollution from motor vehicles is pollution that is emitted directly into the atmosphere where as secondary pollution is caused from chemical reactions between pollutants after they have been released into the air at least 92 million Americans still live in areas with chronic smog problems. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency predicts that by 2010, even with pollution controls more than 93 million people will live in areas that violate health standards for ozone (urban smog) and more than 55 million Americans will suffer from hazardous levels of fine particle pollution, which is especially dangerous to children and senior citizens.
In the United States alone, nearly 150 million people live in areas that don’t meet federal air quality standards. For many years, air pollution has been on the rise but more recently it’s been proved how pollution poses a greater danger to both the environment and the everyday individual. Its everlasting effects on the world, such as global warming and its depletion of the ozone layer, are going to play a huge role in the years to come. Consequently, there has been an increase in death rates from various illnesses caused by air pollution, varying from breathing problems to even worse, lung cancer. While these effects may go unnoticed, they are still an enormous issue at hand and are triggering more complications within our society. Though
At the first, what is air pollution? The air pollution is contamination of air by the discharge of harmful substances. We’ve got many pollutants, which cause air pollution. Like carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, lead and many more. All of these pollutants can cause lot of illnesses, like cancer, birth defects, brain and nerve damage, long-term injury to the
Air, is one of the most substantial source to mankind and our planet. While it exists, so does everything else along. However, in today’s epidemic, there has been certain factors that have increased in understanding whether the air we breathe today is healthy or not? Is it doing more harm than we thought? In other words, the health risks against air pollution have risen in the past few decades; all from what you may ask? Well, it could be for various factors and evaluations; either environmental or materialistic. Pollution is a major public health crisis in the world. (Friis, 2012). This is one of the conflicts that contribute to various aspects of an individual’s life, whether they may realize it or not. In this paper will include the sources that cause pollution with the effects it cause as well as policies on the regulation of air pollution.
The key point of this article is to show what are the problems and causes to our environment that is facing and what people can do in order to improve it. People are really struggling with the Air pollution, which is any substance that people lead into the atmosphere cause damaging and effects on living things and the environment. It is divided into two parts. It can be visible, and invisible they’re both resulting Global warming. There two main pollutants causing warming earth are carbon dioxide, a green gas. As people release carbon dioxide when they breathe, it can also be produced by cars, factories, planes, other human activities, and burning fossil fuels such as gasoline and natural gas. In that case, carbon dioxide can be described as air pollution. “In the past 150 years, such activities have pumped enough carbon dioxide into the atmosphere to raise its levels higher than they have been for hundreds of thousands of years.” Which shows how much damage the atmosphere is getting throughout the past 150 years, and people are using green gases more than usual. Which should be controlled as soon as possible. Carbon dioxide is removed from the atmosphere when it is absorbed by plants. Another type of green gas is “methane,” which comes from swamps and they’re made by livestock and CFCs, they are gases used for refrigerating. They banned them because they are making a massive effect on Earth’s ozone layer. A third pollutant, it is related to climate changes is called sulfur
Air pollution occurs when unusual toxic chemicals and other substances are present in the air. The toxins cause the quality of air to become lower than that of its natural state, which leads to a lower quality of life for those who inhabit that area. There are two major types of air pollution: ozone pollution and particle pollution. Ozone, or ground pollution, occurs through a chemical reaction between sunlight and gases, such as carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide, which are emitted into the air by the burning of fossil fuels. Particle pollution occurs when gases turn into either solid or liquid particles made up of ash, diesel, chemicals, etc.
