I completely understand your hesitancy to make a decision too quickly. If I have learned one thing from my caving experience, it’s that it generally takes us cavers a while to get around to things, I'm very exciting that you are considering me for the position though. If college has taught me one thing, it is how to be organized and stay on top of my commitments. While I do have a lot to juggle with school and such, I am very passionate about caving, and participation within the caving community is very important to me. Just because the position would be a volunteer spot does not mean I would let it take a back seat to my other activities. In addition I feel as if my two years so far here at Creighton University have endowed me with a good

Yosemite National Park is a beautiful park that is just hours away from San Francisco and has some of the best hiking and scenic areas found in our National Parks. Camping at Yosemite can be a challenge though. All of the campsites within Yosemite are on a reservation system that fills up in seconds after the dates are opened. Seriously! If you know you want to camp within the park, please plan way ahead of time to secure a spot. When making a reservation make sure you are signing up for an RV or a tent space. If you are tent camping, know that you will have to park a little bit away and carry your gear in as there is no space for you to park next to your tenting spot. Yosemite camping can get
For many young people the summer season includes plans to travel the world, take leaps in life, explore new things, and make lasting friendships. For some people summer means traveling across the country from Maine to California. Residing in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, Yosemite National Park. Allana Hall describes Yosemite as “a tight knit community nestled in tree covered wilderness that leaves you speechless and wanting more”. Yosemite is a unique city-like national park that lies far from most other civilization but is bustling with guests and locals within the walls of the valley. Allana states “everyone stays in canvas tents, were charged $7 a week for rent. Living here is simple, and everyone is like family. There is a
Sixty days of carrying 80-pound backpacks, sleeping under a tarp for shelter in the Utah winter – welcome to “wilderness therapy.”
I wanted to formally express my interest in the new Recruiting position. With our continuing expansion, it would be an honor to be in a team with such an integral part of our company’s success.
I am going for the position of either commissioner of community service, sports, or clubs. I have been in ASB for a year and it has been a memorable and great experience in which I have learned so much and continue to do so. During that time, I was and still am commissioner of community service and it still continues to be my main selection. I am qualified because I am committed and have worked very hard to make sure I continue doing my job properly meanwhile still doing my job as an ASB member in anything that we may be working on at the moment. I always update my Community Service bulletin board in the Higher Ed. Center as often as I can and when the dates pass. There is always community service opportunities that I have looked for myself
Spending time in nature is very important in order to know how and why we should protect it. The best way to enjoy nature is to have no interferences from the modern world, the government has places like these called wilderness areas, where there is no human interference allowed except for hikers, planes aren't even allowed to fly over. Wilderness areas are also great for providing healthy ecosystems for the animals that live there. This resolution would expand the wilderness areas inside existing national parks and create wilderness areas inside national parks that don't already have wilderness areas.
My previous experiences with the Conservation Corps taught me so much. Not only did it help me learn the importance of hard work, communication, and teamwork, but it opened my eyes to many other vital skills. The Conservation Corps gave me perspective. I learned to look at people not as their stereotypes, but for the individuals they were. When I was in immersed in nature, I never felt so connected to who I am. I built life long friendships, learned to trust others even when it was difficult, and found parts of myself that I’d never seen before. I want to return to the corps because other, easier, jobs wouldn’t offer me the same opportunities to grow the skills I originally learned. I would be honored to become a Conservation Corps of MN and IA Wilderness Crew Member.
Yosemite National Park, is a beautiful piece of nature it is a 195 mile nature getaway from the urban life that is lived San Francisco, CA and 315 miles away from the fast pace and overwhelming life that is lived in Los Angeles CA. We live in an age that has spoiled us rotten. Everything we need has become a given and we are no longer out scavenging for our necessities. We have mastered the art of consumerism. Our society is built and programmed to consume, stores have spread faster then a contagious disease. Over time we have come to relinquish very important knowledge that has been passed down since the beginning of time and that is surviving in the wild. There are three basic things we all need to learn how to do in order to survive the wild and that is building shelter, filtering water and finding food.
It is amazing how some experiences stay so crisp in my memory, that if I were to close my eyes, I could almost swear that I was there right at that moment. It's as if my body can almost taste the sweet air, feel the cold, wet breeze on my skin, and recall the scent of the pine trees towering above our heads. Hiking in Payson, Arizona, after a snow storm is one of the best places I have ever visited in order to collect one of these memories. Payson is a great place to take the family dog hiking, but also you will be able to appreciate the beautiful landscape Payson has to offer, with it being conveniently located just a brief drive from the sweltering heat of the Desert Valley.
Long distance hiking not only helps you physically, but an also help you grow mentally. Many suggest hiking as a therapeutic experience. On long distance hikes, the hiker distances themselves from the trivialities of modern day society and funnels all their attention on only themselves and the trail. This dissociation from life allows the hiker to forget any anxieties they had before the start of their journey. Hiking connects you with nature, appreciating it in its entirety. Hikers takes themselves out of their daily lives and join many others with a similar goal, entering into an accepting community of fellow hikers. Hiking can also boost creativity, as it disconnects one from technology and modern conveniences. They instead must rely on the items in their pack and what they can find in nature. Long distance hiking is considered a form of therapy evoking feelings of creativity, disconnection from civilization, and community.
It would be quite ridiculous if I was not to write down my experiences as I go through this trip. You do not see the tallest trees in the world everyday. Although, if I want to get even remotely close to seeing them every day, the least I can do is keep track of my adventures inside of a journal so I can read them later on in my life and remember the time I had on this trip. I went to Redwood National Park and I experienced a true, American national treasure
We humans are social animals. We normally prefer others around us and enjoy sharing experiences with others. In some situations, some of us like to experience the world alone. If the empty, open trail beckons you, then solo hiking might be what you’re looking for. There may be potential consequences when solo hiking which you need to be prepared to deal such as being prepared for solo hiking, and the dangers of solo hiking.
