College Success was an eyeopener enrolling in that class taught me thigs that I never knew before. The professors at CCRI has pushed me to be the best I can be. Although I had bumps on the road I still keep moving forward because you guys made it possible. After years of searching I finally found my major without moving out of state with the help of my advisors and my wonderful teachers I will make it and graduate from The Community College. No words can describe how much I appreciate everything you guys did for me and other students that are currently attending. Never in my life I would
I am aware that college will be challenging, but I will try my very best and I will not give up when times are tough. I know that I can't give into the pressure that may surround me. Knowing that I will have to take another eight years of schooling, I have high expectations that the college I attend to, will prepare me for my greatly acknowledged career and
Fear and anxiety plagued my mind during this transition, however my wife and daughter kept my mind at ease. The information and instruction that was provided from the Professors at Durham Tech galvanized something deep within me. I began to strive for goals that I thought were unattainable as a naïve adolescent. Instructors encouraged me to work hard and to be persistent when it came to the immense obstacles of my course work such as giving a presentation at an honors symposium as an honors student. After countless years of self doubt and negative feelings towards education as a whole, for the first time in my life, I felt like college was an option for
While they do have a tremendous focus on workforce development and training, the opportunity to take a more active role in higher education exists. By adjusting their focus to act as a bridge for students, the community college has the ability to soften the transition financially and educationally. Community colleges must move beyond their reliance on open acceptance policies and actively pursue students who would otherwise attend universities. By offering comparable course tracks that will challenge and educate they can move even further past the image of being a second class institution. More focus must be placed on both building articulation agreements with the universities and educating potential students about the benefits of making the community the next stop on their education
Students nowadays face many challenges when it comes to obtaining a college education. We evaluate an institution’s quality based on what we need the most. The qualities sought out may vary by each person’s personal point of view. However, as a student, I’ve found that most students seek for an institute that benefits them the most. Attending a community college has been an enormous advantage towards my education. I have been attending San Bernardino Valley College for the last two semesters. I have come to respect their philosophies and values. The institution has now been in business for 87 years. They venture to encourage both students and faculty towards high standards of achievement and progress into exceptional members of the society. They now offer a variety of degrees, transfer programs and certificates for a wide range of students. San Bernardino Valley College has an accomplished staff, student support services and technological tools that pave the road towards the conquest of a quality education.
I remember last year after receiving the letter from NHS that I had not been accepted into National Honors Society, as dreadful as it was to receive that bad news I learned many things that emphasize and describe my character. I noticed how throughout Freshman and part of Sophomore year of High School I was just a student who focused heavily on school work rather that combining school work with a social and meaningful life. After realizing my past I had to act on that and change the way I once was, I recognized how much I lacked in leadership and service within the community. After completing my twelve year studies at my local Sunday School I decided to help the school out by assisting the office and teachers by completing the tremendous amount
In my conclusion I’ve come to realize that going to college is one of the best decisions you can make in your life and finishing college is an even grateful feeling, in my spare time I talk and advice my friends to go school and get a better education because it can help you in the long run, so I won’t be a dummy ill stay in school and now I’m following my own advice. So I’m proud of myself for getting another chance at it with Ashworth College and I’m willing to work hard to get what I
Community college is a great institution for students to start their educational journey. Especially when they do not have the funds or lack some of the prerequisite that a university would require. Community college was created to serve the community, traditional and non-traditional students with the best higher education and lifetime learning opportunities. The faculty and staff members at a community college is there to provide leadership in education while going above and beyond to recognize the needs of the students and the community by providing excellent educational programs and support services that are available to all who have the opportunity to take advantage of them. “Student services now include recruitment and retention, counseling, student activities, student health, financial aid, academic support, career centers, transfer centers, and supplemental services such as transportation, child care, and services tailored for specific populations of students” (Cohen, Brawer, & Krisker, 2014, pg. 209). My philosophy in fulfilling the role and mission of the community college, is to establish the mission, vision, goals and values to guide all students on their journey to strive to become successful both in school and in today’s economy.
For the last few years, I have searched for the right curriculum that motivates me to better myself and my surroundings. Your school and staff has been helpful in guiding me through the process to join your program. My motivation to pursue a higher education has been paramount and your curriculum advisor makes me feel part of the family. Throughout my professional and
College is an extremely terrifying experience, especially when someone doesn’t know how to maneuver around or choosing the right course or class. Furthermore, it was a great privilege to receive that first letter from The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS)., Knowing that I’ve been accepted into an honor society that chose someone like myself out of several other qualified students on my campus. That letter gave hope and inspiration for someone like myself the strength to overcome any obstacles, in addition, to being welcomed into this tremendous family that reaches far and wide to help students like myself to accomplish our goals and dream, especially being in the first generation to attend college especially an older adult continuing my
I came into Norwalk Community College looking for a fresh start. I previously attended a 4 year university that became too much for me; attending school full-time, working 30 hours per week while trying to enjoy the college experience. At the cost of an “experience” I ended up failing most of my classes, putting my health at risk drowned by the tremendous amount of stress and just wanted to completely give up. Looking for a fresh start I decided to leave my University, and attend Norwalk Community College. Though this decision created self-doubt in the beginning, it soon came to my realization that it was the best decision I ever made. Immersed in an environment full of positive people, I was able to put my pieces back together.
When people hear the word “college”, many panic inside at the thought. But, when I hear the word “college” I think about Illinois State University. In early July, I attended an Open House at ISU for my very first official college visit. As I stepped onto campus, I couldn’t but help to feel like it was my future home. Many aspects of the tour made me draw nearer to choosing this college after finishing my High School career. Illinois State University seems to fit my personality very well, has an amazing program for what I want to study, and is an outstanding campus for my academic strengths and weaknesses.
In conclusion, my path after high school has already been decided. I hope the path I have chosen, will bring a new light to Radford University. My road to college won’t be easy, but with guidance and understanding I know I will be just fine. Being able to balance my new life with my old one will be difficult, but with patience everything will be okay. My transition from high school to college will be a blast and I hope your guys we want to be about of this encouraging
I love how you stated that you did a lot of praying before you made your decision on where you would attend school! I feel that with God all things are possible and that he will be with us every step of this long trying journey. I feel that we will all succeed and obtain our college degree, the main thing is to remain focused. I wish all of my fellow colleagues nothing but the best, when there's a will there's a
My transfer process from the dreary and jaded feeling halls of my High-School to Isothermal Community College was drastic. Rutherford - Spindale Central High made me feel trapped and like none of my choices mattered in the slightest bit. When I finally graduated I knew my life would change and it has quite a bit. I make my own decisions and I am responsible for important things, such as my education and grades. I am thankful for the freedom that my college life gives me as well as the responsibility.
My appreciation is driven by a disdain founded in my knowledge that I should have already been attending a four-year university, if it hadn’t been for the hindrance of my negligent attitude toward my schooling during my senior year of high school. But with all my different interests, it gave the opportunity to explore different options, even some I had never thought about before. A perfect example of this is the reason I am writing this essay, my application to the university of Texas A&M. And my teachers gave me first-hand experiences that I have been able to take to heart and learn from, these were lessons I could have never imagined getting for a school. All of this was provided for me without draining me financially, while also allowing me to work and gain real life experience for myself. The community college system has sufficiently prepared me for the next chapter in my life, whatever that chapter may
