A poem written by South Carolina pastor, Jeremy Rutledge has given readers a lot to think about. The poem was composed after the great Hurricane Harvey tragedy in Houston. In his poem Rutledge mentions the word pray many times but the meaning of it goes way beyond that. When praying for something it is important to know the aspects and struggles of it, and that is exactly what Rutledge is doing in this poem, stating all the things that make Houston unique, diverse, and capable to rise from it all.
Christ EPC, is a 25 year evangelical church in Houston, Texas that has worked with SWOH. With a new pastor and vibrant
I attended Celebrate Recovery at Fellowship Bible Church in Rogers, Arkansas on October 7th. This meeting is not for any specific addiction or problem, but spans many issues and therefore was very different than any other support group I have attended. The fact that it is a faith-based meeting was another interesting difference from the Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meeting I visited last semester.
When I arrived, I was a little surprised at the demographics of the two hundred people that were in attendance. I had previously attended a Celebrate Recovery meeting a few years prior and the only demography I encountered were those who seemed like they “needed to be there.” However, I was pleasantly surprised to meet the individuals at this meeting as the people seemed like average everyday people. I felt like I belonged, and as though my struggles matter because all those in attendance were seeking after that new life, set free in Christ. There were people from all over, all different struggles and situations that it made the
Hey ya'll! With the first ever Austin All City Club right around the corner we thought it could be a cool opportunity for us to come together as leaders to pray for club and pray for our city and our kids for this year. In a couple days, all kinds of kids from all over the city will be coming together to have fun and hear about Jesus (maybe 2000 kids, that's nuts). We don't all get together often but this is an awesome time to be reminded of the scope of this ministry in this city and how unique this opportunity is to get to do Young Life with several hundred of our closest friends. (Also, who knows where Zilker Hillside Theater is so this is a great chance to practice getting there without embarassing yourself in front of your kids).
"The three-step key to happiness when everything is down is - Redemption, Reconstruction, and Recover." Redemption, Reconstruction, and Recover demonstrate how the Reconstruction era prevailed. The Reconstruction era did redeem and reconstruct the United States but did not recover it. However, the United States still hasn't fully recovered because we still struggle with discrimination. For example, during the era, slaves were freed from slavery and received suffrage (the addition of 3 new amendments to the Constitution). But, the whites were not able to come to terms with the new Constitution. As a result, they continued to discriminate against the former slaves because of their new rights. Instead, we have to define the most important factor
In 1993 Pastor John Kilpatrick initiated prayer for revival for the Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola, Florida. Since its establishment in 1939, the church has had a reputation for integrity, a church where holiness has been preached, prayer has been central, and it has a heart for the nations. The prayer initiative with Pastor Kilpatrick leading resulted in the beginning of the Pensacola Outpouring or the Brownsville Revival on Father’s Day 1995. Steve Hill, a missionary-evangelist, preached about revival and gave an invitation for prayer. To everyone’s amazement the Holy Spirit gave a powerful deposit of God’s presence. As the news about the revival spread, people flocked from around the world. The church leadership was surprised but
I believe that the Rio Grande Valley is the gateway for revival for the South Texas District of the United Pentecostal Church International. The past two years have been a time of excitement, challenge and victories for our churches, pastors, ministers and I believe the best is yet to come.

Bill Mehlinger shares how he learned to accept the refugees. His grocery store business was doing poorly. With help from one of his employees, Hong Diep Vo, Mehlinger got the idea of making his grocery store fit the needs of the refugees. He got all kinds of ethnic food and started selling them in his store. It was convenient for the refugees because they do not need to go very far to get their food. Then his business was doing better than before. This shows how something new can change your life forever. It proves how diversity serves the goals and interests of everyone. ‘ “If it wasn’t for the refugees knowing us and knowing we go out of our way for them, we’d be gone,’ Mehlinger said” ‘ (175). Furthermore, the old Clarkston Baptist church undergoed the same experience. ‘ “ We realized that what the Lord had in store for that old Clarkston Baptist Church was to transition into a truly international church and to help minister to all these ethnic groups moving into the country,’ he said” ‘(176). As the cliche, “what comes around goes around” greatly applies to this experience. The church was on the verge to becoming broke and there was less people going to church. Then the noticed that they needed to cater to all the refugees in Clarkston. And in turn, the church was filled with people. They believed that the church was a place for everybody and they embraced the new
Reverend Reynolds spoke to the school a few years ago. I remember hugging him and thanking him the first time and doing the same this time around. I wanted to say more to him, but I couldn't articulate the words. I think his story is amazing, but unfortunately
So this is the most immediate and number one prayer for YEF Atlanta. Through only 3 leaders, YEF can begin evangelizing and developing clubs on other campuses in Atlanta. Through that growth, YEF ATL can begin leading the way for YEF in the other states in the Southeastern region. YEF Atlanta can only do so much, but it is through prayer that God truly works. YEF ATL sincerely and humbly ask everyone to keep them in your prayers and specifically pray for three great leaders by Easter 2017. God sees the dim and faltering lights in people’s hearts all over the Southeast. They are seeking something more; they are seeking the truth. As the center of the Bible Belt, both the Atlanta church and YEF desire to revive the people’s relationship with God and become like a beacon of hope, love, and true peace within the community surrounding the church and to plant many lighthouses throughout the Southern United
Rev. Franklin Graham has urged believers all over the world to pray for Jakarta’s Christian governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, who currently faces the possibility of a five-year prison term over false blasphemy allegations.
Be blessed in the name of Jesus the Christ, the Son of the living God. The prophetic plea that the LORD God Almighty shall come to you before He comes for you; inspiring the covenant people of the Ngwa Land to turn back to the Sovereign LORD GOD in righteousness and humility is advancing strongly upon us. It is certainly expected that we shall respond to the Almighty God, His way, according to the desires of His heart. We must heed the admonition of Isaiah the prophet to be silent, before the Sovereign LORD GOD Almighty, Whose we are, and Who we serve. Henceforth, the people of Ngwa Land must return to the LORD GOD, our Father and Maker. I want you to engage this prophetic
I began by saying Healing and Deliverance, often avoided, but necessary. Introspection is the first step towards healing and deliverance. M y personal views and description of healing and deliverance stem from my own experiences and the experiences I have witnessed. Healing is a process that does not happen overnight. It is when something has left a painful memory or visible sore that requires attention. Time tends to heal pain, but pain can take years for a cure. Healing requires constant attention to the areas where the brokenness, pain and hurting remains. I remember falling off of a set of stairs and twisting my ankle. My ankle became extremely swollen to the point where I could not walk. I had to literally crawl to the restroom and back into my room. I thought it was a minor sprain, but it turned out to be a major fracture. The pain at times was extreme and required close attention. In order to begin the healing process, I had to face the pain and provide constant care in order for healing to begin to settle in. I had to use different techniques that include soaking, medicating and wrapping my ankle to reduce the swelling. I had to be extremely careful not to apply too much pressure to my ankle which required me to keep my ankle elevated and apply ice. After a period of time my ankle was healed and I was able to walk again without bearing any pain.
