The reality TV show, Gene Simmons Family Jewels does not depict a typical US family. The reason I say that is because, Simmons rock way of life including extreme wealth is absolutely not ordinary for most Americans. Since they aren’t really reality as they claim, shows like that are fictional show that’s designed to pull in ratings. A usual US family lives mundane lifestyle when compared to Simmons and his family.
Cultural norms often constrict an individual in society. Humans are individual but social by nature. An imbalance individuals and society can lead one to feel out of place or socially awkward. In “Our Celebrities, Ourselves” by Neal Gabler and “Never Trust a Snake’: WWF Wrestling as Masculine Melodrama” by Henry Jenkins, both authors’ essays reflect on American Culture, however, they differ one reflecting the American individual and the other American society. In both essays values such as individualism, societal status and self-invention are discussed. However, Gabler reflects on celebrities self discovery in society while Jenkins focuses on how you can find your place in society as WWF wrestling resembles the American societal structure.
The Flip Side of Internet Fame by Jessica Bennett. I believe her argument is how things posted on the internet is big, like once someone post something on their it’s going to be on the internet forever. I agree with her because once you posted something on the internet it’s forever going up there even if you deleted the post or the picture. I am going to write about the first person that Jessica Bennett talks to about the “Star Wars Kid”, bullying, and the cyber world.
In my opinion, the most important skills necessary to be a member of Urbandale Singers fall into three main categories: dedication, humility, and ambition. When it comes to dedication, knowing my own downfalls is key. By acknowledging my personal weaknesses, whether musically or morally, I can commit myself to correcting them. It also shows that in doing so, I have the desire to become better, improving myself and inspiring those around me. Having humility in an important group such as Urbandale Singers, I know that I am not doing it for myself but more for the group as a whole. By being able to work with others in the group rather than trying to be “better” than them, I show how I can humbly collaborate in a team environment. Ambition to

Choosing a topic for this paper brought great difficulty. However, with a brief comparison of the options it soon became clear what the topic was going to be: Parks and Rec. Introducing the essay, ”Celebrity Endorsement Advertisements” sponsored by Curen Nordeen, who says he loves when celebrities sponsor a product. Sue Jozui in the passage, “Advertising”, she argues that endorsement ads should be boycotted and banned. The author supports her argument by first stating examples of some celebrities endorsing ads. She continues by asking her audience to support her by boycotting the celebrity sponsored products. The author’s purpose is to convince people that endorsed ads are not beneficial so that people stop buying them.
In the article “The Impact Celebrities Have on Our LIves”, Deborah King suggests that, because of the Internet and media today, celebrities do not have private lives anymore (para 10-11), and I agree with her. What surprises me about this is that I have never thought about it in this way. I will see what celebrities are doing in magazines and on television and never give it a second thought because it is so common. Often times I see photos of celebrities in magazines, but they are not only of when the celebrities are at social events. I have seen dozens of celebrities photographed while shopping with their families at the grocery store, walking in a park, and even of when they are taking out the trash. This illustrates that even something as
In “Rules of the Game”, Waverly’s new-found fame in the chess world starts to cause tears in her relationship with her family. Waverly, throughout the story, was given many new opportunities and privileges to get her to the place she landed. She was given a room by herself, so she could think better. She was given the option to not do chores, so that her energy was saved. She was even given the option to leave the dinner table early, so she wouldn’t fog up her brain when she got full. Waverly became one of the best chess players in the world, almost undefeated, with the help of these new privileges. On the other side, her siblings were pushed into the living room to sleep, so she had her own room, and she didn’t get to spend as much time with

Both of these ladies have faced hardships while coming up in their life while trying to find an career. Oprah was born to an teenage mother in mississippi. Lead character, Bianca, is the main character and the lead protagonist of the movie, “The Duff.” Bianca is short, about 5’4’’, and is a little bit on the heavier side. She dresses for comfort and cares less about her looks and more about her friends and school work. The most worn shirt in her closet is her “party shirt”, a black cotton tee-shirt that has the word “party” printed on the front. If only one article of clothing was used to summarize her whole wardrobe, it would be this shirt. Bianca is often shown as very kind to the people that she cares about, going the full mile for anyone who needs it. In the beginning of the movies she was always at her friends sides making sure they were havening fun and feeling confident. She is an odd mix of secure and shy. Although she comes across and a secure girl, who does not worry about the opinions of others, she become very shy when she is around a boy that she has a crush on. When Bianca tries to talk to her crush, at the start of the movie, the most she could muster was a “Hey.” She is rather unpopular at school and is only know through her two friends that are considered very good looking. She only has two close friends, Jess and Casey, but is valued deeply by them, despite not seeing this at first.
Throughout the years, people have been getting really famous. However, most of them have a drastic effect on their life. There are some that just can’t get over the fame eventually becoming an arrogant and selfish person.
