ARRGUMENTATIVE RESEARCH PAPER SUBMITED TO: MRS PITA RHAM SUBMITED BY: DERVIN GARCIA ABSTRACT Cell phones are wireless phones that most people use now. First they used the home phone which is still used in different countries in the world. In 1834 a man named Michael Faraday, was studying if space could conduct electricity and he came with the idea to develop the cell phone. Cell phones are now used everywhere by anyone, even kids. This brings a problem, CELL PHONES in school. Cell phones should not be allowed in school. Cell phone has a harmful effect on teenagers. Student at high school should not be allowed with cell phones due to certain circumstances. There are many disadvantages derived from the uses of cell phones …show more content…
If the student has an emergency, don’t you think that they should discuss the problem with the school counselor? Plus if they need to call this can easily be achieved by phoning their parents directly from school. Cell phones are distraction in class when learning is taken place. Many schools in higher crime areas began banning cell phones long time, due to the business of illegal drugs and other gang-related activities. Students can be able to order and use illegal drugs during school hours and could have them delivered right to the school before the end of the day. This made it more convenient for the children because they are at school and away from the prying eyes of their parent. In the case of bomb threats at school, the threat itself was probably called into the school on a cell phone because of these devices; they cannot be traced by law enforcement officials. In other words to trace a bomb in a cell phone is difficult and to evacuate an entire school it’s kind of hard. While most of these threats turn out to be hoaxes, a real bomb could possibly be detonated by cell phone usage. Also if the teenagers take phones to school, not every student will remember to put his/her phone on vibration, this can leads to classes interruption by the occasionally ring
If there just happens to be an emergency at school for instance like a school threat or school shooting , cell phones could help students connect to their worried parents. Some parents can become extremely worried if they do not know what is going on with their child ,they tend to panic or even start to believe that something bad has happened to their
When in emergencies kids usually turn to their electronics to contact others for help. Students want to have reassurance and know that if any inconvenience occur they can reach their parents or others as soon as possible. Most parents and children like to stay in touch with one another at all times. Especially if there's a change of plans after school or if there's any accidents that appeared and need to be evacuated immediately. Aside from, rivals say that students are most likely to lose their cell phones. In the meantime, students would be responsible and put it in a safe place at the appropriate time. For these reasons, cell phones should be tolerated on school property in cases of
The school principal should change the rule of no cell phone in schools. One reason that he should change the rule is because the way that they input it doesn’t make sense. The main reason that they should change it is because they wouldn’t know if a student had an emergency at school or at home. Also, the student’s could use their phone to ask their parent if they could bring them food.
Students should be allowed in school for these reasons. To help for a future job, incase of an emergency, and to communicate with coaches and teachers. So I’ve talked about all the reasons why kids should be allowed to have phones in school. Here are the three reasons that I explained. One reason is that having a phone in school could help prepare them for a future job. Two incase of an emergency they can text their parents to let them know that they’re ok, and if it’s about an essay they could also text their parents to bring it to them. Three having a phone would help them communicate with their teachers and coaches to let them know if they can’t make it to practice or a game and to ask their teachers for more time on an
Central Idea: The use of cell phones in school is great for educational purposes, social life, and as a safety tool
This is why I would like Cell phones to stay in use when we are at school. Sometimes, an emergency can happen. They need the phones to call their parents, the police, or 911. Plus, they won’t be able to use the school phones in certain situations, such as a school shooting. It would be very beneficial.
Another problem is cell phone use during emergencies. Many people want students to have cell phones in emergencies. But this will not be safe. People in charge should only half cell phones. If hundreds of students half calls at the same time the teacher will not be able to teach their classes.
Cell phones let you immediately be in contact with one another, and if an incident had to occur it would be very convenient since you could communicate so easily. The students can easily put their mobiles on silent or they could switch it off thus it wont disturb the class. If the cell phone doesn’t make any noise and the student is not using it during class then there is no problem. While it is true that they can keep it on silent or switch it off but they could easily forget to do so and then it would interrupt the learning progress and cause them to become restless. For the ring tone could be unusual and funny to most people causing chaos.
It cell phones can be a huge threat to school and everyone in it by being used as a bomb or a
Thesis: Cell phones should be used in high schools to replace educational tools, to keep in contact with parents, and to get students career and college ready.
Many schools across the United States, believe that cell phones have no place in school because they are distracting and students won’t be able to focus on schoolwork. Many school officials are only looking at the drawbacks of phones in schools, and not the good things. Cell phones can be an aid in the classroom. They can be used to look up information, be used as calculators, and writing notes to save paper. "The reason we went to that policy was hopefully to prepare young adults to turn their phones off when they 're supposed to be off and to use them in the right way,” said James Hawrysko the Dean of Students at Barrington
Technology is advancing in the twenty first century, one of these being a powerful handheld devices is called a cell phone. Even though cell phones have been addressed by school policy, Cell phones have become almost required in everyday adult life and important for communication and other obtainable things from a cellular device. Students should be able to use these powerful devices for learning and necessary communication and should not be completely held down by the school scholastic policies. .
The primary reason of my stance is that there is no substantial premise to support the logic of bringing phones to schools. A school is a well-guarded and protected property where a child is under supervision of seniors, teachers and staff at all possible times, hence there arises no issue of security or any kind of vulnerability to any harm. Therefore, it is absolutely needless for a parent to be in constant touch with the child during school hours. At times of urgent need or emergency where is absolutely imperative that the parent or the child gets in instant contact with the other, the party in question can always contact the school authorities and hence reach the other. If on the other hand, the schools do allow bringing of mobile phones on the premise of keeping in touch with the parents, it would cause more harm than good as it will cause disruption in studies. More than the sole reason of brining in to school, which is remaining in contact with the
In today’s world there is a lot of students that bully others or get in many fights, when that happens a lot of students do not have cell phone to be able to call for help or able to contact their parents, or another teacher for help or call the police for help. Another major reason that students should be able to their cell phone in a class room was in of 1929, the St. Valentine massacre happened in Chicago IL. The massacre was the worse gang related killing that’s ever recorded, the victims that were a part of the massacre was young children. Majority of secondary schools has a lot of gang violence going on. So it cause schools to go on lock downs due to things that have happened around the school. So, for the student’s safety, just in case the school goes on lock frag down. Their parents would need to know. So the students could just call or text their parents and tell them what’s going on. Imagine if one of the students from our district was around there and he are she don’t have a cell to contact somebody are if that massacre takes a place on a
Throughout the years cell phones have changed a lot with advanced technology. Improve technology has made a great change in history of phones, transforming the huge brick-like mobile phone of 1995 to sleek and stylish smartphones we carry with us now. Back then people didn't have the features phones as for now. For example, pictures, facetime and touch screen. At this moment, advanced technology in cell phones has gained much attention to all people ages. The only difference is that a few years back, it wasn't unusual for under 15 children to have cell phones. As for now, Children under 15 years are affected in socially, education and development by the use of cell phones as they will feel the need to use it in every situation. Today,
