The objective of the cell phone comparison task is to calculate which cell phone plan would be the best deal according to each scenario. The base price, minutes, data and text define which plan is the best deal. I used different steps to get to my answer including the different prices based on its plan and the extra fees . I was able to solve the problems by creating expressions and equations. Also I solved the task questions by combining context clues to find an understatement in the question being asked. A variable is a symbol for a number we don't know yet. It is usually a letter like x or y. A coefficient is the number in front a variable or term. Combining like terms is a process used to simplify an expression or an equation using addition and subtraction of the coefficients of terms. Factoring an expression means breaking the expression down into bits we can multiply together to find the original expression. The distributive property lets you multiply a sum by multiplying each addend separately and then add the products.

Writing an equation helps you solve a problem because it makes the problem easier to solve. Addition is the opposite of subtraction; division is the opposite of multiplication, and so on. Inverse operations are used to solve simple algebraic equations to more difficult equations that involve exponents and trigonometry. Translating real world problems to algebraic expressions include using all information given to find a variable, constant, and total to create an expression. For example when at the grocery store if you were given a coupon of $5 off from a product that originally cost

In the unit, called cookies, I have come across many mathematical concepts when doing the math problems. Inequalities were one of the concepts. Inequalities are the relation between two equations that are not equal. One of the first things that were done was to guess and check using random numbers to find the highest number of combinations that would still make the inequalities true. Also, in this unit it reviewed how to place inequalities on number lines; the open circle in inequalities represents greater than or less than and the closed circle in inequalities shows that it is either greater than or equal to or less than or equal to.Another mathematical concept is Systems of Equations. Systems of Equations are equations you deal with altogether

Completing algebra problems can be difficult if you don’t understand the properties of real numbers. There are several properties in algebra dealing with both integers and real numbers; one that will be the focus of this report will be the distributive property. We use this property when we are combining addition and multiplication in an algebraic expression. Let’s say that you are presented with the expression 6x(2 + y) = 9x + 5xy, now with this problem the order of operation would have you to add the terms in parenthesis first, by using the distributive property it allows to simplify the problem by multiplying all
