The Log Cabin Republicans is an organization that helps build a more stronger union of equality, free market, individual liberty and many more . They have chosen to start this party for the sole purpose of helping to stop the intolerance towards gays and lesbians. The name Log Cabin came from President Abraham Lincoln who was born in a log cabin, so they chose to name it after him. Not only was he the inspiration for the name he was also an inspiration for the faction. The original name of the faction was “Lincoln Club” but the name was already taken by another Republican (GOP) group so they had to change it to something else. The faction was built on Abraham Lincoln's principles of Liberty and Equality.
If I had a ticket in my hand i would fly to Cork, Ireland. Why? Castlehyde is widely renowned as one of the finest structural restorations of a historic Irish home.It is also where one of my great great uncles in the late 16th century was given twelve thousand acres and 10 castles. He was given them by Queen Victoria II for raising an army against the Spanish Armada. Castle Hyde was the largest of all the castle and all ten are located on the twelve thousand acres. Castle Hyde was also the ancestral home of Ireland’s first president, Douglas Hyde. The current owner of the castle is Michael Flatley, an accomplished boxer, step dancer, choreographer, musician and, more recently, acclaimed artist. Upon ruins when first purchased, Flatley decided
The novel, The Cellar, by Natasha Preston, is a mysterious, suspenseful and eerie book that keeps readers guessing throughout the entire read. The story takes place in a small town in England where hardly any crime happens. Due to the overall safe feeling of the small town, Summer, the main character, does not feel unsafe when walking alone at night. She states, “Our town was probably-actually definitely-the most boring place on earth; nothing even remotely interesting ever happened” (4). However, this is how the trouble began. The basic plot begins when Summer leaves for a gig she had gotten and gets abducted by a man named Clover. He takes her back to his house and locks her in a finished Cellar with three other girl and assigns them names
The town turns quickly turns to a frenzy, when all of the younger kids start roaming the streets looking for their parents. The really young kids, between the ages of 1-9 years-old have absolutely no clue whats going on or where their parents are. Some are crying, and they are absolutely terrified.
Theodore Roethke’s poem “Root Cellar” has one stanza, and eleven lines total. Upon first reading the title, I admit that it doesn’t strike me as very original. This poem can very well be a description of the author’s cellar; a snapshot of an event being held in said cellar.
Within this novel, she introduces a group of young children who join the battle against evil that detests individuality. It is a story filled with mystery and adventure, with a young girl who wants nothing more than to go on a journey to find her father. Many places around
The boy’s grandmother gets sick and the two are forced to go to a hotel on the coast of England in order to improve her health. While there, he overhears the witches’ wicked plan to turn children into mice by putting Delayed Action Mouse-Maker in chocolate bars in candy shops all around England. The witches demonstrate the Delayed Action Mouse-Maker on a boy named Bruno and he turns into a mouse. M. Night Shyamalan leaves us hanging with yet another thoughtfully planned movie, leaving everyone in theatres jumping out of their seats! Recently I’ve had the opportunity to watch and review “The Village” by M.Night Shyamalan. We all remember our childhood monsters, our parents always convinced us that they were not real, that they were simply a figment of our imagination, but in a small village in the middle of Covington woods it is the exact opposite… Evil lurks in the woods, but more so in The Village. Ivy Walker, daughter of Elder and council member Edward Walker must venture into Covington woods in order to save the love of her life Lucius Hunt from life-threatening conditions.
After living in her world of darkness, Eleanor accepts Dr. Montague’s invitation to research the paranormal perception of Hill House for a summer. Although Eleanor’s feeling is conflicted by the death of her mother, she is extremely contented with the fact that she is freed from her prisoned life. It is time for self-discovery. As she drives up to Hill House, she would joyfully imagine a different her with a different family, in which she would meet many great people and would be enjoying her simple life. Shirley Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House incorporates the idea of family into a haunted house. Hill House targets characters who have great desires and weak points. Eleanor, who fits into the description of whom Hill House would target,
“So kids, every Halloween, it is said that her ghost, roams the empty hallways of this very school, searching for another female student to take her place.” The students were now on the edge of their wooden seats, eyes wide, listening to every word Mr. Morris said. All of a sudden the loud bell breaks the silence, making each one of them jump.
High upon a lonely hill surrounded by a great dark forest, stood an ancient, crumbling manor, known as the Haunted House. The windows were all smashed and it looked like the house was used a long time ago and was never used again. The font gates were as old as the hills. It belonged to a greedy old man, he was as short as a stump, he was really grumpy and fat who everyone said he was a wizard. Even though he owned the immense haunted house he didn’t dare to go inside because he was frightened like a child in dark, so he lived in the small cottage in the grounds of the manor, with just his black cat for company. He was as lonely as the master who has go to war, but hews happy, because he had a true love. His true love was gold, and he had
