At Brewton-Parker College, the campuses community is quite small. I cannot decide if it is a good thing that everyone knows each other. Because the school’s population is not quite as high as a big university, everyone knows everyone’s business. No matter what someone does, good or bad, it gets out, but for me the size in beneficial. The less people there are, the less chance I have of getting distracted. I love how small the classes are, too, because my teachers actually knows who I am. Also, when I need help with what we’re learning or I just have a simple question, I can easily ask my teacher, and he or she can help me better understand what is going on. The teachers here, at Brewton-Parker College, are kind and beyond willing to help me, no matter how long it takes; help is always there when I need it. For instance, the library has become my best friend. I like how I can go and have my own table to get a good amount of work done, and the books are such a useful resource for

English 102 is a college level of reading and writing course based on the theme monster. When I started the class, I thought monsters as scary creature in the books and movies. As I progressed in English 102, I found out monsters is more than what I though t is. Monsters can represent the fear of people and society, a problem in a society, something that is keep coming back and coming back(Such as financial crisis), natural hazard and danger. It also can serve as a warning; so, people avoid the same mistakes.
In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania of 1837, the first higher education institution for African Americans was founded on February 25th given the name Institute for Colored Youth (originally the African Institute). After changing its name again to Cheyney University of Pennsylvania and moving to Delaware County, Pennsylvania, it continues as the oldest predominantly African American school of higher learning. The school taught basic subjects such as math, reading and writing, as well as agriculture and mechanics. Humphreys envisioned the institute to train people of color to become teachers who would further instruct more young men and

I was devastated to hear that only ten students were allowed into ENG 102 for the spring semester, but this is my opportunity to show you that I deserve to be put in ENG 102. I believe I should be one of the ten students to advance into your ENG 102 class because I think I have what it takes. I have ambitions and dreams and if I don’t graduate because of this class they will just burn to ashes in the back of my mind. Hopefully you will be persuaded by the end of this essay, and you will end up putting me in your 102 class.

In the early months of 2002, Juneau-Douglas High School in Juneau Alaska, held a school-sponsored and faculty supervised event, held off of school property, to observe the Olympic Torch pass through their area. When television cameras began to turn in the direction of a group of students, they unfurled a banner with the phrase “BONG HiTS [sic] 4 JESUS”. The school principle, Deborah Morse, told the students to remove the banner and one of them named Joseph Frederick refused, compelling Morse to confiscated the banner claiming it promoted illegal drug use and suspended Frederick [1]. I have tried my utmost best in all my courses; both high school and college courses. I made it my responsibility to take challenging classes that are taught by rigorous and strict teachers that will give me an understanding of the real world and college; there will be no exceptions. However, my academic record does not describe my character as a student adequately. For History 102, I was on track to receive an A for the class after the final, but my older brother sadly died, and I could not complete the course. I am going to retake the
In the words of Anne Bradstreet, “If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.” As writers of the modern era expressed their hardships through poetry, one can only hope that they kept such advice in mind. Through captivating works, poets such as Langston Hughes, Edwin Arlington Robinson, Robert Frost, and E.E. Cummings expressed the struggles of life during the modern era. By examining what these poets have to say about dissatisfaction with life, feelings of inadequacy, and loneliness, it becomes clear that life during the modern era was full of hardships.
