As a taxpayer of Morgan County’s 3rd District and a parent whose children attend CHS and CMS; I would like to put forth my opinion on the generous fund that Mr. Wayne Solomon has left for Central High School. I regret that I will not be able to attend the meeting that has been scheduled to discuss the issue.

In my opinion Mr. Solomon was trying to give back to his Alma Mater and his community. This fund that is being offered would be a great benefit for our children and their education at CHS. We are currently behind in technology and other areas compared to other schools in our state/nation.

Last week’s newspaper stated that without the extra revenue that the wheel tax is expected to generate, Morgan County Schools may have some difficult choices. ”We’re barely able to keep the lights on and the doors open. Even though I agree with tightening our budget and living within our means (even if it means not allowing students to use ink/paper) I cannot fathom why receiving this fund is even in question; especially when last week’s newspaper specified the need for more funds for the Morgan County School System. I cannot fathom why any donation/fund would not be accepted for our students (any students) to better their education.

I believe that it is common sense to see that ANY money that is coming into the school (any school) will benefit the other schools in the county.
This is not a small amount of money that is being offered, this is a large amount that will be there each year…..very needed money for our students and their education. Through the years this fund could benefit several students that walk the halls at CHS.

Even though the fund is specifically for CHS doesn’t mean that the other schools in the county will not
