In life you are bound to face constant challenges, whether you want to be or not. What is important is how you handle yourself in the face of those challenges. Should you shy away and let the challenges beat you or should you face them, thoroughly accomplish them, and become a greater person due to the trial that you endured? These are the experiences in life that mean the most. People in my life challenged me and presented opportunities since they knew I could handle it and that it would help to shape my character. Others may need the same push in recognizing the challenges that will help them and the encouragement to participate in them. Challenging others in the same manner that you have been challenged is incredibly important. If only a few people change, then the world shall remain stagnant. You can question your friends and push them to learn or you can question the status quo, as I have attempted with the research I have conducted during my undergraduate career. I have come to think positively about challenge in two ways: to face challenges head-on and with fortitude and to challenge others, from your peers to the status quo.
To be a U101 Peer Leader you must enroll in a School Leadership course, EDLP 520: The Teacher as Manager. After having made the decision to pursue the professoriate after graduate school, I knew that my first step was to determine if I enjoyed or had an aptitude for teaching. Seeing myself as a teacher, or even truly as a mentor, had never
Why do difficult challenges exist? There seems to be no point in hardships, they just cause pain and sorrow. But after a hardship, everything seems brighter, you are grateful for everything and your eyes are opened to a completely different perspective. Hardships are challenging but after overcoming hardships, you will be satisfied with excellent results.
Throughout the past couple of months my fellow peers and I have been studying the topic ‘challenge’ and how it affects our lives and people around us. In our everyday lives we are confronting challenges, some are as small as walking up a few steps, and some are larger and more challenging that could be life or death circumstances.
In the 21st century, America faces various threats and challenges to its authority as a growing world power. These threats and challenges help define America’s role as a growing world power in the 21st century. As a large nation, America faces a plethora of issues and continues to compete against other world powers. America today is plagued with various economic, social, political, and military problems, with little or no simple or practical solutions available.
I thrive on a good challenge. For example, if an assigned task is too easy, I tend to get bored and undervalue myself as a whole. I wonder why this person assigned this task to me; do they think I am not capable of a more difficult task? I expect my courses at the university to challenge me in ways I have never been challenged before.
“Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant.” What the Roman poet Horace was saying was that when there is an obstacle in our way, our true colors will radiate. I could not agree more. When we as human beings feel passionate about achieving a goal, we may learn something new of ourselves, maybe a new trait that we did not know we possessed, when we reach new heights we did not know we could push ourselves towards. Challenges are similar to tests. Challenges are faced every day, but how we respond to them determines how strong we really are. Prime examples are superheroes and students that move dramatically.
The challenges I go through on a daily basis is bulling from other students, being called names by my brother, myself not thinking positively, me not staying calm in situations, etc. The way I find strength to help me through my challenges is my mostly my parents, and my parents are, my mom Sue, and my dad
Innovation has been a topic that has dominated the main conversation across many organizations. How can governments reshape their role and redesign the existing systems they have and renew the benefits from the creation and development of individual processes. The recession of 2008 has created opportunities and has demanded things be done differently. Gone are the times when problems are solved with endless resources and labor to work their way to a solution. The energy has been refocused to determine the best solution to the different array of issues facing any organization. The national debate has begun to reveal strategies that have reiterations of the most prominent theories and suggestions related to problem solving and a devotion to avoiding crisis. Municipality’s revenues have diminished, leadership and experienced workers have retired, and the push to change and progress is paramount, while assets and resources have been cut or are nonexistent. The key phrase of “doing more with less” has been engrained in every employee in the public sector who was fortunate enough to of avoiding the painful reduction in force policies that have contributed to the demise of the communities. These organizations have been cut deep and are left with employees that faced lost wages, decreasing financial securities and trust that represents the culture and values of these organizations. The changes necessary to reverse the demise of these organization demands collaboration and a change
A lot of people set a challenge to improve. By setting a challenge, individuals work hard, asking for help and advice from experienced advisors. Challenges motivate people and keep them working hard. The most significant challenge I have faced was getting a full scholarship into the private school, American Heritage High School in Plantation. This challenge was crucial for me because I came to United States in the middle of sixth grade. I went to Falcon Cove Middle School, and the school placed me in regular classes within the ESOL program. The ESOL program is a program designed for foreign students who do not speak English well. I got out of the program once I passed the placement test to the Cambridge program. In middle school, I won a variety
I’m most interested in becoming a peer leader mainly because of my integration at Lynn. When I came to Lynn I came in for soccer and I didn't really branch out much, but through the first forty and resident hall activities I really branched out to meet new friends. I want to be able to give incoming freshman this same experience and allow them to enjoy their college experience with supportive friends by their side. I truly believe I'm qualified for this position in many ways. I have a fun, bubbly, and energetic personality. I redshirted for two sports this year and I never let it bring me down, I always brought positive vibes and joy everywhere I could. I’ve also always had a passion for people as well, I
A peer leader should provide support, encouragement, and information to incoming ninth graders because they have their own experiences to use a guided framework. Because of the peer leader’s experience in the school, they could give advice on classwork, homework, how to interact and reach out to teacher, and other social issues. Overall, a peer leader should make a meaningful impact on ninth graders. A peer leader should be readily accessible to their peers whether if it was through facebook, email, or texting. A peer leader should also be honest and be empathetic towards the ninth graders. Also, a peer leader should be an outgoing individual as well. Furthermore, a peer leader should have a genuine desire to want to help the ninth graders, not for selfish motives such as an extracurricular to put on their college application.
America is among the super powers in the world but this does not prevent it from having problems. Just like other Nation's America struggles with some issues. The list of the problems is endless however there are some issues that are of importance as compared to others. Therefore these issues should be recognized and addressed as such. Among these issues are; the upward transfer of wealth. Since 1970's there has been a continuous trend of the rich getting richer as the middle class and poor remain in their states with no change whatsoever. This has been a continuous process; approximately 90% of the gains that are realized from the years of economic recovery go only to the 1% which is the rich in the society. The other 99% do not gain from this and that is why they remain as they are whether the economy has recovered or remains the same (Darkworld, 2013).
It’s the challenge itself that people learn from. There isn’t any point to making things a challenge for no good reason so it’s about taking on the right challenges and calculating risks to a point that justifies them when compared to the challenge that is faced to accomplish them. Truth be told, it was a challenged for me to take that risk and slide down the tube tunnel and I did not regret doing so because I know at that point thats what I wanted. If it hadn't been for that challenge, I wouldn't be able to see what I am capable of doing.
Challenges are the structure of self-development, so people could to develop critical-thinking skills to overcome those challenges. For example, workers are constantly encountering new set of challenges. The challenges help workers to gain more knowledge of their career and will prepare them for future challenges. According to a journal written by Doody discussed on jumping out of comfort zone in a medical field, “issues pertaining to patient safety and operative outcome targets may restrict the amount of autonomy that a trainee may be given to move from his or her comfort zone to the learning zone” (Doody). This prepares workers to encounter challenges, and how they will handle the situation either on their own or help from others. By doing so medical trainees will be able to adjust to their jobs on a medical field. It can help them learn and develop new tactics dealing with the situation because “advanced learners who require more complex, unpredictable challenges with higher stakes to maximize their learning” (Doody). People who are set in complex challenges will be able to handle the situation, which it can increase their ability to handle similar challenges they will encounter in the future. Comfort zones limits people from handling challenges, but enforcing challenges within their work can help them overcome the comfort zone. Challenges are necessary for people
‘It is when I struggle that I strengthen. It is when challenged to my core that I learn the depth of who I am.’ I kept on repeating this to myself waiting for my campus interview in the final year. Sitting there with fervor, I entered the room with utmost confidence. The whole interview was not just technical but challenged my grit, determination and presence of mind. And after coming out of the interview, I just knew I had grabbed the opportunity. That day taught me; challenges can make you or break you; it all depends on you.
Challenges are one of the many things we as humans posses. We learn to face challenges and how to conquer the ones that come after them. I have many challenges but my main one is a personal family issue. Recently I moved in with my mom and I have not got to see my sister and my stepsister who live with my dad. This is a challenge because It distracts me from things I need to be focused on. Another challenge is one that not only I face but a ton of other people do as well, procrastination. I procrastinate a ton and I usually do things the night before they are due or the next morning before I go to first block. I have been getting better at this by starting on the assignment the night I received it and working on it a little every night. This way I work on it and I do not procrastinate and I get my work done neatly and on time. My challenge I am least concerned about is self confidence. I struggle with making decisions and wondering what other people think about me. I am currently learning to
