Challenges facing female head teacher’s phenomenological study in the Effia – Tanokrom Circuit of the Secondi – Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region of Ghana Women just as their male counterparts, have a right to actively participate in leadership in any facets of the society. In fact, they are permeating every domain of activities with assertiveness and proven competence, and making in – roads into hitherto male monopoly of executive management roles in organizations especially in the developed countries. This study will seek to gain an insight into the leadership styles adopted by female head teachers of basic school in the Effia – Tanokrom Circuit of the Sekondi – Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region of Ghana. It will also investigate the challenges they face in their line of duty, and how these challenges could be surmounted to enhance their performance.
