The Championship Game
It took place at the baseball field. Two teams are in the championship. Those teams are the Indians, and the Mudcats. Both teams came flying through the playoffs. It is 2 elimination. The main players, by main I mean the playmakers on the Indians are Tyler, Trent, and David. The playmakers on the Mudcats are Tim, Josh, and Jacob. There is a big conflict. It is such big game. It is SO stressful. Everyone’s hands are shaking, but they are ready to play some baseball. Both of our teams came right up through the playoffs. The Mudcats lost once in the playoffs, but the good news is for them that it is 2 elimination. It is the Finals. It is the Championship. It is the big deal. It is the game we have all

Next up to bat is Tim. First pitch he hits right to the first baseman for out number 1. Jacob is up to bat with 1 out. First pitch is a ball but the person on second, Josh, is trying to steal third. Fortunately the catcher, Trent, threw a good throw, and caught him stealing and got him out. Jacob is still up to bat, and the next pitch is a line drive to the third baseman, David, but he had an amazing catch. At the end of the first inning the score is 0-0. So about at the end of the fifth inning, the score IS STILL 0-0. The bad news is that they only play 6 innings. Someone has to score. At the start of the 6th inning, the Indians have there number nine batter up which is Nathan. The first pitch is a strike. He did not swing at it. The next pitch is a strike. It is a swing and a miss. Next pitch is a strike but it is another miss. That is three strikes and that is one out. One out and here come the first batter on the batting order, Trent. He hits the first pitch right in between center field and left field for a double. Next up to bat is David. First pitch is a foul ball. Next pitch is another foul ball. The count is 0-2. The next pitch is a groundout to the second baseman. Next up to bat is Tyler. So there is 2 outs and all of the pressure is on. The first 2 pitches are a ball. Next pitch is a strike. The pitch after that is another strike. The count is 2-2. Next pitch is a

In the last five years, either an NFC West (Seattle twice; San Francisco) or NFC South (Carolina Panthers; Atlanta Falcons) team has represented the conference in the Super Bowl. However, as divisional powers shift, we could see a shakeup in the NFC during the upcoming season. With the NFL Draft completed and training camps beginning, let’s look at the NFC teams that could represent their divisions in the 2017-18 playoffs.
Imagine a world where The College Football Playoffs were so intense it would have everyone on their toes in excitement. It would brighten everyone's day to be able to come home and host a friendly party for these big games. Therefore College Football Playoffs are a very well-liked new system. The College Football Playoffs is a bracket of four teams to decide who is the best college football team. This system replaced a computer poll that pick the top two teams of college football and had them play together for the championship. The College Football Playoffs started in the 2014 season and has not been around for too long. It was Larry Culpeper's idea to put four teams into a bracket and play as if it was a tournament( Oster). This however has its weaknesses. Adding these extra post season games
The world of sports has grown larger than life over the past century, especially in college. Being a collegiate athlete is, without question, the hardest athletic profession in the world. Not only are students devoted to their sport, which requires an obscene amount of time of preparation, but they are also devoted to their school work. And the award they receive for their hard work? Of course there are the great memories, friendships made, “free education”, or national championships, but are theses students receiving their fair share? Should college athletes be paid? It is a question that has been asked, but never truly answered. College athletes should be paid for their work. I even have the perfect system to see
Every year it seems like the world is getting smaller and smaller. Before the internet became the internet things were much different. Arguably the biggest benefactor is high school athletes. They no longer have to worry about being noticed. All they have to do is upload highlight reels online. This technological advancement is extremely valuable for small town athletes. But will it have a major effect on Division One Football?
The time had finally come for the boy and his father to head downtown to the stadium. As they got closer to downtown, traffic began to back them up for miles. The boy began to worry that they would ever make it to the game on time, creating an illusion of an endless line of cars blocking them from the stadium. Alas, they made it through the disruptions and had arrived at the ball park, the boy looked on in awe, as it was bigger than he ever imagined. Their tickets were scanned, and walked to their seats, first row behind the dugout; the most plum seats in the whole place. The game began with the toss of the first pitch, as the opposing batter stood at the plate; the crowd let out roaring boos. The boy asked his father why they were yelling at the player, his father began to explain he had been caught cheating with steroids and will forever have an asterisk next to his name because of it, all the fans despised him. As the game carried on, each team went back and forth scoring runs until it was tied in the bottom of the 9th inning. The boy’s favorite player was up to bat, and with one swing of the bat, sent the ball over the fence for the game winning homerun. A nuclear cheer erupted throughout the entire stadium as everyone celebrated winning
The UTPB Men’s basketball program is coming off its most successful season in program history. Last season’s performance put UTPB basketball on the map and has set this season up for high expectations. So, what are the expectations? Another regular season conference championship? A conference tournament championship? A high seed in the south-central region followed by winning the region? No, it’s winning a national championship. After coming out of nowhere last season, where they were ranked 9th in the Lone Star conference preseason poll, the team shocked everyone and won the Lone Star Conference Regular Season and Tournament championships in just their first season in conference play. Their magical season ultimately came to an end in
Does anyone care for Sunday night football? This is not just any Sunday night NFL game, but the biggest sporting event in the world that 151 million people will watch in 232 different countries. (“By the Numbers”). Welcome to the Super Bowl. The huge night that everyone looks forward to is a “billion-dollar economic engine that is bigger than the Gross Domestic Product of many nations” (John 3). Although the Super Bowl is only played once a year, it is the biggest, most-widely known game in American history and the most-widely viewed television spectacle in the world.
In high school many kids often choose not to participate in extra curricular activities saying that there pointless or that only a certain type of person would do something like play football, or join the chess club. While this type of thinking may get some people through school and through life, can it really be looked at as being a healthy lifestyle? Today sports have proven to be a healthy outlet for students, in dealing with stress in the classroom at home and among their peers.
Flashback to before September 9th, 1979, all televised sporting events were on ABC, NBC, or CBS, and fans had to wait for the 5 o'clock or 10 o'clock or the next morning's paper to see other teams' highlights and scores of. That was the pre-ESPN era. Now, sports fans have unlimited access about sports anytime they want 24/7 in today's sports world dominated by ESPN. William Rasmussen was the mastermind behind the fresh edgy network that's broadcast to over half the countries in the world. Blossoming into a mini-media conglomeration in its own, ESPN has conquered of the so-called "Sports Nation" does not show any signs of slowing down anytime take over. Once upon a time, there were five animals. One day the David the kangaroo invited his friends to come to his house for a sleep over. All the friends came over and they had lots of fun playing around, but one of the animals saw a trophy. One of his friends asked David
From the first two national champions, Rutgers and Princeton, to last year’s debateable Auburn national championship winning team, college football has always had difficulties deciding national champions. The BCS National Championship game was thought to give a less prejudice opinion on which teams play in the championship game than humans did. However, it has stimulated more controversy in college sports than Cal-Stanford “The Play.” The problem with the BCS teams is, it chooses two teams that are based on profit, popularity, and record. The BCS is in need of replacement by a playoff system because with a playoff system college football teams have more of an opportunity to show themselves.
For my career research paper I have chosen to delve into the world of the sportswriter, and take a closer look at what that occupation may hold for myself. I have chosen to research this form of journalism because I consider myself to be a sports fanatic, and would very much enjoy spending the rest of my working days writing about the conditions in the world of sports. During the last year or so I have taken a period of time everyday to relax and read over sports articles from baseball and football at some of my favorite websites, such as espn.com or nesn.com, or to sit down and watch Sports Center on ESPN. I also seem to have an ability to remember statistics and rosters of players and
A major role in my life would definitely be sports. It is almost as if I look up to sports because I could not live without them. Sports pretty much define me as me. I love to play sports as well as watch all kinds of sports on T.V. and if I could ever go to a game and watch the players play live I would be thrilled. Basically sports define me because I am ambitious, I finish what I start, I set goals for myself, and I am a fierce competitor in which I love to win and I hate to lose. The greatest part about sports to me is living for the moment when the game is on the line and the pressure is on can you come through and make a play for your
Throughout this vast country we as Americans are entertained by many different things, including movies, music, and sports. Although, there are many ways for me to be entertained, I prefer the enjoyment of sports. As a youngster I enjoyed playing backyard games. We rounded up neighborhood kids and played for fun. We played either football or basketball every weekend. These two sports are the favorites of those who play them around the world. While these sports are alike in many ways, they are very different in other aspects.
