Introduction
“Change within a business or organization is inevitable and even necessary. “For many years, the world of business has experienced an increasing rate of change” (Baack, 2012). With different changes there will be challenges. Organizations and their workers face many challenges in the workplace. So when employees hear the word “change”, their first reaction is anxiety or reluctance. This comes from the fear of change.
Resistance to Change
In my current place of employment change is constant. The main reason for resistance in my organization is “Not understanding why a change has become necessary” (Baack, 2012).
I currently work for a private, non-profit community based organization that is funded by the government. Our organization is located in seven surrounding counties in South Carolina. The mission of GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission Incorporated, a community-based organization, is to deliver quality services, assistance and opportunity to eligible customers with emphasis placed on dedication, employment and developing self-sufficiency” (GLEAMNS HRC, 2016). I have been employed for over five years as the Youth Case Manager for the biggest county; Greenwood. The organization is made up four programs that assist in the communities. The program I work under is the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA). Because our program is funded by the government there will be constant changes.
