Every school has a dress code. My school has the students to give advice on things they would like to change to the school’s dress code. I would like to change the schools dress code by being able to wear ripped jeans where they are ripped above the knee and shorter shorts.
Therefore, reasons why we should change the dress code. Some kids may not be able to have money to buy a new pair of jeans or longer shorts. For some sports you have to wear short shorts. Why should it be different during school hours? Its not fair for athletes to not be able to wear the uniforms during school.
On the hand, reasons why we aren’t allowed to wear them at school. The school say inappropriate. Then why do they allow us to wear them during school activities
The clothing that some students are wearing is very distracting and affecting the learning of other students. Which is why in some dress codes, schools prohibit students from wearing shorts and dresses if not for a certain length requirement. When students are wearing inappropriate clothing it can get some students unfocused on the lesson. Others who disagree might say “Dress codes aren't fair to the students especially those that use their clothing as a way to express
School dress codes are unnecessary and detrimental to students because they waste student's time, damage their self-image, and have no discernable benefit. Wasting time is not conductive with learning and is a reason why dress codes are negative to students. School dress codes usually involve the
The Giver, by Lois Lowry is about a young boy named Jonas who is growing up in a utopian society. In The Giver they have no memories of anything that has pain even involved which meant that the community had to get rid of some joyful things also. Jonas, the receiver, and The Giver himself are the only two that know the memories. The author, Lois Lowry, was given the Newbery medal in 1994. In her acceptance speech of the medal she stated things in her life that influenced her book, The Giver. Many of the events in Lois Lowry’s life had really influenced many of the big events in The Giver.
We should have dress codes because some people feel insecure about their appearances. If we start wearing inappropriate school clothes, such as shorts and tank tops then some people may feel insecure. They may not feel good about how they look and this could cause serious behavior problems and interfere with school work and socializing.
Let us begin with the obvious. Changing the dress code allows for kids to be comfortable wearing clothes. Many students will be able to move a lot better, not having to wear tight clothes. It also means that students can wear the clothes they have and not have to spend money on new clothes.
Why should schools modify their dress codes? All throughout the United States, schools have dress codes. Some dress codes have meaning full and low dress code rules, others have rules that make teens feel uncomfortable and get punished for. Daily students are judged on how they dress. Dealing with a dress code takes time and effort for a teen to understand why they are being punished.
We have some concerns with the dress code. We think it should be updated. Girls are not allowed to wear athletic shorts anymore yet guys wear them everyday and people seem to not have a problem with that. We understand that we need limitations but it seems that like the dress code is mainly targeted towards girls. The dress code says that shorts need to be mid thigh but it doesn't state that we cannot wear athletic shorts at all. We understand that some athletic shorts are short for school but we don't think that it should be prohibited. The temperature is going up as the school year goes on, so girls are going to want to wear athletic shorts so we can be well situated in the school day and we could be more focused. Getting pulled out of class
Schools make up reasons for why they enforce dress codes on the students. To list some, to keep students dressing modestly, stop teasing between students, boys become distracted, and
Dress codes is a standard of clothing for school, office, club, or restaurant. Schools have dress codes to promote professionalism and a distraction-free learning environment. More standards of dressings are set in place for girls than males. This causes an unequal amount of bias towards women and sexism to occur in the dress code.
One change i would recommend for the school dress code would be to let girls wear V neck shirts without a tank top. therefore Girls should be able to wear any type of shirt they want, without any problems. telling girls to cover up are saying to not be confident with their body. More people need to respect others body and not be so mean, Girls need to learn to feel confident with their body. With this being said Wearing V neck shirts that show a very little bit of skin or cleavage should not be a problem.
The controversy about dress codes asks an important question: are dress codes targeting girls and transgender students? Several sites including:https://www.adl.org/education/resources/tools-and-strategies/table-talk/what's-fair-and-unfair-about-student-dress-codes, stated that when they spoke to girls they said they feel shamed and judged by dress codes. Are dress codes limiting students creativity. Should these girls really feel harassed men and boys at their school?
School dress codes are believed to be to strict today, and that they need to be changed. These rules on what to wear and what not to wear are applied mainly because shorts and tank tops are seen as a distraction to other students in the classroom. Shorts that show too
Have you ever been excluded from learning because of what you wore to school? In most schools, dress codes are set in place to provide a better learning space for all students. Having a dress code can oppress students because students are given the impression that they should not express themselves. Not all families can afford the clothes that abide by the rules. For example, some students don 't have the means to pay for new clothes, so they have to use hand-me-down clothing. Enforcing a dress code can lead to more problems in the long run because of the exceptions made for students who are athletes and cheerleaders. Many school faculty members including teachers and administrators think that keeping a dress code will keep students looking appropriate while learning, but this idea is wrong because it keeps students from expressing themselves and, the dress code singles out women.
As I am reading the Countryside “Modified” Dress Code many things are crossing my mind. One of the many is the slow deterioration of youth expression. We go to school to learn, not to worry about what we can and can't wear. Little things like this take away from the minimal sleep many high schooler’s receive. Instead of using time and money towards the appearances, the school could give this attention to the other needs of the school such as the shortage of books in many classrooms. The school board is making irrational, and impulsive decisions while effecting the budget of parents.
Dress codes are worldwide and many people have problems dealing with them. Uniforms or dress codes are implemented at both jobs and school. Some dress codes make it to where people cannot express who they are or how they may feel. Dress codes should be implemented but not as strict. Uniforms help many people financially, but that does not keep the issues such as bullying away. They also limit people to who they are and that is not okay. Lighten up on dress codes.
