Hi Parents, Happy end of the Semester! We have continued to work our way through the Hebrew Aleph Bet. We have learned all the letters through Hey! (plus the letter Chet). Before learning a new letter each week we review the old letters, their sounds, and words that begin with each letter. I have sent a review coloring packet home with each child that if they have time and want to they can review the letters. On the last day Chanukah, we learned all about the drediel and made drediels of our own. This past week we learned all about the story of Joseph. As a class we talked about Joseph’s coat and all about siblings fighting. To help the children remember the story they each made a "coat" of many colors, just like Jacob the patriarch gave
The activity was introduced at large group time. I told the children that the alphabet letters went missing and asked if they could please help me find them. Olivia took each small group down to
day winter festival of lights, Celebrated with lightings and more. The Greeks tried to take over but failed because of the Jews stopped them. They eat fried foods to celebrate the Holy oil. Kids like to play a game with a top with letters on it. Hanukkah is celebrated because of what happened in the past when the Syrian-Greeks wanted to rule the Jews.
I am writing this letter not to make you feel sorry for me and other lower class Jews, but to make you aware of the current conditions we are living in. I am not writing this letter as an expert on Jewish issues but am writing to you as someone who has some experience in dealing with the problems we as Jewish people face. In general, I want to discuss how something needs to change in society in order for lower class Jews to succeed and one possible solution to these issues we face is the adaption of Theodor Herzl’s Jewish
The Washington, D.C. Jewish community Center, which is part of the Judaism faith, is located at DuPont Circle 1529, 16th Street, NW, Washington DC, 20036. On November 13, 2015, I visited the Shabbat Shalom service, which is usually held on Friday evening at 6.00 P.M. Personally, I am a Christian by religion, my active involvement in church activities started at the early age of 16 years and ever since my faith have been deeply rooted in this religion. The traditional Christian beliefs include the belief in one, only true God, who is one being, and exist as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Central to the Christian faith is the belief that Jesus Christ is the
I hope all of you enjoyed Thanksgiving and this email finds you well. I wanted to remind everyone that we have a board of review coming up on the Tuesday following the second Monday in December which would be December 13th this year. We will have some action items and I can have everything prepared when we meet to shorten the meeting. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes unless there are questions. Would everyone like to meet first thing in the morning say around 9 am or in the afternoon?
interrupted by the sound of glass breaking. We all thought it was the Green Police coming to find us. Mr.Frank motioned for me to turn off the light so I reached for it, but lost my balance and fell with a crash. Whoever was downstairs froze, then ran down the steps. Mother and Father got really upset. Mother begged Father to get our money to attempt to buy the Green Police out, but Father refused. Mr. Frank went downstairs to find out what was happening. After a while, he wasn’t back and everyone was worried. I offered to go downstairs to look for Mr. Frank, but my dad pushed me away from the door and told me I had already done enough. It was an accident! I didn’t
There is always time to share with the less fortunate before the end of the year. With the holidays drawing near, CHHS teachers are taking the time to help the less fortunate kids with a thoughtful organization called Operation Christmas Child. This is an amazing journey of a shoebox gift that travels around the world to be received by a child in need. One simple shoebox filled with toys and accessories can definitely make a difference in a child's life. Many of these unprivileged children have never received a Christmas gift in their entire childhood. A shoebox packed with hygiene items, accessories, clothes, even toys will fill a child's heart with love. One shoebox can make a huge impact. What comes in the box is fun but what comes out of
shot deal thing will help the Dark Side and me out. Below is a list
The Shoah is a Hebrew word for catastrophe and is now considered by all Jewish and non-Jewish people a disaster that shaped history. During World War II, the massacre of six million Jews took place in Germany as the dominant powers of Nazism began spreading across Europe. It was a period of time where many people questioned the ‘Mystery of God’ and found themselves losing faith in the Church. The Catholic Church’s response to this crisis was considered by many incompetent and controversial.
It was a lonely town. Cracked buildings and straw houses. There was a chemist, grocery store and a town hall. The houses were small and not many people lived in the town. There was a population was about 30 people so everyone knew each other. 5 out of this 30 had type 1 diabetes. The chemist was a well loved by the whole town. Many got supplies from there. They were slowly running out of supplies and medication for the type 1 diabetics. The township heard of the news that Jesus was curing and healing people in surrounding towns and cities. The diabetics wrote letters to Jesus asking him to bring medication and supplies to the town. Before they knew it Jesus was on route to their town.
Personal letters have been popular forms of communication since 1800s. Personal letter is an informal type of letter that usually concerns personal matters and is sent from one individual to another. It is a good idea to put your name and address on the upper right hand side of the not necessary. However, many people put their address and contact information only on the envelope.
As Lutherans we study God's Word but we don't always take the steps to put it in action. So I approached the elders with the idea to start a program with the children that would allow them to use their gifts. After getting approval and finding the funding, we have started Family Night for K-12th grade on Wednesday evenings. Our goal is to give the children a real and tangible way to use their gifts. We eat dinner, have a devotion, sing songs, play games then we have a project planned that will use their gifts. Things like making flyers and taking them door to door inviting others to join us for Family Night. We have written letters for Pastor to take to the shut-ins and do that just about every Wednesday. We have planted flower beds around the church and are practicing songs so we can visit some of the shut-ins and sing to them. We let the children lead us in Compline at closing and read the devotions. I would say it was all my idea but it was something that the Lord had put on my heart and I used the gifts He has given me to make it all
I am writing to you again, feeling like I haven't talked to you in a long time. I hope that you are well. How was Passover? I hope to hear that it was great. With me everything is fine, and the holiday brought a lot of color, songs and mainly lots of food. We also saw all the extended family. It gave the time to disconnect from the stressful routine for a bit, and thank God that we have these periods to get away from the busy daily pressures. I'm already beginning to smell the end of the studies, and it is another thing that brings me comfort and also pride. I am proud that I am finally graduating.
Christmas provides children with a Bible study without overwhelming them. Kids want to study the Bible without it feeling like more homework. In just ten minutes a day, children will build good habits and discipline with daily Bible study using Christmas.
I usually start my letters off by immediately wishing the person well and informing them that I am praying that the letter finds them in great spirits, but I feel like I owe you an apology first. We have been talking about writing one another letters for some time now, but I have been very slow about getting mine to you. I hope you can forgive me. I assure you, once we begin, it will be far more frequent and consistent. I think writing letters is such an intimate way to share your knowledge, experience, and stories with people. Unfortunately, countless people have abandoned letter writing as a form of communication. Sure, I could have written you and email or even texted you, but there is a child in me that finds joy in checking the mail while waiting for a letter. Knowing that a person’s words are enfolded inside an envelope, traveling to and through places that my eyes may never see, all just for me to read is moving. By writing me, you are keeping the hopeless romantic that I have become over these past four years alive. Thank you forgiving me words to read and stories to love.
