The authors, Rita and Kenneth Dunn, shared several tactile learning activities in chapter 6 of Teaching Elementary Students Through Their Individual Learning Styles. I found the content of chapter 6 immensely interesting. I am currently in my thirteenth year of teaching and have taught in 4 different schools, which has allowed for me to see and use a vast array of learning activities. The Dunns’s chapter 6 was valuable because they shared activities I had not seen before. I plan to use at least three of the activities in the upcoming months. In addition, to the new activities, the Dunns used pictures, drawings and step by step instructions for creating the activities. Chapter 6 was both shared both new and valuable activities, along
5. In HANESS, the men age 18 and over had an average height of 69 inches and an SD of 3 inches. The histograms is show below, with a normal curve. The percentage of men with heights between 66 inches and 72 inches is exactly equal to the area between (a) and (b) under (c). This percentage is approximately equal to the area between (d) and (e) under the (f). Fill in the blanks.
The grand old city of Boston has always been a city of immense significance. Since its beginning, Boston was instrumental in bringing about the American Revolution. Even now Boston is leading the world in science and technology; however, not everyone that lives in Boston is being positively affected. In the book “All souls” Michael Macdonald is able to present his story prove that it’s possible to overcome systematic injustices through his responses when he was affected by violence and poverty, death, and resilience.
In 1619, Virginia was an isolated British settlement on the Chesapeake Bay. It was sparsely populated by men trying to make the colony profitable for England. But the colonists were devastated by hunger, disease, and raids by Native Americans. So when the White Lion, a badly damaged Dutch slave ship arrived, carrying 20 kidnapped black Africans, the colonists bartered food and services for the human cargo. The Africans started working for the colonists. They would work 7 years of hard labor in exchange for land and freedom. But when colonies started to prosper, the colonists were reluctant to lose their labor. Since the Africans did not have citizenship, they were not subject to English common law. They were workers with no rights.
[LO 1] Augustana received $10,000 of qualified dividends this year. Under what circumstances would all $10,000 be taxed at the same rate? Under what circumstances might the entire $10,000 of income not be taxed at the same rate?
I read the chapter “The Newcomers”, the book first starts off by stating how France started sending explorers to find new lands. When Francis I, (The king of France) sent Jacque Cartier, his job was to find a shipping route and precious gems and metals. Jacque Cartier arrived at Newfoundland and from there journeyed down to Prince Edward Island. Chief Donnacona went with his brother and two sons protest the cross, but the French convinced Donnacona to allow Jacque Cartier to take his two sons Domagaya and Taignoagny. Donnacona told stories to ward off Cartier from going past Quebec City, but soon Cartier went against Donnaconas wishes and past Quebec City and went as far as Montreal. Cartier’s crew got sick with scurvy and died off but he was still alive so he set sail back to France.

When learning about factual information, it is necessary to learn through the utilization of a textbook. Whether it is in Science courses or History courses, it is essential for a student to gain knowledge through the understanding that a textbook provides. In HIST3, Kevin M. Schultz initiates an approach to learning about United States History in a chronological manner through 1877. While it effectively states the historic events that happened throughout time, it avoids going into specific detail. In Chapter 2 of Schultz HIST3, he states the events that occurred when the first Europeans came into contact with Native Americans. This contact transpired when Europeans set out to explore lands outside of Europe in order to find riches and to
1. Coming out of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, different views of federalism were carried: (1) Alexander Hamilton believed that the national government was the superior and leading force in political affairs, since the people created it and its laws were the “supreme law of the land;” (2) Thomas Jefferson believed that “the people” were the ultimate sovereigns, and since the states was a result of agreement among the states, the states were supreme over the national gov’t.
In chapter eight of Unbroken, the narrator follows the description of Super Man’s bombing of Wake by describing the dangers of war, specifically in the American Air Corps. After describing multiple instances of Louie’s friends who have died in combat and the very real risks that are associated with flying in combat, the narrator follows with this quote, emphasizing how unlikely rescue at sea was. Although “the military was dedicated to finding crash and ditching survivors” (90), “the improbability of rescue, coupled with the soaring rate of accidental crashes, created a terrible equation” (91). This quote, and much of this chapter, is a foreshadowing of the events that occur with Phil, Louie, and the rest of the crew of the Green Hornet. By
Although I agree with most of the opinions that Kinzer has put forward in this book, there is one area that he jumps the gun, at least from my perspective. In the last chapter of the book Kinzer talks about how the current Iranian government out of hatred for the west, has been financing terrorist groups like Hamas for years and this on its own is harmless and factual, it’s the assertion he makes next that will cause your head to spin. Out of nowhere he says, “It is not far-fetched to draw a line from operation Ajax through the Shah’s repressive regime and the Islamic Revolution to the fireballs that engulfed the World Trade Center in New York.” (Kinzer, p203-204) To be totally objective he meant that Iranian revolutionary leaders had
