In the book,”Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of Seal Team 10”, Marcus Luttrell recreates what happened to him and Seal Team 10 during Operation Redwing in order to help preserve the events that transpired during the mission and to aswell honor the men who lost their lives while operating within it.

In I Survived: “The Shark Attacks of 1916” by Lauren Tarshis, the story of the shark attacks in New Jersey in 1916 is talked about. It is about a boy named Chet who lives with his Uncle and goes to a creek with some of his friends. He and his friends pulled pranks on each other all the time. He told his friends there was a shark in the water and no one believed him. That’s when he got injured. There was also 4 shark attacks reported around the same time also.

The theme of this book is to be strong through the toughest times. This theme is shown throughout the book when Kira is the only one alive in her family, Anabella passes away, and even when Matt was lost. Another theme could be trust your instincts. When people read “Angela's Ashes” by Frank McCourt, and “The Street” by Ann Petry, they can probably sense that there is something similar among the two stories', and that's because they share a common theme. The theme is how people can persevere through problems that they encounter.
