It is a well known fact that patient’s who suffered from cerebrovascular accidents (CVA) may experience the moments of mood change and their behaviour can be unpredictable. The situation, when patient doesn’t follow the orders of the PTA and patient’s safety is endangered, is clearly echoing the problems that are described in the chapter on respectful interaction in difficult situations. Establishing rapport and respectful and trusting relationships is an essential part of working with and supporting children and young people. This is because it enables pupils to feel respected, empowered and it means that communication is comfortable and clear between both pupil and adult. It also enables staff members to be professional, build a good relationship with pupils and to role model behaviour that they would expect of their pupils. There are various ways that staff members can establish rapport and achieve respectful and trusting relationships including speaking at an age appropriate level with their pupils, displaying good communication skills such as eye contact and an appropriate volume to our voice, following through
This assignment is much like a Case Study and is intended to be a comprehensive learning experience that synthesizes essential psychiatric and medical/surgical nursing theory. Your finished product will demonstrate mastery of principles needed for nurses working with mentally impaired patients.
As the director, at the skilled nursing facility and rehabilitation center, her job is to help individuals, families, and loved ones cope with the recent diagnosis of the client being admitted. She is instrumental in the community by helping those who can no longer help themselves. She is a social worker but assumes the role of advocate by voicing concerns from the resident to other staff and family members. Her role is to help the client maintain autonomy and dignity throughout the process of relinquishing their independency.
Health and social care professions have in common the concept of a 'duty of care' toward their users. This means that the wellbeing of the service user should be central to their work. All treatment given must have a therapeutic benefit to the user or must be essential for saving life.
Living is a gift. Many people in the world are simply alive, but living is rare. There are people that are too sick to enjoy life, the disease that has manifested in the body slowly takes over the mind and rids the mind of joy and radiance. The glow of life slowly diminishes before our eyes and it is truly heart breaking. This person is not just a disease that happens to be hosted in a human. This is a human that happens to have a disease. This person is someone’s parent, someone’s child, someone’s sibling, and someone’s grandparent. This person has memories, hobbies, and loved ones. This person is your patient. Making a difference in just one person’s life is an incredible feat. Being a physician assistant would be making a difference in many
In this essay I will discuss a service user I encountered on recent practice placement who was referred to the hospital after she has been deteriorating in mental health and she has bipolar disorder. I am going to discuss the assessment and development of the care plan of the service user. The essay will also consist of a brief biography of the patient’s contributing factors towards her present mental health circumstances. The relevant culturally sensitive engagement and assessment skills used by the nurse in their relationships with the service user will be discussed. I will also explore legislative and nursing frameworks that influence and contribute to positive and hopeful service user’s care. The assignment will also explore the
This report aims to discuss the communication observed between the Nurse and Patient portrayed in the video. There are two scenarios in which the Nurse addresses the patient’s concerns. The patient’s response is influenced by the Nurse’s approach. In a health care setting, a personal, empathic yet professional approach is most effective in communication from Nurse to Patient. Furthermore this report assesses the therapeutic techniques used by the Nurse to effectively interact with the patient.
Analyzing the journey of a hospitalized patient is imperative in nursing practice in order to produce holistic, strengths based care (Gottlieb, 2014). When examining the patient and his or her journey, it is crucial for the nurse to explore many factors including the patient’s personal history leading up to admission, the unique and individualized care plan, impacting strengths and gaps within the healthcare system, as well as the factors affecting discharge care and planning. For the purpose of this paper, a patient by the name of Anna will be explored in order to highlight essential aspects associated with providing holistic care.
The aim of this study is to provide a detailed account of the nursing care for a patient who is experiencing a breakdown in health. One aspect of their care will be discussed in relation to the nursing process. The model used to provide an individualised programme of care will be discussed and critically analysed.
The social interaction is an integral part of everyday life of each individual, which is learned from the early childhood and is innate in its nature. It includes the social exchange of information, the ability to communicate, decide, and take responsibility for one’s action. The routine work of healthcare professionals includes the information exchange on an everyday basis. The excellent knowledge of primary disciplines necessary for the practice is crucial for the healthcare professional; however, one can encounter the difficulties without the deeper understanding of ethical principles of communication in the healthcare environment. The book “Health Professional and Patient Interaction”” by R. Purtilo, A. Haddad, and R. Doherty introduces the readers with the basic ethical principles and behaviors in the healthcare setting. The key points that the healthcare professional has to practice to achieve success and harmonic professional relationship with the patient are: respect in all circumstances, the ability to listen, the readiness for challenges, and care with empathy to the patient situation beyond any limits.
First of all, I recognized that I was dealing with humans, and not just dealing with a disease process and application of the nursing process in the aspect of restoring patient health. I was dealing with emotions, and families, and cultural beliefs that influenced individual’s aspects of care. I started to see that health did not just incorporate healing the disease, but also recognized the importance of making sure patient’s felt that their
The first stage of this framework is coming to know the client, which requires the nurse to understand that the personal meaning of health and healing is individualized and the context of this area is highly subjective. Gillespie and Paterson (2009) state that “clinical decision-making processes are triggered by recognition of a cue from a patient” (p. 167). In the case of this patient, the decision was based off a cue; a change
“There are many issues and concerns for the health care professional and nurse when caring and
I read your post and I couldn't help but to become annoyed . I know several teachers at my sons school that wouldn't allowed new changes of the new principle. It took her a minute to put her feet down ,but after a year or so we as parents could see the adjustments. I'm in shock of how direspectful adults can be. I think we need strong leaders in any business, but especially among the children's education. I think you are doing a great job and could only go as far as you are allowed. Yes,kids may lack due to lazziness or irresponsible behaviors of another, just don't lose your passion and be the childrens
Henderson 14 basic needs specifies general focus for patient care. The focal role of the nurse is to help patients if they were incapable of performing these 14 basic needs independently (Chitty, 2005). Henderson also stressed the significance of nurses in fostering health, inhibition, and management of diseases. In the same manner, according to Orem, nursing focuses on persons with disabilities to sustain continuous provision of health care. Nursing is needed when patients are unable to function fully to support life, maintain health, and recover from injury or diseases (George, 2011).
