Veronica Roth is an American writer known for her Divergent trilogy of fiction novels for young adults, which revels as a coming-of-age story set in a post-apocalyptic Chicago.Roth grew up in Barrington, Illinois. She began writing at an early age and was an excellent reader. Veronica’s most famous book Divergent, is a story about a teenager named Tris who lives in a futuristic version of Chicago. In her world there are five factions, Erudite, Amity, Candor, Abnegation, andDauntless. Each faction has its own traits. Tris must decide if she wants to stay with her family orchoose another faction. Out of the many important characters in Divergent, Tris, Four, and Jeanine Matthews are the main characters throughout the story. Tris is the protagonist in the story, she originated in Abnegation, but soon found herself conflicted. Tris was stuck between choosing her family and another side of herself. Tris is divergent, which means she has the aptitude for several factions and she is able to release herself from simulations. Four (Tobias) another main character is also divergent and that is how he finds himself falling in love with Tris.Four is a mentor for the new faces in Dauntless. Although they are both mentors they believe in very different things. Four realizes the difference between bravery and stupidity. Jeanine Matthews is the antagonist because she is the leader of the Erudite and is also leading a revolution that involves mass murder and brain washing. She
