Character Analysis Of Divergent By Veronica Roth

The characters in all texts influence the theme especially in the book “Out of the Dust” by Karen Hesse. This book portrays the harsh and unwanted times of the dust bowl in the 1930’s. The text has two important characters Daddy and his daughter Billie Jo who are always coping with the loss of two beloved family members. In “Out of the Dust”, Billie Jo and Daddy exemplify the theme to never give up and to have optimism.

In the divergent series written by Veronica Roth it tells a story of a young girl named Tris in this series Tris goes through a lot of events uncovering some of the mysteries a little at a time. The first book in the series is called divergent. In divergent Tris starts out as being an abnegation member. Abnegation is all about being selfless. Tris didn 't exactly like being abnegation but she didn’t mind it. In this book when you turn 18 you take certain test that go through mind control. In these tests they found out that Tris was divergent. Divergent in this book is an exactly excepted among the people.

Have you ever binge watched a TV series? Many people usually do and even consider this a normal behavior in our society; however, the main character, Montag, from the novel Fahrenheit 451 written by Ray Bradbury is the only one in his society to be detached from the world of media. The civilians are brainwashed from the nonsense that they are watching and listening to. Television helps people to not interact with one another and trying to stop conversations. The people in the society are also getting into harm's way, when they are watching tv. In his novel, Ray Bradbury puts the focus on technology ruining the lives of innocent civilians.

In the book Montag reads out loud true friendship defined to Mildred. After, reading the definition he began thinking of an 17 year old girl, named Clarisse. How he had just met Clarisse and she had already put a new spin to his life. For Example, Clarisse would wait til Montag got off of work just to walk and talk to him. During their walks they would talk about many topics , some that left Guy thinking after she was gone. Then one day all of a sudden he stop seeing Clarisse.Guy missed her and began to feel lonely again on his walks home.

Another specific situation in when people could see Mildred as cold with any decency, emotion, and with some kind of wickedness is when she communicated to Montang that Clarisse (girl of seventeen years old) was gone. ‘’Forgot, forgot… Whole family moved out somewhere. But she’s gone for good. I think she’s dead’’ (Bradbury 44). For common sense, normal people with some kind of compassion could not announce a fatality by the same way of Mildred. The notice was delicate because a person’s life was involved, stranger for her, but Clarisse was her neighbor too. Fahrenheit 451 is a novel based on a character amed Montag and the life he lives. Throughout the novel his belief will be challenged and he will begin to see the world he and the other characters live in differently. Overtime the man who he was will not be the man he becomes. It was a warm sunny day in April and I was getting ready to go out, however I remembered that I previously turned the tv off I saw the weather report. It claimed that it was going to rain at 3:00 pm so I brought a raincoat. When my family and I left at 2:00 pm it started to drizzle and when we were 10 minutes from where we were supposed to be it started to rain heavily and there was much more traffic. We were 20 minutes late and we had to run into the restaurant because the rain got even worse but I was the only person who had a raincoat on. In Fahrenheit 451, Guy Montag, who didn't know his job as a fireman was dishonorable until Clarisse McClellan his new neighbor was talking about it which makes him curious, but nonetheless he brought it up to one of his coworkers Captain Beatty, she absolutely utterly disagreed with what he had to contribute. As a result, Montag started collecting books from where he put out fires because he was curious and started to tell his wife about it as well because he wanted to know more about his job and how it doesn’t benefit the people that he helps. Captain Beatty found out about what he was doing and got enraged, so she wanted to burn his house down and get him arrested. He then killed Beatty and ran to his friend Faber for help about what Guy Montag had just finished.

Each person is known to present a zeal of individuality, each specialising in a unique set of traits while learning from them creating new ideas. The novel takes place in a world composed of a literal definition of identity where each person is divided into “factions”, defining how they think and behave. All things considered, the story identifies many components of self-identity and symbolises it into a new take to how the human perceives individuality. When people are creative most of the time it is seen as unique or special. A person does not necessarily think that their creativity would make them stand out in a “bad way” due to their living situations. If you find yourself living in a gloomy society then you would think that being creative and different would bring hope back to the society. All of this describes the character Clarisse in the book Fahrenheit 451. In the novel, Clarisse is a unique character who represents the profound effects of creativity in an oppressive society.
