A disrespectful, cheapskate, tightwad, elderly man alright! In the story, Ebenezer (Scrooge) is a tawdry, bitter, curmudgeon man, you could also say he’s a firebrand sometimes. All he cares for is his MONEY! The author describes him as a very cruel man, he’s cruel because based on what I read is that he doesn't care much for poor people or anyone in need. From the reading, I know he's very self-centered and because of that, he doesn't want to “waste” his money on those people, from the text he would seem to be very unpleasant to be around because he's always grumpy and mean. In the story, Scrooge is VERY unsympathetic about his clerk! For, example he won't spend extra money to by heating for the clerk who's in a raggedy old jacket. Another example is, he’s also VERY impolite because in the reading he insults his nephew’s spouse because they had gotten married based on love. From the text, he's always very hateful to his nephew who is nothing but kind and caring for him.Based on what I read, he also has a very dull personality because the only thing he shows is boredom and anger! He never does anything exciting in his life it's always the same old routine. In the text, Scrooge is also very cruel because he almost hit a man in the face with a ruler! Just because the man was caroling. The story also describes Scrooge as always so serious and pretty lazy because all he does is sit around and do nothing but count money. Based on what I read, Scrooge is always scowling at
Charles dickens uses insults to portray Scrooge 's unpleasant personality. This can be alluded from Stave 1 in the novel where Scrooge can be seen snubbing the charity workers who came seeking for a donation. "If they would rather die, [...] they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.", such insult allows the reader to comprehend that Scrooge is nothing more than a greedy man who solely believes that the peasants are just money scammers and that they should all be locked up in a "prison". Today 's audience will see Scrooge this way and agree that he is a misery, bitter old man, who doesn 't like giving away however back in the 19th century the audience would not be shocked to see a wealthy man as selfish as Scrooge. It was common in London at the time to see factory workers exploiting children who worked in hard conditions by hurting them with the most dangerous work and the cruelest words which is why I can only but say that Scrooge is an unpleasant, old wretch.
Scrooge keeps the coal-box in his own room so the clerk is not able to
The text explicitly states Scrooge, a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, clutching, covetous, old sinner has passed away. According to the text, he despises many things such as happiness, humor, and even Christmas. From the reading, I know that he is depressed all the time, consequently his mental state has led him to call other people stupid, dumb, and idiots. On page three, in the conversation with his nephew Fred, Scrooge insults his nephew about marrying and loving his wife. The text states, that he also “seized the ruler with such energy of action, that the singer fled in terror, leaving the keyhole to the frost and even more congenial frost.” From the reading I know that Scrooge isn’t a people person and is very down about life. Based on the text he doesn’t really like being around them. For example Scrooge didn’t donate any money to the poor, and blew off his nephew about spending Christmas with them. In the text it states that there is no wind as bare as Scrooge, this means he doesn't really care or doesn't have many feelings.
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is one of the most classic stories that has been embraced by Western culture. There is a certain timelessness to the entire story, in that it demonstrates the powerful transformation of an incredibly stilted and unlikeable character to that of someone who is giving, kind and generous. The popularity and timelessness of this play is representative of how deeply human being want to believe in the possibility of change, even radical change, and that it's not too late to change one's life. However, the timelessness and popularity of this tale also reveals something else about human nature: there's a tendency such as an overwhelming whiff and desire for human beings to believe that transformation can be overnight and immediate. The reality is that most transformation and change takes years of hard work. However, change as it is presented in this play is a manifestation of the human desire to experience quick and instantaneous transformation, even with someone's character which has formed over a period of decades. In regards to the notion that "Ebenezer Scrooge is difficult to like, but easy to understand" this is generally true if an individual has had a fair amount of life experience. This paper will demonstrate that Ebenezer Scrooge is someone who has a fatal flaw, but the flaws which are demonstrated in this play, aren't as unique as some might view them. In many respects, Scrooge is

Scrooge is a very mean person and he doesn't care for anyone, he will be an old miser and he could care less about anything in the world except himself. He does mean stuff all the time liked decline charity and he doesn't even wanna make the world a better place. He even declined his nephews invite to a Christmas party now that's mean and when he's asked to donate for charity he is too much of a greedy soul to do anything to help anyone and he says that they need to go to a workhouse or prison, He doesn't care about anyone and he ignores everyone and could care less about the world's problems. He thinks that that is ok and then he gets a visit from a ghost saying that three ghosts are gonna come get him and that he shouldn't have been that greedy and he is gonna get a visit from them. Scrooge is freaking out and it takes him a while and he eventually gets sent to bed. In my opinion, though he is acting like that because Marley died and he is emotionally depressed and he takes his pain out on others because he is very said that's just my opinion.
Scrooge is a very angry, rude, unfriendly character. Scrooge’s cruel actions to most others are unkind, especially when it’s about Christmas. The bitterness drive in Scrooge against Christmas is very strong. Scrooge also hates things such as love, happiness, generosity, and regards them as irrational until such time that a rightful trio of ghosts came to set him right. Charles Dickens paints him as an old businessman, with a ring of frosty white hair on his head, a pointed nose, red eyes, thin eyebrows, and a wiry chin. He’s so cold inside, it makes his lips blue, the tip of his nose strawberry red. The book describes him as hard and sharp as flint, self-contained, and solitary like an oyster. He is also described as
Ebenezer Scrooge has gone through some really hard changes throughout the passage. The begging of the passage Scrooge was a really grumpy man who wasn't liked by many people from the town. On page 6 it quoted “ If they would rather die said Scrooge, they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population” this statement showed how Scrooge really didn't have a heart to care for others. Everyone in town was afraid of him because he was just really cold hearted that when someone would say Hi to him he would just walk by and ignore that person.
Scrooge had a miserable childhood where he was always in a boarding school and his parents never visited him. If you were sent to a boarding school and felt your parents forgot you, would you be an angry adult? Scrooge in the Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is a major character in the story in which he is not very nice to anybody because of his life happenings. When he appears in the story, he is greedy and doesn’t want to like anybody, he is a very unhappy man that only cares about himself. But at the end he kind of is clear that he was very childish and that he didn’t care about anyone else but himself so he decided he wanted to change his act. While he is with all the spirits, he goes from greedy and mean to clear of his mistakes, he wanted to be nice to everybody, and wanted to tell people that, by giving back to them in any way possible.
The play Scrooge & Marley by Israel Horovitz begins in London. Scrooge (the dynamic character) is a money collector and he has one clerk who goes by the name of Bob Cratchit. Scrooge is stingy, grumpy, selfish, rude, ungrateful, and frugal. Scrooge only pays his clerk fifteen shillings. Bob Cratchit has a sick boy at home, and only fifteen shillings is not going to keep the boy alive. Scrooge needed to change his ways and the way he lives. He also needs to change the way he treats other people, especially in the hard times London was going through. Three ghosts visited Scrooge the night before Christmas. These three ghosts shows Scrooge the consequences of his actions. Throughout the visits of the three ghosts, we saw a
This week London has lost one of its finest, Ebenezer Scrooge. Aged 65 sadly passed away after a long hard battle with cancer on Wednesday, 20th of August 1856 at the Royal London Hospital alongside his nephew, Fred, and loyal house worker, Mrs. Dibler.
The passing of Ebenezer Scrooge, wasn’t as upsetting as most passings. The common things people have done in his village is talk about him.
