Character Analysis : The Diary Of Anne Frank

The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett is a play about two Jewish families (The Franks and the Van Daans) are living in a secret annex in Mr. Frank’s old business building to hide from the Nazi’s. Anne Frank, younger sister of Margot (who is very lady-like), is very talkative and almost rebellious but through the play Anne is more polite; she is close to her father and distant with Mrs.Frank. Anne is a dynamic character who matures as she reflects on her actions.

Have you ever heard of the Holocaust? The Holocaust was a terrible time in history when Adolf Hitler was torturing many innocent Jews. He put them in concentration camps, but many tried to hid just like Anne Frank and her family. Anne Frank who was Jew, has a famous quote that says “In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” Even though throughout the “Diary of Anne Frank” we see that people are not always the best they could be, I agree with Anne and believe that everyone is still good at heart. One overall reason I chose that people are really good at heart are the acts of kindness Peter has throughout the book to Anne. Millions of jews died in the era known as the holocaust, the franks were forced into hiding cause of it. Anne frank and here family spent 25 months into hiding to avoid the Nazis. The whole frank family and their friends hid until the allied forces could liberate Holland. As time passed many historical events that occurred the annex influenced the moods and relationships of the characters.

The Diary of Anne Frank authored by Anne Frank, an autobiographical memoir, about a juvenile girl who goes into hiding in Amsterdam with her family that have characteristic traits like the reader. Headmost, Anne’s mom, Edith, has a characteristic trait of being a chatter box like her younger daughter. Next, Anne’s dad, Otto, is good natured. Finally, Anne’s sister, Margot, is a miniature mouse who does not consume any food.

The Holocaust was a miss to the events in the human history where there were millions of Jews and other people who were deemed “inferior” lost people’s lived at the hands of those whom many would be viewed by evil. However, one girl, Anne Frank, who was in fact Jewish thought and said this: “In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” I would have to agree with this quote. I think this way because of the following character Anne when she was giving out presents. However, someone might disagree with me based on this character, Dussel, when he was being rude to Anne and Peter.

In the holocaust there was a very human history event where millions of Jews and others who were in great danger to their lives because of their beliefs. Many lost their lives from the Nazis, because the Jews did believe the same of Nazis. Anne Frank was a Jew who had to go into hiding, and she stated: “In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” Despite every hard time and hate Anne and her family faced, she still was able to see the good in each person who's alive. After I read the play I will have to agree with Anne’s very moving quote that she said. On of the main reasons I am agreeing with Anne is during the time of Hanukkah when Anne made everyone a thoughtful present, and Anne was very kind to everyone throughout the play. However, I can still see where some may disagree due to Mr. Dussel's actions that he made. Mr. Dussel had a lack of sympathy for others, and had some unkind actions towards Anne.

Having a positive outlook during a conflict is an important way to respond. Staying positive will make the situation much better than it actually turns out to be. Anne Frank and Miss Breed are great examples of how to stay positive during tough times.You must focus on cooperation instead of control and aim to set limits with respect, kindness, and firmness in mind.

Discrimination is now becoming a well-known term around the world; many acknowledge it from the time they came across: sexism, racism, ageism, and the type Anne Frank came across, persecution. Anne Frank was a thirteen-year-old Jewish girl who was hiding from the German Army or the Nazi’s, as they are better recognized back then. Her life story consisted of constantly escaping and being in isolation from those who wanted her dead; it was a difficult time to live in. Anne Frank was attacked because of her differences; Adolf Hitler (leader of the Nazi’s) was killing anyone who was not classified as “pure” or part of the “superior race”.

The diary of a young girl is about the unimaginable horror that Anne Frank had to face accompanied with seven others, living in the secret annex. The main character being Anne Frank, writes in her diary about the most important events that happen inside and outside the annex. Once finishing reading the book I realized that the actions Nazis took against Jewish people was inhumane and overall just unacceptable in any society.

What is your reason for doing the right thing? Is it to be heroic, feed your ego or simply because you should? Both Eva and Anne both face the same question. Which is, why are you doing the right thing? Anne and Eva come to similar conclusions. Both “The Diary of Anne Frank” and “Freedom Writers” teach readers that you should do things because they are the right thing to do, not to be heroic, but in different ways.

The story The Diary of Anne Frank is about a young jewish girl and her family going into hiding from the Nazis in the 1940s. Throughout the time in the attic where they are hiding, the characters learn many new things and face new challenges. The story is based off of a real diary that the main character, Anne Frank, kept at the time they were hiding. The story has been around for many years, and has even been made into movies and plays. Historical events are reflected in the play The Diary of Anne Frank by showing the characters thoughts, actions, and feelings.

Anne Frank’s adventure starts when Anne first goes into hiding she is 13 she is unsure of what is happening, but she is aware of what is going on around her. When Anne, her family and some other people have to go into hiding together, because of what was happening around them. When they were all in hiding together in a place that is about the size of a small classroom Anne feels overwhelmed like she is surrounded by people who are all older than her. I think During this time Anne is all about her family, she tries to get along with them. During the day it is hard for Anne, because she can’t move or be heard. While they are all in the Secret Annex Anne feels closer to her dad than anyone.

I enjoyed reading the excerpts from Anne Frank’s diary because Anne is clearly a child prodigy of writing; her eloquence and talent extends far beyond her years. In the context of her diary, Anne Frank describes the daily events of living in a cramped secret hiding place.
