Dracula

Dracula is a horror novel written in 1897 by Bram Stoker. Since the publication of this novel on May 26, 1897, it has inspired thousands of authors; they have recreated it and added more dramatic characteristics to it.

Nowadays its common to know what vampires are, but back in those days when the novel was published it was something new and people got scared when they heard the name “Dracula”. Today many people reflect enthusiasm by watching tv shows or even movies about it.

The novel Dracula begins with an English lawyer named “Jonathan Harker” who works with his boss selling land. One day his boss got so sick that Jonathan was sent to Castle Dracula to sell some land. He must travel all the way to Transylvania. On his journey,

Harker sleeps at the Hotel Royale where he has dinner and eats paprika henld (which is a national dish of chicken with some red pepper) and since he really enjoyed it he asked for the recipe for her girl Mina. he went to sleep that night, but it was difficult because he had strange dreams and there was a howling dog under his window. The next day he left and went to the train station at 7:30 a.m. and left an hour after.

He continued to travel and saw beautiful towns and castles. When he arrived to Bistritz, Count Dracula directed him to stayed at the Golden Krone Hotel, were he was (to his surprise) already expected by a woman. After that, an elderly man gave him a letter from Count Dracula saying that he would continue traveling the next day at three in the morning.

When he was on his way to Castle Dracula, he saw very unusual trees and from his driver he could only see his ivory teeth and hat. During the trip wolves were howling and the horses where very scared. After a long drive, he maybe falls asleep and when he wakes up, the driver is gone. Jonathan is at Castle Dracula and stays a long time watching it. The ladies tried to “seduce” him, but Dracula came and told them that Jonathan belonged to him and gave them a bag with something in it (a baby, who was probably eaten). Dracula tells Jonathan to write three letters, the first one would say he was nearly finished, the second one saying he’s about to leave the castle and the third one would say that he has arrived at Bistritz. Jonathan realizes that he is a prisoner and as he is writing the letters he senses Dracula would probably kill and eat
