Athletes; they are all talented, they all work hard, but to be a volleyball player it takes much more than talent and hard work. “Volleyball is the sport through which I am able to express my God-given talents of being an athlete. It is a sport which involves relating, pushing, and encouraging your teammates. It has helped evolve me into the person I am today” (David Beard). Volleyball players put so much into the game that they put in their heart and their soul. It becomes your life. A volleyball player is unified with her team, tenacious with the sport, and resilient throughout every game and every season. These three characteristics are found in every great player and are key to this sport. Unification, it is one of, if not the most important, characteristics of a volleyball player. Volleyball is a sport that needs its team to be unified. The goal on the court is to score a point, you get that by getting a pass, a set, and then finally a kill. It takes three people to accomplish this. All the while, the other three players are covering or expecting the unexpected. Together, that’s how you score a pint, that’s how you win the game, that’s how you play volleyball. Being one as a team also takes trust. To play as a team you must trust each other. You have to trust the girl beside you to get that dig. Without trust there is no way to be banded together, and without unification a team will fail. I have seen (and been a part of) multiple teams that have fallen apart
