Have you ever wondered about how Rout 66 has many unique characteristics of how America used to be in the old days. If you have never heard of this road I will give important details about this amazing road, and how it affected America. Have you have road on the interstate, if you have you know that it gets pretty boarding after a while. If so, I have some important advice for you and your family instead of taking the plane Ole interstate try taking the back roads. These roads are also called, "Blue roads" because they are blue on the map. The back roads are a place that you can see old towns that wished they would have became big cities, and one of a kind thing like restaurants. Just the other day I read an article about the blue
To complete my research on RU-486 and past and present examples of Legal/Political Stonewalling relative to women’s issues and reproductive health rights in Canada, I will be heavily reliant on the scholarship of other academics and on the record keeping of cabinet meetings and other such assemblies or political interviews. I plan to begin by investing five dollars in my research so that I might submit a request to the department of Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy, asking for anything and everything that has been written or produced by the Canadian federal government on RU-486 since January 1st, 1995. I selected this date in particular because it will limit me to include twenty years of information on RU-486 in Canadian politics
We had a fast trip down to Mississippi to visit with Dad & Kay. With all the storms blowing through, we managed to evade them all thankfully. We did have sunny skies on Friday & Monday. And the little Miata just hummed along. We took the top down Friday after we left Hopkinsville KY. Getting off the Pennyrile Pkwy and onto I-24 for a bit, traffic became quite heavy heading into Nashville, so we got off the interstate and cut across the countryside to the far edge of Nashville. Once on the southwest side of Nashville and the beginning of the Natchez Trace Parkway we stopped at the infamous Loveless Cafe before driving the Natchez Trace. We thought we'd just sit down, have a meal and drive on.....uh no, 1 1/2 hr wait, the place was packed with people there to eat smoked BBQ sandwiches. In the next building over, they sold sandwiches to go, so that is what we did, sort of. We found some chairs outside in the shade, ate our meal. The Natchez Trace is a destination drive within itself, maintained by the National Park Service, it is a beautiful drive with lots of places to pull off, hike, see waterfalls, vistas, etc.....none of which we did :-)
If you are like me, you have grown bored with the theme parks, not to mention the expense, in Orlando, Florida. Here are a few ideas that have been fun-filled and educational for our family. We travel in a camper, which opens a whole new world of travel. If you don 't have a camper, one can be rented from almost any RV salesperson. Prices vary, but it will average out to about the same as a week in Orlando. These are just our experiences, and we are not a travel agent. Number 1: If you enjoy Florida then try a trip down Florida Highway 101. You can pick up Highway 101 in Jacksonville, Florida. As you head south you will be able to view miles of beaches. There are many places to park and enjoy the beach at your leisure. You will be passing through several small towns that offer the traveler sights and services. Make sure you plan a day or two stop in the oldest city St. Augustine, Florida. The shops and sights are well worth a two day stop. From here continue south and visit Daytona Beach, the home of the first NASCAR race. Number 2: From Atlanta, Georgia head North on Interstate 75. Make sure when you get to Calhoun, you exit and follow the signs to Echota. This is the location of the first Cherokee Indian Capitol. There is a great museum showing the life of the Cherokee Nation. Back on I-75 North your next stop should be Chattanooga, Tn. Here you can find several battlefields and museums concerning the War Between the States. There are monuments for every group of
The flight would be much faster, but we wouldn’t have much of a family experience Driving would be more family oriented, but will add more than 7 hours to travel. We decide to drive a motorhome. In my opinion, the drive was more memorable than the actual trip. We played games, watched movies, and just bonded as a family. The Buc-cee's stops to get Icee’s and snacks were amazing, obviously the trip was still fun filled, but the trip in the motorhome was very memorable too.
Do a state parks road trip. Grab your driving buddy and hit the pavement to see some of America’s most spectacular sites, whether you’re into red rocks or really tall trees. Depending on how much time you have, you can see two parks in one trip, like Yellowstone and Arches, Yosemite and Big Sur, and Joshua Tree and the Grand Canyon.
Rent a houseboat or take a river cruise along the Mississippi river for a relaxing, scenic vacation.
Hunger will set in soon if the human body is only running on chips and soda, thankfully Thanksgiving dinner is only 120 miles away! The trip is bound to be fun, but as the destination gets closer, anxiety sets in about the quality of the food and what memories will be created this year. Most drivers going from Nashville to Jackson, Tennessee, it is conventional wisdom to take Interstate 40 the whole way.
Wallis summarizes a much simpler time in American history, or as my parents call it, “the good old times.” Either way she puts into words what America’s older generations remember actually living and younger generations will only ever read about. However, Highway 66 was not all sunshines and rainbows. It was called “Bloody 66” for a reason. It had very high number of traffic fatalities and in 1956, 1 in 6 Arizona traffic deaths happened on Highway 66 (Kulman ¶ 13). Either way, the bright lights of Highway 66 would eventually have to dim to make room for the new
When will you take your trip? How long will you stay? We will stay there 5 days but to get to Seattle Washington on a train and back will take a 6 days, and to drive to Alaska will be 4 days (coming back included). So when we leave the house and get back it will have been 15 days.
American history has had many defining moments over the last five decades which has helped America to develop to the way it is today. Each decade holding many life changing events and discoveries in them it would take a long time to cover each and every one of these so I have chosen a major event that I find to be of great worth to Americans today. We can all learn from the past events and work together to make American a safer and better place to live, and one way to do so is by learning from the past. Starting in the 1950’s we will discuss the most life changing and breath taking moments from each decade that this great county has seen through the 90’s and discover why they are all of significant value to the America we all live in
I realize that this may not be feasible for everyone, but I cannot overestimate the amazingness of staying at a Disney resort. It’s incredibly convenient when you’re traveling with little ones who need breaks/naps because it’s just a short walk from the park, but aside from that you really can’t beat the all-star treatment. We’ve stayed at The Boardwalk Hotel at Disney World and The Grand Californian at Disneyland. Both are equally amazing and have ruined me for all other hotels for the rest of my life.
From the earliest days of family travel, four small words have resonated through the car-- are we there yet?! If you listen closely you can almost hear those words wafting from the back seat of a Model T. While cars have changed, family travel and that famous phrase have not. The best vacation my family ever took was one that we didn’t stress on planning. My husband and I kept it simple. We packed our bags early and hid
