High fructose corn syrup is manmade and bad for you. It is found in products like cereals, sodas, crackers, to cookies, and many other foods. It is an artificial sweetener made from corn. It has had some of its glucose partially changed to fructose. It is worse for you than table sugar or sucrose.

High fructose corn syrup and sucrose are differently built up. It is very close in chemical composition. According to John S.White sucrose has glucose and fructose Connected together but HFCS does not have them connected. The difference in the chemical structures between sucrose and HFCS makes some researchers think that HFCS is metabolized differently than sucrose by the body and so that could be a cause for worry in its relativity to obesity in the United States.

In The Book Omnivore's Dilemma, Michael Pollan thinks that between one-quarter and one-third gallons of oil are needed per bushel of corn to create the fertilizers, pesticides, and tractor gasoline, and to harvest the corn, dry it, and then transport the corn to the different places. According to the U.S Department of Agriculture about 490 million bushels of corn last year was used for the HFCS industry. The environmental impact of it depends on how the corn is grown. Traditional farming practices use a huge amount of water resources, pesticides, and fertilizers this leads to widespread water pollution and and soil without nutrients. HFCS Is also bad for socially. All the things affect each other, because HFCS is so bad for your health people that eat things with it can become obese and when lots more people are obese this creates problems. People will not have good relationships and society will have to pay for medical things because of health problems this could raise taxes and people will not be
